He was thankful to be away from the scene. The walk back was quick, easy - as though they’d magically appeared in camp. Anyhting was easy in comparison to dodging squirrels of all things.
But… What to report? Should he even mention the squirrels? He supposed it was unusual, and anything unusual was worth mentioning. He approached Mistlewhisker, giving the report. “The border was quiet. Nothing unusual apart from some… Overactive squirrels throwing acorns? Maybe the incoming leafbare’s messing with their brains.” He paused for a moment, “the apprentices were well behaved. They did a good job.”
Come to think of it, it must've looked very odd for any patrol to show up with an abnormally large bird, but at the moment, Mudslide could care less. Her ears were popping from the mere thought of the wretched sound of those birds, and she could probably stay in silence for moons on end after this, and be completely content.
With fresh blood staining her muzzle and trailing down her paws, she walked alongside her patrol mates into the command post, her eyes mainly downcast as she watched her pawsteps. Once she reached the deputy, she set the large bird down, hopefully with the help of Cinderpaw.
She blinked at the deputy before she spoke, her breathing a bit more labored than usual, "Bird. Mouse. Squirrel." She explained, before flicking her tail to the gap in the group... Wherever that was. What she was trying to convey was the absence of Daintycurl. Showed up, didn't hunt, let alone help, and completely disappeared.
She then looked to the present members of the patrol, hoping they could elaborate or add to her words if they so pleased, because Mudslide was one hundred percent done with talking.

Wispypaw followed after the other two, not saying a word at the moment since one was speaking for them. They did idly note that marigoldpaw most certainly vanished on them, what a surprise. They didn't trust clan hoppers in the first place, so the other's disappearance didn't help gain any of their trust. Oh well, that wasn't their problem so they had no care for it anyway, with nothing to add to the conversation, they dropped off their mouse on the pile.

Birdecho dashed into camp, mouth clamped around a few pieces of prey, alone. She skidded up to Mistlewhisker, dropping her prey haphazardly to the ground, a quick "oops!" escaping her before she could catch her breath and look up at the Deputy. "Starlingcall lead us to territory, but once I finished hunting, none of the patrol was there!! I dunno what happened." Her amber eyes flared with distress. Maybe she had just missed them, and they would be coming in behind her any moment. She'd be worried about her sister, but Quietpaw didn't like her all that much so she couldn't muster more than vague concern.

Patrols began trickling in, but Mistlewhisker could tell immediately that something was up. The first patrol to show up was thankfully mostly in one piece, but missing an apprentice. Duskpaw mumbled something about her catch not being much, but the Deputy flicked an ear in response. "Prey is prey, little one." If she had been a warrior, Mistlewhisker would have been more irritated. Mistlewhisker nodded to the Enforcer, dismissing him and the rest of his patrol with a nod.
"Silentpaw [ @Star ]!" Mistlewhisker bellowed, looking around camp in case the apprentice had just forgotten to check in. "You are an apprentice, you can report your own catches."
[Hey hey! If you wouldn't mind having Silentpaw come report his catches that would be awesome. Thank you!!]

”Mistlewhisker, all good at the border.” The tom nodded reporting in.

The Enforcer led her way back first, with hopefully Sootstorm and Wispypaw trailing behind. At least they'd actually showed their faces. While the she-cat wasn't nearly as peeved as the last patrol she'd been on, this one still angered her. But that wasn't hard to do, really.
Taking a moment to place her scrawny squirrel and mouse on the prey pile, Briarsplash padded up to the deputy, dipping her head quickly in a respectful greeting before she rasped out her report as bluntly as usual.
"We all caught at least somethin', which is good. Prey's getting harder to find, which is bad. And... Marigoldpaw showed up for the patrol, but never showed 'er face in the forest." Briar's tail lashed, a clear sign of her displeasure, eyes narrowed. "Dunno if she ever even followed us."
Sootstorm followed Briarsplash into the patrol place, blackbird clamped between her jaws against the wind. She set her catch on the fresh-kill pile and stood behind the Enforcer, emerald hues narrowed down to slits.

Briarsplash--always reliable. Just as expected as the Enforcer's professionalism was Marigoldpaw's absence. Well, this had been her last chance. Mistlewhisker would be recommending her exile to Dawnstar. Typically Mistlewhisker would do it herself, but since Dawnstar had a vague history with the molly, she would get her mate's opinion. "Thank you. Dismissed."

Her ear flicked towards her brother. "I took Bleedingpaw with. He did fine."
A grand compliment from the youngest enforcer; but deserved, for the other pair had not shown, Sleepysunrise found solace in knowing her brother knew better.
Bleedingpaw was panting a bit when he arrived back at camp, the long trek from the border tiring him a tad given he had to put more effort in to keep pace and keep upright. He managed though and he wouldntve accepted his sister slowing down for him anyways. Depositing his prey in front of the deputy proudly the toms head jittered in place as it tended to, grinning more easily now. "Nothing at the border Miss Mistlewhisker! Though it is freshly marked and we caught some prey!"
It was just a mouse but he was still happy to provide. Leaning on his sister to maintain some stability (and cuddle up a bit) he waited for dismissal as was polite, a bit sleepy.

