Hollylynx's paws carried her over to the apprentices' den shortly after she had finished her meal. The warrior slipped inside and gave her apprentice---Spiderpaw---a gentle prod in the flank. ''Spiderpaw. Up. Training.''

Spiderpaw was stalking a mouse, her crouch low and her tail twitching with anticipation, back paws kneading the ground as she readied herself to-
"Hmmm...?" A gentle prod pulled Spiderpaw from her dreams. The freshly appointed apprentice yawned widely and stretched. She blinked up at Hollylynx, the words momentarily lost to her bleary mind.
Then she stood up quickly, shaking out her pelt to wake herself up, as her mentor's orders suddenly hit their mark. That's right! She, Spiderpaw, was an apprentice now! It felt like it had taken forever to get to this point. Excitement welled up in her chest, but she tried not to show it and remain composed. "Yes, Hollylynx! I'm awake!" She replied, ready to follow the warrior.

Spiderpaw quickly snatched a mouse from the fresh-kill pile, trying to eat as quickly as she could. She would hate to hold up her new mentor! With how quick and straightforward Hollylynx was, the young tabby felt like she needed to rush.
Licking her lips, Spiderpaw stood up and walked back over to Hollylynx, ears slightly down. "Okay, Hollylynx. I'm done..." She said, her voice just as quiet as her mentor's. She was still excited, though now the nervousness began to make her whiskers twitch. She wanted to ask what they were doing today, but didn't want to waste Hollylynx's time with questions.

Hollylynx nodded whenever Spiderpaw approached her and spoke. Without waiting for a response, the warrior led the way out into the territory, tail swaying idly behind her.
''General territory,'' Hollylynx mewed, ears flicking. ''Known for prey and herbs.'' She gave Spiderpaw a moment to take in her surroundings before veering off to a place closer to camp.
''Seagrass Fields, burial grounds,'' the warrior introduced the gravesite to her apprentice, eyes narrowing. ''Many are buried here. Have anyone to visit? Pay your respects.''

Spiderpaw
After a quick nod from her mentor, they were off! Spiderpaw followed after Hollylynx, her pace brisk compared to the warrior's. She wanted to smell, hear, and see everything! How exciting to be outside of camp! She couldn't have imagined just how many smells there were. It was actually quite overwhelming for the blue-grey tabby. Her nose had always been so sensitive.
Before she knew it, Hollylynx was off again! Spiderpaw darted after her mentor to catch up again, trying to keep her excitement from showing as her whiskers twitched at every new smell, sight, and sound.
Spiderpaw's excitement was dampened by Hollylynx's next words. Hardly able to see over the tall grass and mist, the apprentice raised herself awkwardly to her hind paws to look around. She could see how the land sloped down. Someone had told her there was a pond in the Seagrass fields, but she couldn't see that far. She could hear the distant crash of waves against cliffs and taste the salt water in the air, though she didn't quite know what it was.
The young apprentice dropped back down to all four paws, feeling the chilly mist swirl around her. She didn't know how she was supposed to pay respects, but it felt only right to silently wish comfort to those that had died when a fox broke into the nursery while she was just a little kit. The attack had left Spiderpaw's sister scarred, but thankfully had not taken Weavilpaw away from Riverclan.
"Okay..." She mewed to Hollylynx when she was done.

Hollylynx nodded and led the way deeper into the territory, stopping when the trees met sand. ''Lionsbeach,'' the she-cat tipped her head to the side, eyes narrowing down to slits. ''Not known for much prey. Dead fish that wash up on the shore can be taken back if the seagulls and pelicans don't get to them first. Seagulls and crabs are found occasionally.''
''It is known for sunsets, though,'' Hollylynx glanced at her apprentice. ''I'll bring you out here one evening to watch.''

Once again, further into the territory they were heading. The brisk pace and distance was starting to make Spiderpaw's legs ache, but she refused to slow down or complain. She not only wanted to make a good first impression with Hollylynx, but she also wanted to see everything! Sure, it was exhausting, but there was just so many new things!
The smells were all so overpowering. Everything was so new to her, and it seemed like it was not getting any easier to remain focused. The salty tang of the sea grew closer and closer. She needed to know what it was that smelled so distinct!
Lionsbeach, huh? Her amber eyes sought for the source of that rich, salty smell but she couldn't find anything in particular that would smell so strong. It was just water and sand. How strange.
She looked around the beach curiously at Hollylynx's description. Known for it's sunsets... "I would like that." Spiderpaw said, her whiskers twitching in excitement as she tried desperately not show it. She wanted to see the sunset, now! It was too bad it was so early in the day.

As she led the way deeper into the territory, Hollylynx pointed something out. ''You will not see the WindClan border---Sedgewater Valley---today. Owlstar still hasn't reopened it,'' she mewed. As they padded on, a river separating two different terrains came into view. Hollylynx purposely stopped a couple of fox-lengths away.
''Smallpines, ThunderClan border,'' Hollylynx spared a glance at Spiderpaw, her tail swaying idly behind her. ''Vicious, mean creatures, they are. Always will be, too. Take in their scent and commit it to memory.''
