Moonspot smiled to Thrushstar and dipped her head in greeting as he came to them. she purred softly as she started her explination of their absence. "Well Little Leafkit here suggested the both of us go out on a small Hunting Vacation together just for two days. we had planned to go fishing the first day and camp out the rest of the few days, but a little someone was so persistent in staying out camping just a few more days longer. i had agreed but to both of us we let time slip away from us with family time together. so with that we came back and i let her as well come with a little treat from our adventure" she said smileing happily. her mind started to relive the adventure Leafkit and her had camping and fishing out together.

Leafkit's tail swayed happily before she carefully set down the fish before speaking happily. "Yep and it was so much fun as well we caught alot of fish one night for dinner, then we had a simming in the morning to." she said smileing to him.

It appears that every kit has found a way to arrive and respond to his summons for them. He cast Stormkit a worried look. The soon-to-be 'paw was quivering like frightened prey. Thrushstar acknowledged Stormkit with a gesture of pity. Don't worry, Stormkit; this meeting will be over as soon as possible for your sake. He grumbled, shaking the thoughts from his mind so he could concentrate on his current task.

"You have all reached the age where it is time for you to be apprenticed." He looked expectantly at the four, blinking with pride. A fatherly smile on his face.

"Honeykit, Russetkit, Stormkit, Sandkit, you have reached the age of six moons and until you receive your warrior names you will be known as Honeypaw, Russetpaw, Ripplepaw, and Sandpaw."

"Honeypaw [ @Rose ] you will be apprenticed under Flameheart [ @SpiritedWarrior ]. I hope she will show you the strength she always possesses to make you into a great warrior."

"Sandpaw [ @tallulah ], your mentor will be Sootfur [ @Wingnettle ]. I hope he'll make you into a fine warrior with his values."

"Ripplepaw [ @Kay~ ], as my authority as clan leader and under the guidance of my warrior ancestors you have been renamed due to already having a Stormpaw at the moment. We don't need the clan to get mixed up with such small matters of identical names. You will be apprenticed under Primosepetal [ @Larissa ]. I hope they will teach you all they know." He hoped the new apprentice wouldn't be offended by the name change. But it had to be done.

"And Russetpaw [ @lio ], you will be apprenticed under me. I will show you everything that I know that I have gained from my former mentor. Planting you with my knowledge."

Due to his confidence in his legs and the fact that he was a cat, Thrushstar hopped off the branch and landed on all fours. He moved swiftly over and bumped noses with his apprentice. Displaying a crooked grin to Russetpaw. "Greetings Russetpaw." Once his cherry nose dismissed their physical touch. Resuming his ascent, he swiftly made his way back to his seat. Allowing his clan to applaud as the new apprentice's names were announced. His blue gaze shifted to look at two specific cats. But made the decision to join in the applause after a brief lull.

Longsky purred as he waited for Ripplepaw to find him. His tail sticking up to show where he was. Letting out a yawn as he looked around briefly.

The meeting continued on, and with it his and his sisters names were called. Sitting up a bright straighter, the young tom forgot all about his previous misgivings. Excitement glowed in his eyes as his little paws tapped the ground below.

And just like that, he was Sandpaw.

The name felt weird on his tongue, but he turned to smile at Mama who had showed up just before. He leaned against her, smiling up wide at her and then at his sister. "We're 'paws now, Russ!" In a delightful show he aimed to boop her nose with his own, squeaks coming from him. It wasn't done yet though, they still had to be assigned mentors!

Turning back to Thrushstar Sandpaw awaited eagerly to see who would be teaching him. He didn't know a lot of the warriors yet, but hopefully soon that would change. The warriors name rolled off of his leaders tongue, and in a moment the newly named apprentice froze. Sootfur?? Ears drawing back, he glanced around for the warrior. Was this... some sort of joke? An uncomfortable feeling settled in the pit of his stomach as his gaze finally found the warrior. Just as he was about to head over his perked ears caught one more announcement; his sister was to be the leaders' apprentice.

