Hmph. Squirrelpaw muttered, looking at the ground. ShadowClan is stinky. She complained, throwing her head back.

Dreamheart's eyes narrow. "Doesn't mean we're skipping it. Come along, Squirrelpaw. Keep up." Standing up, the slim, pale warrior sweeps off at a brisk pace, heading back down the winding hill, and towards the border with Shadowclan.

Squirrelpaw sighed, making a clucking noise with her tongue. Dum-de-dum... She hummed as she followed her mentor, skipping along the way.

Dreamheart glanced back at her apprentice occasionally, making sure she didn't get left behind. "Why don't you keep an eye out and tell me when you see the border, Squirrel? It's called Whispering Wetlands, and is basically a big swamp that meets the moorland. You'll probably smell it before you see it, so keep a nose out as well as an eye." Dream carried on briskly, towards the border.

The strong scent hit Squirrelpaw fast, and she wrinkled her nose. Yuck! She exclaimed, shaking her head vigorously.

Dreamheart laughed. "It is rather yucky, isn't it? Well, here we are. Whispering Wetlands." The warrior swept her paw towards the border. It was a large mire, dotted with gnarled, twisting willow trees and swampy ground. It's shadowy and dark, with a slight wind blowing through, seeming to carry whispers of unseen voices. "We have no problems with Shadowclan at the moment, and our clan relations are pretty neutral. Why don't you tell me what Shadowclan scent is like, so you can recognize it next time. And make sure you don't stray over the border; We don't want any trouble."

Squirrelpaw nodded, perking her ears. It's bitter and foxy. She complained, taking a step back.

Dreamheart nodded. "It isn't a very pleasant smell, is it? Alright, next stop, Riverclan border. You'll smell the little fishes before you see 'em, so, again, keep your nose out." Her pale tail twitched as she whisked away in the direction of the border.

Squirrelpaw sighed, wrinkling her nose in preparation for the horrid smell that would soon arrive at her nose.

Dreamheart continued on until they reached the border, where flat earth became rolling hills and a smooth flowing river appeared. "Welcome to Sedgewater Valley, Squirrel. The border between Windclan and Riverclan. Tall heather dots the hills on Windclan's side, and a flattened forest dominates Riverclan's side of the border. They continue on, Dreamheart talking as she goes, "Our relations with Riverclan are worse than the others, at the moment, and it can be pretty tense. So watch your pawsteps, commit that scent to memory, and do not cross the border." Soon, the sloping hills turn to sheer cliffs, and the bubbling stream becomes raging rapids. "Be careful, watch your step Squirrelpaw. This area is plenty dangerous, especially in leafbare, where if you fall into the river, it can be deadly."
