Slypaw jumped in surprise when he felt something touch him. He looked up and saw Mothflame. He sat down again, a bit embarrassed that he got so scared... Then again when cats touched him he was used to it being his dad...

Mothflame instantly flinches away when she feel Slypaw jump, previously bright expression clouded in worry and guilt. She hadn't meant to scare him. How could she have forgotten? Cats don't heal overnight, especially not mentally. The orange she-cat slightly inches away so she is no longer touching him, but she is close enough to brush her tail around him, which she doesn't do.

"How are you holdin' up?" She asks softly, tail twitching.

"I'm great actually," he said, lying through his teeth. "Thanks for checkin' in though, mom" That last part slipped out... It felt right. She'd never be Moma, but she's his mom. No one will be able to convince him otherwise.

Mothflame's eyes narrowed, though they were free of the venom they usually held. Though Slypaw had said he was alright, Mothflame could sense there was something else.

"You don't have to lie to me, Slypaw, remember when you asked me not to lie to you?" She smiled warmly. "No secrets between as from now on, alright? Talk to me if ya need to." And she froze. What? What had he called her...?

"Mom"?

Mothflame sucked in a breath, her smile growing wider. He'd called her mom. She didn't know what to feel. It felt like she was feeling every positive emotion at once. Mom. The word echoed in her mind again, loosely filling in every crack that had formed by worry and guilt. Despite something in the back of her mind screaming at her to stop, the rosetted she-cat curled her tail around Slypaw and brought him slightly closer. Mom. She was a mom now!