Well, this was.... interesting. When Sleepysunrise and Bleedingpaw had started approaching her, Mistlewhisker thought it might be to report something unrelated to patrols. She knew Sleepysunrise had taken over for Gutsgnaw, but hadn't she assigned two other cats to the patrol? Two cats who were decidedly not Bleedingpaw? But Sleepysunrise confirmed that it was in fact for the patrol, and that Hawkwasp and Palepaw hadn't shown. Hm. Interesting. But apparently Bleedingpaw had done well. The Deputy nodded to them both, eye lingering on Bleedingpaw. "Keep up the good work, and you might end up like your sister yet." Another piece of praise, this time from the Deputy. "I shall deal with Hawkwasp and Palepaw. Dismissed."

Squirrels throwing acorns? How amusing. She would havev to tell that to Hawkbite--maybe he would like to go teach them what for. "Thank you. Glad to hear they did well." She dismissed him with a flick of her ear.

Woah. That was a very large bird. It reminded her of the pheasant she had caught with Lynxshade. Mistlewhisker couldn't recall if she had seen one this big though. As Mudslide laid it near the prey pile, Mistlewhisker considered her. She had been intending to recommend Mudslide for Enforcer for moons, but Rookfire's promotion and then Owlthroat and Newtbelly had taken the slots. But Mistlewhisker was sure they could use with another Enforcer. However... the rest of her patrol wasn't there, and it seemed that Mudslide was trying to tell her Daintycurl didn't show up at all. Disappointing. Her tail flicked idly, but she dismissed Mudslide with a tip of her head.
"Cinderpaw [ @Neptune. ]! Mosquitopaw [ @nyme ]! Like Silentpaw, you can report your own catches." If they showed up soon, she wouldn't bother punishing them. She wondered what she had to do to drill it in this clan's head that if you were on a hunting patrol, you HAD to report back, even if you didn't catch anything. Oh well. Neither of them had been troublesome in the past, so she was willing to chalk it up to forgetting.
[Hihi! Come have your guys come and report real quick, pretty please!! Thank you!!]

And last to show up--with not a single patrol member along side her--was Birdecho. It seemed the warrior's first patrol as a warrior had turned out to be a bust. The Deputy huffed as she explained the rest of the patrol disappeared, but dismissed her with a flick of her tail. If they weren't going to do the work, they would face the consequences.

Cinderpaw padded alongside Mudslide, helping to carry the massive bird between the two of them. It wasn't exactly light, but it would be worse if just one of them had carried the beast. She must have been hidden behind the thing, because Mistlewhisker didn't seem to take notice of her, and so, meekly, she peered around the corner with her mouse. It isn't much, but the prey already seems to be hiding - plus, the large bird might make up for it.

Starlingcall pads into camp, head thrummig in pain. Damn pine cones. "Apologies, Birdecho, Mistlewhisker," they huff. "I decided to sit and rest on the way back, which split up the patrol. That pine cone packed an unfortunately powerful punch. I'd rather rest than bother the medicine cats."
Starlingcall hopes Mistlewhisker will accept it returning later than usual. However, they don't know if the rest of their patrol will catch up. They lost track of- QUIETPAW. Stars above. They look away. They're nearly a warrior, right? Surely they didn't get in too much trouble- and Moonglow was probably with them...

Oh the joy of being late. Quietpaw sauntered casually into camp, making a quick stop to the prey pile to drop of her singular mouse before searching for the remainder of her patrol who appeared to be reporting to Mistlewhisker. So they had left her. A bit rude but no problem. At least not for her, she was as old as Birdecho so why should she be treated like an irresponsible child? Because her warrior name had been delayed for some unknown reason? Better not.
Suppose she needed to show she hadn't gotten lost...With a huff of exasperation the splotched molly jadedly drifted over to the trio, barely managing to keep a scowl of her face and maintain a somewhat neutral appearance. "Apologies for my latenesss, Mistlewhisker. I..got sidetracked." Quietpaw offered a somewhat half hearted apology. She wasn't going to mention her mistakes the last remaining strand of dignity she had so she kept it vague. This was already a bad day, no need to make it worse.
Mosquitopaw is dragging on his way back, hardly able to tear his eyes off of the giant bird that Mudslide and Cinderpaw had downed together. He didn't know birds could even get that big and not be the kind with scything talons and razor beaks. That...he...noticed, anyway. He hadn't gotten very close to it at all.
Cinderpaw's mouse is returned to her as soon as she's got the mouthspace for it so that she can properly report in with it (no stolen valor, here!) and Mosquitopaw, velvet-thin coat startled into bristling as his initial absence is remarked upon, tips his head into an awkward nod at Mistlewhisker.
"I—uh." Helped? Hardly. He'd carried what somebody else had caught for the brief time that she couldn't do so, herself. Mosquitopaw's ears burn. "I—I learned. That's...umthat'swhatIdid." Not a lie, but not as satisfying a truth as a fresh-caught meal would be.
