Primroseadder shifted, wrapping her tail around her son. Using a paw, she placed it under Owlkit's chin and lifted his head, making him look her in the eyes.

''Let me tell ya somethin', love,'' the queen mewed, her voice soft yet firm. ''You're not different, 'n if the other kits are sayin' that ta ya, then ignore 'em 'n come 'n tell me or your father. You're my son, little owl. I would never let anythin' happen ta ya.''

''It's perfectly okay to think a little differently. 'N ya know what, Owls? RiverClan needs different. RiverClan's leaders have been...under a curse, it feels like, with how many have abandoned the Clan or have died since...Beanstar,'' Primroseadder gave Owlkit a loving look. ''Owlstar needs cats who will support 'er, 'n I have great faith in ya that ya will support 'er. RiverClan needs stability, but most importantly, RiverClan needs loyalty. If we aren't loyal ta Owlstar, who's ta say that RiverClan won't fall? That we won't scatter inta the outskirts? Owlstar's brought stability ta RiverClan since Stormstar died, 'n we've been repayin' 'er with our undivided loyalty. Why else do ya think you're named after 'er?''

Primroseadder let out a soothing purr, wrapping her tail tighter around her son. ''Listen, little owl. You're named after Owlstar, the greatest leader that RiverClan's had in moons. If ya want ta be like 'er one day, then you're goin' ta have ta get over your fears. 'N don't worry, me 'n your father 'n your littermates will help out with that, 'n so will every other cat in RiverClan. RiverClan values you, Owls. Don't you forget that.''

Primroseadder purred and nuzzled Owlkit's had with her maw. "'m glad. 'm countin' on ya, little owl," She mewed, eyes glittering with love and adoration for her son.

"Sure. Show me the rock," Primroseadder smiled. "If it has sharp edges, though, I'll keep it with me 'til your pads toughen up. Right now, they're soft 'n can cut easily."

"They can..?" Owlkit asked, holding up his paw, blinking innocently but he shrugged, trotting over to his collection, and taking a smooth, white rock in his jaws, he brought in back, beaming.

"Look mama! it reminds me of daddy!" He beamed, giggling.
