Larkfire hadn't expected companionship, nor had she even gestured towards wanting it. Despite this, when a familiar slim figure materialized in the corner of her vision, the youngest enforcer shifted out of the shadows, side-eyeing Shadefrost as the tom settled beside her. He had quite a lot of wounds, and though they were patched to a T, Larkfire was uncertain if breathing wrong would make him bleed all over again like she'd seen during the battle. He was still limping, that was for sure. Lark herself had been in enough street fights to know when to back down from a clash of cats. Apparently, though, Clan cats just didn't know when to step back. Had Shadefrost not been a part of ShadowClan and had ShadowClan not had a healer, wound infections would have killed the tom by now.

Frowning quietly, Larkfire directed her amber gaze downward, forearms (attempting to) wrap around Flowerkit to pull the little she-kit in for a hug. It was no use pushing the kitten away. Amber chips of ice softened momentarily for the motherless kitten, and Larkfire felt her lips thin into a straight line as she drifted further away in thought. This was Elmshadow's kin; she'd have to talk to the dark medic about Ruekit and Flowerkit.

She listened, intently, to what Shadefrost had come here to say to her; that he was sorry. When he was done, the youngest enforcer found the corners of her mouth turning upward in a sardonic, humorless smile. "I don't need an apology." She said finally, canting her head to the side to scrutinize her denmate. Expression hardening ever-so-slightly, Larkfire let her amber hues flick meaningfully in Mousepaw's direction. "I don't need your apologies, Shadefrost, because someone else does." If there was one thing Larkfire was strict about, it was apprentices. "Have you even said anything to your own apprentice yet? He fought in a starsdamn battle, Shadefrost. I don't care if he had training." The enforcer leaned forward, voice dropping so Flowerkit would not be privy to their conversation. "I don't care if he has all the training in the world. He's still an apprentice, a youngster, like so many others in that fight were. If there's anything Mousepaw deserves, it's an apology from his mentor, who acted recklessly and put him in danger."

Leaning back and away from the tom, Larkfire turned her attention back to The Shadowledge, where Dawnstar had begun speaking --- about Ivysnake's death. "For the record, Shadefrost, you are forgiven on my part. Just keep in mind that there is someone more important who deserves your condolences." Her expression morphed into a stoic, stony mask. And yet, the sternness in her tone had vanished. Shadefrost was not a bad individual, he just needed to know how to act, when. "Ivysnake is dead. Had you kept up that mouse-brained charade at the battle, ShadowClan might have been without Elmshadow as well."

As Larkfire began speaking, Shade's gaze flickered to her, and a slight twitch of agitation stirred within him. What was with that smile? It bothered him more than the act of having to show her gratitude. However, he quickly reined in his frustration, realizing that this wasn't the appropriate time or place for such emotions. He needed to shift his focus back to the matter at hand. Returning to Larkfire, Shade's eyes followed her gaze, leading him to Mousepaw's unsuccessful attempt to blend in with the shadows. It wasn’t as if Shadefrost had forgotten about Mousepaw or anything like that. He’d simply found him last. But with the apprentice now in sight, the warrior decided to do himself a favor and get this over with. He waited patiently for Larkfire to finish speaking, understanding the importance of respecting her words. ”Alright, I get it,” he said, limping forward, resignation lacing his voice as he spoke. ”What I did was stupid. That’s why I’m trying to make it right.” After he’d finished, Shadefrost made his way over to Mousepaw, flicking his tail to say “goodbye” as he did so. It only took a few moments until Shade was about a fox tail away from the apprentice. He would have been there sooner if it weren’t for his shoulder, but slower was better than never. ”Hey Mouse,” he said, ”I know you don’t like me, and I know that I haven’t been much of a mentor to you, but sit still and hear me out.” He paused, gathering his thoughts and ensuring that Mousepaw was listening. [B]"First and foremost, I want to apologize for placing you in danger during the battle. I neglected my duties as a mentor and failed to prioritize your safety. It was irresponsible of me, and for that, I ask your forgiveness. Secondly, I want to say thank you for stepping in to help when I was at my weakest. Though I’m not exactly sure what was happening while I was out, I know you showed great courage and bravery to help me, and I truly appreciate it.” Shade took one of his black paws and placed it on top of the apprentice’s head then, with a nod of reassurance, he began to withdraw. He didn't need to linger anymore; now that he had found his apprentice, his mission was complete. Mousepaw was a promising young cat, and Shade believed in his potential to become a great warrior someday.

