Deerspark's paws shifted through the rubble beneath him, his haunches tensing as he got ready to stand. But, a voice and a grey pelt met the corner of his eyes, an obscured blur accompanied by a voice. Regardless of if he knew that cat or not, Deerspark leapt at least a feet into the air, claws unsheathed as he sprung.
He landed squarely on his paws, shredded tail high and plumed in alert. Wide eyes snaked over to who he identified as Wisteriawren. A crooked smile was given (the effects of his jacked up jaw), and a worried stare. It was no surprise, Deerspark was always easily startled, but that didn't mean he felt any less bad about it.
The tom never felt truly safe, not within his own mind, not outside of it. He loved his clan, but he was never a social cat and his anxieties had only gotten worse. He slowly relaxed and sheathed his claws, the queens question a dull hum in the ongoing static in his mind.
Sage round eyes blinked.
"Oh." He began. "Uh... Yeah. Hm. Nice." Just because he was hoping for a friend didn't mean he'd actually expected a cat to materialize. Wisteriawren wasn't one to judge, right? Ha, funny, Deerspark would. Or he'd just think about it too much. Speaking of thinking, how come when things actually came to him, things he wanted, he felt backed into a corner? The siamese shifted his gaze away from the tabby, refocusing his mind on what he was thinking about before.
"Moths." He didn't lift his gaze, crooked jaw working slowly to form his words. "You... Hm. Er.... Like--- like them?" He knew Wisteriawren being here wasn't an invitation to just dump all of his thoughts onto her, but he couldn't stop his unsorted words from forming. He needed to articulate his thoughts. Most of all, he needed to voice them.
"They... They. Only uh, live. For... For. So long." Deerspark gestured a paw to the air around him. "S-uh... Some hm. Ten. Ten days. And yet... They. They don't uh. Worry. They live." He breathed. "A few... Few. Hm. Uh. Moons, weeks. A-and... They... live. I... Don't know. How. To uh. Do that..." It's not like he expected her to have an answer, Deerspark was trying to find it for himself, but at least he was talking at somecat, even if not to them. It wasn't the best, but Deerspark wasn't one to leap.

She can't help it. Can't help the way her eyes soften, the way her heart melts near instantly. Her heart had never been hard enough, never strong enough to withhold storms. No, she'd always had feelings and emotions too big for her body. The former kittypet goes still, making sure not to make any abrupt movements, the gentle smile ever present on her face. The Melody who'd first come to RiverClan would have jumped out of her skin as well, would have uttered apology after apology and felt overwhelmed with mortification. The Wisteriawren who existed now was more grounded, more sure of herself. Life had tied her down, and she was not regretful of it one bit.
She didn't want to spook Deerspark any more than he already seemed to be, in his own fur.
"Moths are beautiful." She answers finally when all was said and done - not liking to raise her voice past its whisper when Deerspark was right beside her. At first, she isn't sure how to respond to the meaning behind his words, save for the swell of sorrow in her chest. It was not pity for him. Just a sadness that he had to feel this way. Followed swift by a desire to pull him out from beneath the water and back onto land, even if he'd have to throw up all the water he'd swallowed. The pain of healing was much better than feeling nothing at all.
"You're right about that, now that I think about it. They do know how to live. In harmony, almost better than us. I wonder if they ever fight like we do. I wonder what their lives look like, existing for even less than a fortnight." Her smile tips higher. She didn't mind if it took her companion longer to form the words that came so easy to others. Rowanmane had suffered from a jaw injury too, still did sometimes. She wished she could take away his hurt, but she was only capable of so much.
"In another life, maybe I'd have liked to be named after moths. But... Dusk-- Stormstar gave me my name. This one. I wouldn't trade it for... for..." The ex-kittypet falters. "Well, I suppose saying I wouldn't trade it for the world would be a lie, wouldn't it? I'd trade it for a lot of things that selfishly matter more. To me, to Stormstar. She'd want her Clan safe. I want my family safe."
Gold-flecked blue eyes turn to her former denmate. "I didn't know how to live either, Deerspark. For a long time, I didn't." Her ears lower, gaze far away. That suffocating depression had been the worst weeks of her life. It had pressed her so far into the ground that she'd felt like she was already gone from this plane. "Until I found everything I had to live for." Her paw lifts, hesitant at first, hovering a moment as she keeps it in his view. She presses it to his chest gently, over where she assumed their hearts lay.
"Ask yourself what you live for, Deerspark. In here. Find it and never let go." Her own heart aches for him, but her soft, hopeful smile remains, even if her eyes shimmer with emotion. Wisteriawren didn't care if they barely knew one another. She loved every one of her Clanmates regardless. They were all her family. "You're not alone, you know? You don't have to be." Something she, unfortunately, had learned the hard way.

