Stressful meeting…new ranks and all…well. Should he talk to the medicine cat apprentice? Yeah…that’d be nice…see if they knew anything beforehand. DarkPaw padded up to the new medicine cat apprentice, dipping his head respectfully. “Hi…uhm- congratulation…first of all.” he stated politely. He had a bit of a mask on but he was…proud of himself, a shocking thing to happen. A bit more responsibility but he felt good nonetheless. He was used to stress. He was fine. “Was wondering…if you already have herb knowledge?”

Silentpaw was only getting used to feeling like he was... Actually a Medicine Cat Apprentice, when SOMEBODY decided to come bother hi- Oh, it was... Darkpaw. The... Uh. What was he? A helper? Assistant? Whatever. Someone that was going to be training with Sleepysunrise and himself and basically be useful. He gave a small nod of acknowledgment when the apprentice came over with a dip of his head, speaking his congratulations.

At Darkpaw's question about herbal knowledge... Well, he did know a couple herbs... So he should probably teach Darkpaw about them as well, no? He nodded again, fully turning his body to look at him.

Okay…SilentPaw…y’know…was silent. Way to live up to a name, ey? DarkPaw has a darker pelt…and preferred to remain there unnoticed, but he supposed that wish would be no more. “M’k…I know…uhm…Moss, Cobwebs…Borage Leaves and Poppy Seeds.” he decided to throw that out there cause…why not, right? Hopefully SilentPaw would have more he could leech off of.

So Darkpaw already knew a few herbs. That was nice to hear. But Silentpaw knew more, it seemed like, so he could definitely teach the other apprentice a couple of things.

"... I know... Catmint. Marigold. Horsetail. Moss. Cobweb. Lavender. Coltsfoot. And... Comfrey." He listed off the herbs he knew of, bobbed tail flicking against the ground. "I can teach. If you wish." Ah, damn. That meant he was going to have to talk a whole lot. Well. He wasn't quite looking forward to rambling.

Hmmm…yeah…DarkPaw wasn’t much help. Damn. He couldn’t help but feel guilty due to his…lack of knowledge supposedly. He never really believed he would have to know herbs though, but here was. “Yeah…sorry ‘m not much help….” he apologized, offering a shy smile in attempts to lift the mood a bit. Just two…quiet…socially awkward apprentices. Having to work together and pass on knowledge. “So…ya know Borage Leaves or no? I can- uhm…teach you that after…if you want.”

Any previous signs of annoyance or frustration (If he showed any) was gone at Darkpaw's apology. Silentpaw gave the apprentice a deadpan look, but it held a hint of something else.

"Don't worry about it." He murmured, moving closer to Darkpaw. He was going to have to hear them to actually understand, no? At Darkpaw's proposal, he simply nodded with a small "Sure." muttered. Alright. Time to get this started.

"Catmint. Looks like nettles. Leaves are greyish. Purple flowers. Best remedy for greencough and whitecough."

"Marigold. Orange frilly petals. Treats infection, minor cuts and scrapes. Helps with inflamed joints, broken bones... And flea bites. Useful. Crush petals and leaves to treat wounds." Personally, he found marigolds one of the most important herbs to have. They were currently herb-less, so he could probably ask Sleepysunrise to send a couple patrols out to gather the orange flowers.

"Lavender. Narrow. Tall. Purple flowers. Smells nice. Calms cats down from shock. Or panic. Or a traumatic event. Also hides the scent of death..." Whoops. He probably shouldn't have said that last part... Oh well. He couldn't just take back what he said, can he? "Treats coughs and fevers too."

"Coltsfoot. Yellow. Looks like dandelions. Helps breathing and kit sickness. Sore and cracked pawpads too."

"Comfrey. Flowers look like bluebells. Has round and fat roots. Important. Chew leaves and roots to a pulp. Helps broken bones. Sore and inflammed joints. Burns. Sore muscles." He paused, drawing in a deep breath. He hadn't talked this much in... What, a couple moons? This was knocking any energy left in him out. "Leaves can patch wounds."

"Horsetail. Stems with something at the top. Looks like pine saplings. Chew to a pulp. Helps with slowing bleeding. And preventing infection."

He was finally finished, whew. Hopefully Darkpaw got all that. He would jump into the nearest river if he asked to repeat anything (He's just kidding). He flicked an ear at Darkpaw, indicating he was willing to listen, whether it be questions or about borage leaves.

The apprentice nodded as the wiser went over everything he knew. His ears were perked as ne noted each and everything. The name, what it looks like, and what it does. He was pretty sure that he picked up everything the other tom said, which was good. He would die of embarrassment if he forced the cat to repeat any of that (coincidence huh?). He gave a confident(?) nod after the apprentice finished, and figured it was his turn to speak. “Alright…I think I’ve got that. Thank you.” Good…good, polite start. “Borage leaves…they’re soft n’ leafy, with bumpy-looking texture…typically mint green in color…they also have sort of star-shaped flowers…typically blue or pink in color.” he explained, going for the physical description first. “The flowers don’ do anythin’, it’s the leaves ya need…per the name.” he decided to add that, as that’s what RookFire shared as well. “The leaves are eaten…typically found in forests, but really anywhere moist…much like moss.” Okay, get on with what it does! “They have a share of uses. They help queen t’ produce milk…it also helps as a antibiotic for fevers, stomachaches, tight chests, n’ infections.” There. That’s that.
