The golden bengal was..... Well he wasnt great at the moment but he was doing better. His fur wasnt the lustrous shimmering state it was before, he'd only managed that with Lostsparsk help but it was smooth and flowing, pretty once again. He was no longer as haggered, hollow behind the eyes though grief still weighed down on him.
Talking with Dawnstar had helped, and he was now even thinking on the offer of spending time with her kittens, a sort of distraction and break rolled into one that didnt remind him of his Mama in every moment. It was huge progress from the listless form he was not long ago, though his training hadnt resumed its full swing yet, and this showed.
Especially given he was actually appearing at this meeting rather then hiding or just not attending.
Obviously he wasnt at full state however if he managed to trip over a kitten, though, even with his wobbles. Flopped on his side from the tumble (gently) clipping his paw on Grottokit's side had caused the tom huffed quietly in frustration, hauling himself to his paws in a shaky but practiced motion and turned to face the kitten. "Im sorry about that kitten, Im not the best at controlling my legs, they like to twitch on me. Are you ok? I didnt hurt you right?
Im Bleedingpaw, your one of Miss Dawnstars kittens, uh Grovekit, right?" probably not, the name didnt 'feel' right but he could only ask.
Looking over the kitten for scuffs and leaning down to clumsily smooth over some ruffled fur Bleedingpaw noted that despite their dad being Slytiger, the only other true bengal in the clan bar him, the little tom had neither the rosettes of his dad or striped of his mom. Bleedingpaw himself actually seemed to resemble Slytiger more, a fact that he did not like thank you, though it was obvious even now Grottokit would grow bigger then him in time.
Another of Mother's meetings. To be quite honest, Grottokit really found no interest in them outside of observing how his mother conducted them - a task that, as he'd come to realize, required an immense amount of patience. He wasn't quite sure how Mother handled it. Sitting amongst the crowd was bad enough. He couldn't image having to speak to them all.
Usually keeping to the side or the back of the group was enough to deter the others from approaching him, but not today. A startled "hfff!" escaped his teeth as paws smacked against his flank and the cat they belonged to took a rather well-deserved tumble. His ears went flat when he straightened back up and shook himself out, directing a displeased stare at the offender: some clumsy oaf who looked like he didn't quite belong amongst the pine forest and seemed far more suited for a more open environment. Even the name didn't fit.
He kept his mouth closed, allowing the silence to drag on for as long as he liked before he sighed through his nose and glanced back to Mother. "Grottokit," he corrected flatly. "And yes."

UGH. IT'S ABOUT TIME!
After their mentor had gone missing out of nowhere, Eveningpaw was fuming. Who'd train them now? And finally, after almost a whole moon of waiting, they'd finally gotten a new mentor. Hopefully this one was better than Lampshade, or whatever her name was.
"Hey, hello!" Eveningpaw happily trotted up to the warrior so-called Meadowwhisper. "Meadowwhisper, right? You'll be my mentor? Pleeeeaaaaase tell me you're not a lazy warrior, I'd love to get some actual training done."
Meadowwhisper narrowed her gaze. Looking down to the apprentice. "Maybe your mentor was lazy because of the disrespect you showed them." She meowed. Her tone light but stern, "Don't ask me if I'm lazy, a good Warrior learns by watching. Not being told." Meadowwhisper meowed. Her jet black tail flicking. "Though I can assure you I'm not lazy". Meadowwhisper stood. Stretching gently, "Let's start fresh, my name is Meadowwhisper. I'm your mentor, I'm no lazy so you sure as hell better not be. Tell me what you've done for training"

Eveningpaw let out a huff of amusement, flicking their tail and frowning in a mock offense. It would take much more than a scolding from a warrior to offend Eveningpaw.
"Disrespect? Nooo, not me! Besides, my mentor was pretty nice! I don't think she'd have disliked me, in my opinion. She was just lazy, I'm sure," They hummed and shuffled their paws looking at Meadowwhisper. "Glad you're not the lazy type, Meadowwhisper! Nice to hear. I'm Eveningpaw, I'm sure you already know. And I know for a fact I ain't lazy. Also, I haven't started on my training at all! Can you believe that! What mentor she was..." The flicked their upright ear, grinning.

