Ooh, a friend. Considering how stupid this cat seemed, maybe if he listened to his rambling about birds, he could make this "Littlekit" do what he wanted. It didn't feel difficult to hurt someone. Birds were boring. "Sure!" he mewed with fake eagerness, "I'm Pinekit."

Littlekit grinned. “Yay! Uhm.. what do you like doing? I like birds! Wait, I already said that. What about you?” the kit asked curiously. Littlekit adored birds, but it’d be interesting to see what Pinekit liked.
"I... don't know?" he mews, kind of unsure. He gave up on speech. "Tell me about birds then."

The runt’s eyes gleamed. Ooh, Pinekit wanted to be his friend AND was asking about birds? Awesome!
He took a deep breath,
“Okay, okay- uhm.. so my favoruite birds are pigeons! They’re pretty and grey and I just love their soft feathers! Did you know that birds just.. drop their feathers sometimes? Like, it’s not even hurting them, they just drop feathers randomly! Weird. I think it’s like how we cats shed fur. Probably.” Littlekit squealed excitedly.
“Anyway, have you ever seen a hawk? Big, giant birds! I’ve heard a lot of stories about them.. spooky stories. Did you know the old medicine cat Mossfreckle got taken by a bunch of hawks?! I still think they’re awesome, even if they’re really super dangerous..” Littlekit rambled on and on. He loved birds so much, and he hoped that Pinekit would too. Maybe one day when they were both apprentices they could walk around the territory and watch birds together! That would be awesome.
"No... I didn't know that." Pinekit muttered. These bird facts were slightly strange but they were sort of interesting. Littlekit seemed to have a moment where he was talking to himself almost, and then HAWKS. Pinekit shuddered. Hawks were terrifying. He had heard super scary things of them taking cats forever and ever and never ever seen again. He never wanted to se a hawk in his LIFE. They could KILL HIM and then he could NEVER finish his plan for clan domination. "I don't like hawks. But I think any birds that live in pine trees, like my name, are cool."

Littlekit playfully batted at Pinekit’s ear. “You silly billy! Hawks NEVER take tiny cats like us! Buuut anyway I also like birds that live in pine trees — like chickadees! Oh, they’re so cute! Don’t you agree?” he mewed eagerly.
As a reaction, Pinekit ducked. "Please don't do that." he mewed, slightly angry. "Oh yeah, those things are cool. I guess." Chickadees. He'd literally never seen one. Why was he lying so much?

Pepper’s gaze swiftly turned to Honeykit in surprise. She was definitely anxious. Definitely didn’t want her- Oh. She’s fine with talking. “R-really? I mean- I could go if you don’t want me.” A small tremor ran down her spine with excitement. Calm down. You can’t scare her off or you’ll never talk to someone again. With a small breath, a smile was on the she-kit’s face. “Uh.. What have you been up to..? I bet you’re doing better than me.” Pepper mewed, hoping she wasn’t too straightforward.

Pepperkit seemed shocked that Honeykit wanted to talk to her, and excited, and everything else. The she-kit got nervous at the thought of the other kit getting really excited and firing off question after question… she really hated questions. “Yeah. It’s okay,” she said, which was awkward, but it was okay, hopefully, cause she didn’t want to repeat herself. Oh—a question. She panicked. “Uh—um…”
“Good.” Wait, no, that wasn’t right. “Nothin’. Nothing,” Honeykit repeated, more firmly to show Pepperkit that that was what she meant to say all along. She stared hard at her paws, blinking back some tears she knew she shouldn’t cry but really really really wanted to. Her pelt was all prickly and she felt gross and warm and she just wanted to get away. It was such a bad idea, but now she was stuck…
Pepper felt even more uncomfortable when she caught sight of the tears in Honeykit’s eyes. “I-I-I should probably go.. I understand if you don’t want to talk..” She mewed, rising to her paws but not moving. “If you wanna chat, I’m happy to, but I won’t disturb you if you don’t want me.” Pepper added, smiling warmly. Leave Honeykit alone. She’s anxious and you’re gonna make it worse. It hurt to see her first interaction was like this but atleast she was speaking to someone. “I’ll see ya another time.” As quickly as she could, she padded to her nest, trying not to seem desperate to get away.