"Sparrows can be a few colors, I think. But they usually have some sort of brown. Maybe a bit of black." Caveclaw isn't necessarily the best cat to ask about birds, but she'll try.
"Now some other kinds.." She thought out loud "There's... finches. I think they can be either red or yellow. There's also crows, they're usually completely black. Ravens are similar, but sometimes they have a little white."
At least crows and ravens were easy to describe.
They personally can't think of much else, maybe snowpaw'll ask about something else, but who knows.
Pikekit took a moment of contemplation before considering his answer. ”Well I think the ones that look like eachother don’t really fight, but I just suppose they’re like little cats but more well, beetly!”
He looked around and took a moment to dart away, pushing back some reeds to find another. This bug was a bit smaller, but a lovely brown-golden colour. He returned with it delicately perched on top of his head. ”Ya ready to try? Which one do ya think will win?”
He scooped it from his head and placed it down, making sure it wouldn’t scuttle away too quickly.
BRAMBLEKIT

As the beetle crawled onto his back, Bramblekit watched Pikekit dart into the bushes, contemplating what the older kit had said. He guessed it made sense, sort of... But if Thunderclan cats fight Riverclan cats, then why wouldn't the same kind of beetle fight each other? Do beetles also live in clans like cats? Certainly not, that was a silly idea. He had never seen a clan of beetles. Maybe ants, though. Ants always moved in massive numbers.
Then, Pikekit reappeared with a new, but smaller bug. Bramblekit looked at the new bug curiously for a moment before reaching around to get the beetle, now on his tail, back onto the ground. He tried to be as gentle as possible as he held the larger bug in his maw and nodded, placing his combatant upon the ground and using one paw to gently hold it in place.
"I think..." The ginger kit looked between the two bugs. "I think that my beetle is gonna win, 'cause it's bigger." He nodded, almost mimicking the knowing expression of an elder before grinning and releasing the beetle to fight once Pikekit was ready.

MagpieRose scanned the clearing. She saw one of the newcomers sitting alone. Maybe she should greet her. She sighed as she thought about it. Yes. No. Yes. No. Yes!
She got to her feet as she hummed. As the queen approached her, she smiled. "Hello! I'd like to welcome you to riverclan. I'm MagpieRose, one of the queens." She told the other cat.
"Sorry if I seemed like I tried really hard to greet you. 'M not really used to being social."

Fallenspirit stretched out, the sunlight making his tortoiseshell coat gleam. The tom padded away from the warrior den and into the clearing, enjoying the sunlight. The weather had been getting warmer, something that the tom could most definitely appreciate. He sat down, his icy blue gaze fixed on something in the distance.
Breezepaw looked at the fresh kill pile. Empty. He looked around for anyone he knew. Alas, he had no luck. He turned around to go looking for his mentor, when he nearly stepped on a flamey looking tom.
"Ahh!" He yelped, jumping back. He took a breath and looked at the tom. "Fallenspirit.." He said swishing his tail across the ground. "Sorry.." He said backing up a bit. "If you want, you can join the hunting patrol I'm trying to make." He said flicking his ear nervously.
Fallenspirit felt the apprentice crash into him, knocking his balance off, but not enough to tip the tom over. His icy blue glare met the apprentice, Breezepaw. "As long as you aren't going to knock me over out there," the tom grumbled. As irritated as he was, RiverClan came first. The tom stood, his bulky frame rippling under a short pelt. "Is anyone else coming, or did you just choose to bother me?," mewed Fallenspirit flatly.
