Craneflight walked into the clearing and sat down. There was a lot of drama going on today, and she wanted nothing to do with it. Today was the anniversary of her mentor Stormwind's death. She'd already visited the grave, but she still had the second part of her mourning ritual to do. Hopefully no one would be outside tonight...
Starkit was bored again. She had two friends, Bramblekit and Berryshine, both of whom were busy. She had no family at all, the poor kit, so that wasn't an option either. She saw someone sitting by herself. They looked sad and lonely, and Starkit often felt that, so she very much understood. The inky black kit also hated it when others were sad. If she wanted to be a Medicine Cat, then she would help everyone! Yeah!
Getting to her paws, the black-with-two-white-patches kit slowly approached the older cat. "Hello?" She said, fighting down her shyness. "I'm Starkit.. You look sad. Is everything okay?" She sat down, her calming scent of rosemary circling around her. She loved smelling like herbs, and didn't even know how she did, even if she was visiting Berryshine a lot.. No matter! Starkit would help this cat.

Craneflight looked down and saw a small black kit standing near her. It took her a moment to realize that the kit had asked them a question and was waiting for a response. "Hmm? Oh, um, my mentor died. A while ago. It's been about 2 years. Sorry, just thinking. About her. Her name was Stormwind." Why am I opening up to this kit? She thought. I don't usually like kits, but this one is...different? She has this calming prescence. Well, she also smells like rosemary. I like rosemary, reminds me of Cottonfoot's den. No, don't think about Cottonfoot. He's gone. They're all gone. Stop spiraling. She shook her head to clear the thoughts, and licked her blue-gray paw.

"w-well- my mentor pa-passed away." He said, the small ticks in his vocals causing him to stutter as he spoke, looking down at the kit. He was frankly a bit surprised at her bluntness- but then again- he just witnessed a kit yell at primroseadder- so that was- interesting.

Kingfisherkit's ear flicked. She wasn't entirely sure the answer she was expecting from Speckledpaw, but it wasn't that.
Well, she supposed that made sense, he did look really sad. She found herself wanting to comfort him, she did want to get to know her Clanmates, after all. But the she-kit wasn't sure how. "Oh."
She thought for a moment. "Who was your mentor?"
Starkit tilted her head, blinking her bright blue eyes once, white eye patch crinkling. "Oh, I'm sorry.. Do you want to talk about it? Berryshine once said to me that talking can be the best form of healing sometimes, for mental wounds. Maybe I can help? I want to be Medicine Cat one day, and you seem like you could use a little bit of healing." Her white socked paw gently touched the other cats paw. She knew she had a calming presence, and she hoped to help this cat with it. "What's your name?"

Craneflight blinked, staring at the kit. Honestly? The kit would be a good medicine cat. She was smart already, and her calming presence was helping bring the voices out of Craneflight's head. "I'm Craneflight." She said. "I...already told you her name was Stormwind. She was young, at best, she'd only been a warrior for about a year. Kind of like me, now. She was energetic, and always saw the best in me. Even when I didn't see the best in myself. I miss her."
Starkit listened attentively, not interrupting Craneflight at all. She needed to get this out of her system. "She sounds lovely. I would've liked to have met her, I think. I'm sure she's proud of you, from Starclan." She said with complete conviction. She believed in Starclan with her whole heart, even if her entire family had been taken and claimed by the stars. "I think you're pretty cool." Star said softly. And she did. Craneflight was strong, clearly, stronger than she gave herself credit for.