"Oh wow!" Turning from his search Sandpaw brought his wide pale green eyes onto Russetpaw. Admiration shown clearly in them, dancing from paw to paw. "Congratulations Russ!" That had to be special, right? Being named as the leaders' apprentice? A purr rumbled from him as he lifted a paw and ruffled her head lightly. "You gotta tell me all about it, okay? Maybe we can train together??" Hopefully they could.

Giving a final nod, Sandpaw then turned back to where Sootfur was. He was still next to that scary orange cat, but... Sandpaw was afraid what would happen if he didn't go up to greet him. Slinking over carefully, the newly named 'paw made it a point to not look at the orange cat beside his new mentor and instead smiled hesitently. "Hi Sootfur..." His voice was soft, eyes just barely lifted to meet the older toms. Swallowing, he shifted from paw to paw before finally... "I'm sorry I wasn't in for the rest of your class. I- I don't even know what happened. I wanted to stay in it, but..." What other explanation could he give when he didn't even know why?

Hanging his head and scuffing his paws against the dirt, Sandpaw let out a defeated sigh before looking back up to his new mentor. "I promise I'll do my best in training though! I'll always listen and... and I'll be the best warrior ever!"

Sorreldust purred with pride as her children were named apprentices.
"Russetpaw! Sandpaw!"
She was the first and loudest among the crowd to call her beautiful children's names.
"Ripplepaw! Honeypaw!"
She didn't dare approach the two yet, but there was a clear pride in her eyes as she watched the Mentors approach their new apprentices.
As Sootfur passed, hee tail brushed against his shoulder to catch his attention.
"I know you'll take good care of my boy. I trust you will be a great mentor to him."
She was actually happy it was Sootfur. He and Flameheart were proving to be great warriors with much potential, warriors she'd feel could teach them well.

She was kind of sad she didn't get any of the new apprentices as her own, but she knew all the warriors picked would be amazing mentors, and so, she chanted the names with pure glee. "Sandpaw! Russetpaw! Ripplepaw! Honeypaw!"

Sandpaw's words calmed her a little. Yeah, Mama was probably asleep. Surely that was what it-

Oh! There was Mama! The little she-cat grinned widely as Sorreldust made her way to the meeting, worries fading away. Mama was proud of them, and that made her happy. She chirped in happiness as Sandpaw booped his nose against hers, giggling quietly.

"We are! I'm so excited!" she exclaimed quietly, tail waving behind her with anticipation.

As Thrushfurstar continued, she listened carefully. Honeypaw was given Flameheart as a mentor- wasn't that the big cat Sandpaw was afraid of? Oh dear, she hoped that that would be okay. It was a good thing that her or Sandpaw hadn't been given her as a mentor. Next was Sandpaw, who had been named mister Sootfur as a mentor. Oh!! How lovely! Mister Sootfur was very nice, and she was glad that her brother had gotten someone so nice as a mentor. It was quite the shame that they had been taken out of his Clan Etiquette class, but hopefully the warrior didn't mind. Sandpaw, however, didn't appear the most enthusiastic about his mentor. Watching her brother's ears draw back with a not-so-happy expression on his face. Did Sandpaw not like mister Sootfur anymore? But she thought that mister Sootfur was nice- even if he was sitting next to the big orange cat Sandpaw didn't like. Maybe she'd need to ask him later, to make sure her brother was alright. She didn't want Sandpaw to be upset, after all.

After Sandpaw came Storm... no, Ripplepaw. She didn't quite understand the renaming, but it did make sense to not be confused. Russetpaw didn't know what she'd do if someone else had the same name as her- that'd be very confusing! Ripplepaw had gotten Longsky as a mentor, who she didn't know much about.

Wait, that meant it was her turn! Oh, how excited she was to learn who her mentor would be!

Russetpaw blinked up toward Thrushfurstar as he mentioned her name. Then he continued talking, and... wait, what? He would be mentoring her? Russetpaw's eyes widened with shock at the news. She would be mister Thrushfurstar's apprentice! Yellow eyes turned to Sandpaw with pure glee sparkling within them. Hopefully her brother and Mama would be proud of her for being chosen by the leader to be his apprentice!