At the news, Hawkbite's maw dropped slightly in disbelief. His gaze filled with disgust. A medicine cat was dead?! At the paws of ThunderClan no less. As the fur along his shoulders prickled, the tom worked his paws into the soil beneath him. His claws were digging holes as he listened. Dawnstar was right, with having just fought the dogs and ThunderClan, this wasn't the time to attack. Some cats weren't in shape for it.

Hawkbite stayed silent, his voice wasn't needed right now as Dawnstar continued the meeting.

Woollyfeather's attention was caught between Dawnstar and Shadefrost.
Her eyes narrowed.
What in the hell could ever excuse murdering a Medicine Cat, former warrior or not? Much less ganging up on them while they were alone? She bared the faintest bit of her teeth, anger boiling within her. She'd never been fond of the other Clans but.... she'd thought they were better than that.
Ivysnake didn't deserve such a disrespectful death.
She closed her eyes for a brief moment, sending a silent prayer that the Medicine Cat saw her way safely among the ancestors, but her thoughts were rudely interrupted by a very loud voice.
Her anger mixed with irritation as Shadefrost tried to ask for forgiveness for... that little stunt he had decided to pull at the battle for Sunkissed Creek. It wasn't the exact reason he was asking for forgiveness, but you can't just.... move past attacking your Medicine Cat and putting a young apprentice, his own young apprentice in danger.
Mousepaw was a brave little apprentice who never should have been put in such a position.
She had to bite back a retort in the other warrior's direction.
After Icethroat had badgered her for a small comment, she refused to voice anything while it was still fresh on her mind. Who knows what kind of a spat it'd devolve into with such a direct opinion.
And besides, there was still an ongoing meeting and she would not talk over Dawnstar.
Instead, she stood to distance herself from the group she'd originally sat near and found a spot away from it, far enough away she wouldn't have to hear the conversation.
She didn't say anything as she sat deside Hawkbite. She trusted that she wouldn't need to, the look on her face said enough, coupled with the direction she'd come from.
She closed her eyes once again, finding solace in her friends' presence.

Their medicine cat apprentice was dead? Shock buzzed through the five moon old molly as Ravenkit’s eyes blinked in a mixture of fury, bewilderment, and surprise. Why would those stinking ThunderClan cats murder their medicine cat? They already had enough issues to deal with on their own! ShadowClan is already suffering from the defeat of ThunderClan, so why should they decide to act like they rule the forest and kill one of their own? An irritable huff was quick to escape the mottled feline, her tail lashing as she sat down in the marshy clearing, ears pinned against her little head. ThunderClan was filled with nothing but scared squirrels. All they do is climb and climb and climb until the fall and fail. That’s what they are. Ravenkit didn’t really know much about the other clans, but she knew for a definite fact that they were filled with nothing but a bunch of meanies and are jerks. That was at least what the young mottled molly thought they were.

The kit felt herself sag with relief as her big sister wrapped her up into an embrace, and Flowerkit snuggled up close to Larkie, sniffing softly and rubbing her face to free her expression from any tearstains from her nest in the nursery that had been growing more and more empty by the day. The little calico tripod blocked out the conversation between Larkie and the big cat beside them, instead trying to focus on the meeting. Which she immediately wished she hadn't, because then there was more death being announced, so she just let out a small sigh and stared at the ground. It was a mean world, but at least she had Larkie and Rue.

Sometimes she wondered if her clan had too much fluff in their ears, she wondered why she tried working on these speeches if cats only listened to half of what she saying. She shoved down her growing agitation, knowing that she simply searching for fuel for her horrible temper. She got no protests from any cat so that was the most important thing, so long as they'd follow she'd get what she wanted.

To postpone the news about the deputy and in hopes of replacement might miraculously pop into her head if she continued staring and thinking long enough, Dawnstar moved on with the meeting, starting with the changes she decided to make.