rookfires ears twitched as dawnstar began assigning mentors to the newly named apprentices, even though he knew it was highly unlikely he himself would get one assigned to him, he was still curious, would do his best to remember each mentor and apprentice pair for the future. beginning with fishpaw whose assignment caused the dark furred medicine cat to get up from his usual place and move over to mudslide before he could even really realise what he was doing. they werent friends, hell no, they were far from it, but he sort of liked mudslide, less than roachflare who seemed to practically stick to her side, but she was interesting anyway. "aye 'nother apprentice, nice!" he chirped, toothy grin apperant on his white twinged maw. equally white tipped paws cool from the hardpacked soil he had been resting on and lack of movement, rookfire settled next to roachflare and mudslide before curling his tail around his body and stepping onto it to shield his forepaws from the cool. "'s yer second apprentice aye?" he asked before focussing back on the other assignments. spiderthorn who has been a warrior for a moon now, if rook remembered correctly, was assigned one of the apprentices he didnt know. bramblepaw to one of the cats he had treated after the rat n snake battle. ohh icepaw with dawnstar, interesting. grapepaw whom he didnt know besides their odd name and magpiepaw who finally got rid of foggymask as a mentor (which he smirked to himself about, knowing he had not only done shadowclan but magpiepaw a favour) but was still stuck as an apprentice by the looks of it. oh man thats a lot of reassignments. burnetpaw, lionpaw (oh he knew that one!), wisppaw, midnightpaw, eveningpaw (the one who he had taken a liking to), cloverpaw (big cry, former lostspark apprentice), duskpaw (still slacking by the looks of it), moonpaw, wispypaw, turtlepaw (uhhh). oh thats it.
finally done with the ridiculous amount of reassignments (what had happened to all the warriors god damn), there were two very special apprentices called up to receive their warrior names. gutspaw and birdpaw who very much deserved to be full warriors of shadowclan but also made him feel very old. oh man they were grown up now. the medicine cat let out a whoop of support before realising what he had done and quickly, and casually, turning to face roachflare and mudslide again.
roachflare had slipped out of the warriors den at dawnstars call, briefly shaking out his thick tri colour pelt before padding over to the crowd, eyes narrowed in search of mudslide next to whom he took his place. there were a whole bunch of reassignments he struggled to keep up with and ultimately just tried to catch either his own, or mudslides name. his own didnt ring out over the clearing, but mudslide received another apprentice which the smaller warrior welcomes with a friendly nudge of the shoulder and a sheepish grin bug hopes would cheer his friend up. bug was well aware she wasnt much of a fan of apprentices, or well, other cats in general, but dawnstar had chosen her because bug and dawnstar both knew mudslide was a great warrior! she just didnt really..see that herself. he would have to make an effort to change it but bug didnt really have the best grasp of other cats issues..or just preferences. he knew what he liked, most of the time at least. and bug could make an attempt to understand others but in the end it was easier for bug to just listen and offer comfort instead of trying to find a solution. "i can help with the training, if you want" roach offer quietly, nudging his muzzle into his friends fur, fluffier than during greenleaf and tickling his spotted nose.
before he knew, another cat had appeared, the medicine cat, rookfire, whom he considered a friend by now but didnt really seem to understand mudslide like he did. he was a bit .. rough if that was the right word.. not like muds was too fragile or anything, roach was just a bit more of the quiet sort and appreciated others doing the same.
Brambleki- Bramblepaw's chest fluffed out with pride. Ratflame was his mentor huh? He looked around for the brown-pointed she-cat. Finding her, he padded up to her and reached up to touch noses with her. "I look forward to working with you." He meowed in his calm, deep but still young voice.
Oh my! An apprentice? She hadn't been expecting that! Embercloud leapt to her paws and approached the black cat, bending and touches noses with them. She took a slow, silent breath before speaking to steady her voice so she wouldn't stutter. "Hello, Midnightpaw. I look forward to training you." She purred. She could only hope she'd be worthy of this honor!

Midnightpaw turn to the sound of a warrior approaching them. Their mentor! "Hello Embercloud," they meowed, dipping their head respectfully. "I'm so excited to be taught by you," the apprentice says, their eyes gleaming.
Thump, thump, thump her heart beat waiting to hear her new namel “From this day forward you’ll be known as Fishpaw.” fishpaw, mostly drowned out the names of the other kits and only focused on hers, was that rude? maybe , maybe not. Once she heard her new name she gave a happy smile as she looked around for her dad ‘ was he here? Did he see that now shes an apprentice?’ she thought looking around the clearing … she didnt see him, well she could go and look for him later, with a sigh fishy turned her head back to the grimpeak waiting to see who her mentor would be “fishpaw your mentor will be mudslide” dawnstar spoke again.
Fish looked back around the camp looking for mudslide she had seen the warrior a few times but never spoke to them; she hoped they were a good mentor. Fishpaw turned away from grimpeak she hoped that it was okay to move, padding around the crowd she lookedfor mudslide finding the brown and cream she-cat “ Hello! she meowed looking at them with her green eyes

The meeting droned on, Birdpaw slipping into her usual state of dissociation. New apprentices, old apprentices, Gutspaw and Birdpaw were getting their warrior ceremonies, it was just the same old same old.
...
BIRDPAW??
The apprentice snapped to attention, her amber eyes widening slightly in surprise. Oh, yeah, she supposed it was her time to get her warrior name! She probably should have been made a warrior last meeting, but had been too despondent to even bother showing up. And by the sound of it, she was the first of her siblings to get their warrior name. An unfamiliar emotion warmed her chest, spurring her forward towards the Grimpeak. She felt almost... amused? Was this... irony? It must have been. How ironic that Birdpaw, the ditz, the clutz, the idiot, was the first of her siblings to get their warrior name. And only 9 of them had to die for it to happen!
Birdpaw settled under the Grimpeak, her small form shadowed by the giant, splintered log. This was it. Birdpaw didn't look back over the crowd, for she knew neither Papa nor Mossfreckle were here to see this big day. She wasn't about to delude herself with hope any longer. A pang filled her heart at the thought of Freckle--she hadn't seen him in so long. But she was going to be a new cat, and this cat was strong! Strong without anyone! Strong for herself! Mossfreckle would be proud of her, she was sure of it. For the first time since before Mama had died, excitement took hold of her. It was finally her time!
[ @elio - come see Birdie princess get her warrior name!! @Dark you too :3]