Sandpaw's congratulations brought a purr to rumble in her throat. She giggled once more as he ruffled her head, shaking it gently. "I'll tell you all about it as long as you tell me how training with mister Sootfur is!" she said, flicking her tail to try and brush it against his side affectionately (and encouragingly).

As Thrushfurstar jumped down, Russetpaw stretched up all the way onto her tippy-toes to press her nose against his.

"I'll do my best to be a good apprentice, mister Thrushfurstar!" she said, lowering her voice enough for only him to hear. Her ears flicked and she stepped back, watching him return to his post on top of the Thunderwillow. Stars, she was so excited!

Once finished, she returned to her spot in the crowd, purring as her Clanmates chanted their names. Russetpaw watched Sorreldust and Sandpaw talk to Sootfur, worry still bubbling within her. She didn't want to interrupt, however, so she stayed where she was and kept an eye on her family. Of course, she made room for them to sit next to her if they wanted, though.

But, she was an apprentice now!! The leader's apprentice!! How exciting!!

Honeykit couldn't fathom what part of her heart twisted when Thrushstar smiled down at her and her peers. She didn't understand it, and searching the expression on his face multiple times only further bewildered her. What did it mean, that smile? Was she missing something? However, the dainty calico wasn't allowed to dwindle on these questions for long, because the tan-furred leader began speaking once more.

'Honeykit, Russetkit, Stormkit, Sandkit, you have reached the age of six moons ... you will be known as Honeypaw, Russetpaw, Ripplepaw, and Sandpaw.'

Her name. It was now officially Honeypaw. The change was like nothing she'd dreamt up as a kit. There was no thrill to it. No excitement or twinkling stars or .. or anything a little kit could imagine. It was just a simple fact. She'd gone from Honeykit, to Honeypaw. The truth hit her like a tidal wave, that there was nothing fancy to ranking up, and Honeypaw's trembling shoulders threatened to droop. But she wouldn't let herself sag, not in front of all these cats. Not when her dad could be watching.

Swallowing, Honeypaw squared her shoulders and leaned forward on the tips of her toes, olive hues seeking her father's pelt. Where was Thunderblaze? Surely he'd shown up by now? Or perhaps he was out hunting, that was why he hadn't been able to make it yet? Yes?

Once again, Thrushstar's voice cut her out of her rampaging thoughts, and the little kit's eyes widened with quiet delight as her mentor .. he had given her Flameheart as a mentor! Flameheart, one of the cats who'd genuinely tried to help Honeypaw with her kit classes. Flameheart, who had known Mapleleaf! Swiveling on her paws, the newly named apprentice hurried over to touch her nose to the tabby Keeper's, as was custom.

Alas, her good mood was easily ruined.

As the meeting commenced, so did the other apprentice assignments. And Thrushstar's final words did not fail to have her heart stop in her throat. Her denmate .. the cat who had been named beside her.. was Thrushstar's apprentice? On a regular occasion, Honeypaw would not have given an insect's wing of note.
And really, she did not care! Her heart and mind seemed to think differently, though.

Jealousy. Bitter, green, and vile. It erupted in Honeypaw's heart like a hurricane. She didn't know what caused it. But one look towards Russetpaw and Sandpaw, so very happy with their family, gave her the answer. How was it fair, that she had to suffer so much, sibling-less and parent-less? How was it fair, that they found it so easy to smile? To laugh, to live, to love? Indeed, the radiant joy that'd been displayed on her face moments ago had dimmed to nothing, leaving behind an empty, vexed husk.

Jerking her gaze away from the pair of siblings, Honeypaw turned her attention back to her leader, olive hues becoming irate chips of ice. Angling her snout in the air with a sniff, Honeypaw proceeded to ignore any odd looks sent her way. They didn't deserve her time, anyway. Thunderblaze did, and he wasn't here. She'd just have to give her father the good news that she'd been named an apprentice later.

The Siamese apprentice watched as the kits were called forward and given their apprentice names. "Honeypaw! Russetpaw! Ripplepaw! Sandpaw!" Hazelpaw called out, her mood lifted by the naming of the new apprentices. Thrushstar had even decided to mentor Russetpaw himself!