"With war on the horizon, the warriors, Enforcers, and I have more important things to worry about other than the kit curriculum. Especially when ShadowClan has so many Queens and Elders who could be stepping up and actually taking care of the curriculum. So I'm making changes to who's running the curriculum classes. From here on, Elders and Queens are required to take over teaching a class from the Kit curriculum, aside from Herbs. If Elmshadow has someone he trusts enough to teach kits about herbs, then he can work out who he wants to teach that class. Otherwise, all Elders and Queens will serve as primary teachers for all kit lessons from here out."

"If an Elder or Queen is unable to teach a class for whatever reason, it is their responsibility to seek out and reassign a substitute teacher to teach that lesson. The Subs can be a Warrior or Enforcer who has already taught the lesson or someone entirely new. I will be making the teachers who were formally in charge of lessons substitute teachers, so that way if an Elder or Queen needs to find a sub they'll have a few to choose from already on paw."

"Aside from Nightshiver, every other Queen and Elder must come to speak to me and tell me what lesson they'll be teaching from here on out. If an Elder or Queen do not come and talk to me, I will hunt you down myself or send one of my Enforcers to. You better pray that for the latter, cause if I have to hunt you down to teach a class, there will be hell to pay." Dawnstar was not in the mood to hunt down cats to teach classes, and she did feel like it was a bit much to send Enforcers to hunt them down.

"Besides who will be teaching the Kit Curriculum, which lessons you have to take will be changed as well. Kits will only need to complete two lessons, one of them being Night Class, as all kits in ShadowClan should know how to navigate the darkness. The other lesson can be anything the kit chooses." Dawnstar didn't have any kits to apprentice this meeting, which was upsetting. Hopefully, with these changes, she'd be getting apprentices faster.

"Apprentice requirements are also changing. I no longer care about whether you've gone to a gathering or not." The Gatherings were... hard to predict anyway. "However, Clan meetings are rarely if ever skipped out on and I expect apprentices to be here and paying attention to them." If the apprentices could sit in for at last two clan meetings and properly pay attention to them, she'd consider it a pass.

"Aside from the usual hunting and fighting lessons, I will now require a stealth lesson done before I allow you to become a warrior. I don't care if it's night hunting, ambushing, or whatever. So long as it pertains to the night and the shadows, it's acceptable. You can not call yourself a member of ShadowClan if you do not know how to move unseen through the overgrowth or blend in with the darkness." One would be surprised to know how many cats actually got away with not knowing how to navigate the darkness and still become warriors of ShadowClan, now cats had to learn.

"Speak up if you have questions or concerns, if I don't hear any I'm moving on."

[The ShadowClan Resources has been updated to reflect the current announcement, and a few other mild changes to the apprentices and elder requirements.

RPers with Queens and Elders may VM me about Kit Curriculum Classes if they do not wish to have their character talk to Dawnstar.

I will be updating both the Resources and ShadowClan Kit Curriculum Finder. Any Current Classes being taught may be finished with the current teachers, however, any new classes must be taught by an Elder or Queen or handed off to a sub teacher by an elder or queen. Sub teachers can not simply teach classes without the primary teachers/RPers' permission.

Dawnstar will end up assigning an Elder or Queen a kit curriculum class if Elders and Queens do not make a request to teach a class by July 13 at 11:59 PM CST. ]

honeysuckle jump to her paws. "we are going to the clan if we are Queens we should stay in a nursery and care for our children!" honeysuckle looked up. "that is not tradition! we must follow tradition!" she hissed. "I will not leave my kit alone while I go to each other apprentices or Warriors that already went through training and have mentors!" she angrily lashed her tail. "it is not our job as Queens to Apprentice apprentices that already have mentors!" her fur fluffed up "in the elders they already went through all the warrior training battles and everything they deserve a break in a peaceful rest of their life until they go to starclan!" she was so angry that she said clawing in to the ground. @Undertaker

Skybranch sat. She heard that she would now have to teach a lesson in the kit curriculum and wasn't sure what she though about that, since her kits would be coming anytime.
