Re: Come Save Me [p]
Darkpaw
___________
[76/100]
Darkpaw let in a sharp inhale of pain when he made contact with the side of Larkpaw’s face, the force behind the blow being far stronger than he had intended. He was half tempted to nurse the injury but was hit with a wave of satisfaction at the fact that the blow had done what was designed and sent the she-cat sprawling back. The tom figured, of course, that Larkpaw was expecting him to favor his right side more and had planned accordingly for his first attack.
The dark-furred apprentice hadn’t actually done a lot of battle training and was doing a bit of improvising, but he figured he’d manage. He wouldn’t try so hard to do things the 'ShadowClan way' but would fight in a way that felt natural to him.
Darkpaw looked at the lithe she-cat curiously when she made a questioning face at him. By StarClan she had the cutest facial expressions he mused but was quickly caught off guard by the she-cat quickly darting to his side. Having been slightly surprised he wasn’t able to react in time and as such took the brunt of the blow as he attempted to move away sideways. Off balance from the sudden hit as well as his own hurried movement, the tom took a step, only for his injured leg to give out from under him which elicited a panicked yelp as he went tumbling to the ground. He had just gotten on Larkpaw about being distracted and now, here he was, on the ground because he himself had gotten distracted as well.
Aware of his newly compromising position, he rolled away onto his belly to avoid being jumped on and pinned. He then attempted to get up once more before finding himself unable to do so at the moment. ”Why now?” he asked himself angrily under his breath. His earlier attack had done more damage to his already injured shoulder than he realized. The adrenaline had made the pain bearable but that didn’t change that the damage had already been done. Drawing his injured leg close to him, he bristled his fur to appear larger and bared his teeth to try to ward Larkpaw off. He held out his right paw above him to try to swat at his companion should she draw too close while he tried to figure out how to get himself out of this predicament.

Re: Come Save Me [p]
Larkpaw

A flash of white fangs signified Lark's amusement at her companion's position on the floor, laying on his back. Within moments Lark had sprung back over, pinning the tom down. Well, technically, she wasn't heavy enough to pin him down, but the fact that he couldn't get up was helping. Her claws slid out on their own accord, digging into Darkpaw's shoulders. It was a cheat move, hurting him where he was already injured, but Larkpaw hadn't been taught to play fair. Couldn't Fablespinner see her now? The irony was laughable. Wouldn't mother be so proud?
“Looks like I wi–” The smaller feline began to announce her triumph, realizing too late what she’d done, and what she was still doing. “Oh no.” With a quiet gasp, Larkpaw retracted her claws and leaped off her companion, amber eyes wide. “I’m so s-sorry.” For once in her life, Lark couldn’t help herself. Her confidence drained at the sight of what she’d done, and the words came out in a stammer. She'd let herself get too caught up in the moment, and she'd hurt her friend. The grey molly felt like a coward at this point, wanting to turn tail and run from her mistakes. But Lark was too proud for that, as she'd already established so many times before.
Hesitantly crouching at her denmate's side, Lark grimaced slightly at the sight of fresh blood. It wasn't much, Lark had only reopened the wound, not done a lot of damage, but still the guilt ate away at her. "I'm sorry." She apologized softly, lifting a paw to press it against his forearm. "Wait, don't move if it hurts. I didn't mean to- The claws-"

Re: Come Save Me [p]
Darkpaw

Darkpaw’s eyes widened when Larkpaw leaped towards him, unable to swat at her fast enough to prevent the she-cat from landing on him and pinning him down. Trying to wriggle free, he couldn’t do much too get her to loosen her grip because of his injury.
Speaking of injury…
”Oww!” he yowled when he felt Larkpaw’s claws sink into his shoulder followed by the she-cat getting off of him not long after. Blinded by the pain he let out a snarl and prepared to swing around to snap at her before he saw the pained expression on her face. Oh that’s right… he was training with Larkpaw, this wasn’t combat, he wasn’t in any danger. She had made an honest mistake and hadn’t intended to hurt him.
The black tom closed his eyes, forced his fur to lie down flat, and took a deep inhale. 1… 2… 3… he counted all the way to ten before letting out a long exhale. It was okay. He was okay. They were fine. He opened his icy blue orbs and looked down at his shoulder where the injury had been reopened, fresh blood splattered on the ground and matting his fur. He gave it a tentative lick before letting out a sharp hiss of pain.
He said nothing when he felt the warmth of the she-cat as she sat next to him, and instead allowed her to fuss over him while he began cleaning the wound gently. After a moment of silence and listening to her speak he turned towards her and offered her a small grin ”You’re good Larkpaw, I’m fine,” he mewed calmly in an attempt to settle her down. ”For someone so cute, you sure know how to cause some damage,” he said, wincing a bit when he shifted his weight. ”I’ll be okay, but maybe we should stop for the time being,” he suggested. He didn’t want to admit it but he just got his tail handed to him, though he was a bit handicapped. He knew the she-cat was going to protest so he raised his tail to boop her nose gently ”It was an accident and I’m fine. I’ll have you know that I sparred with Cinderblaze with claws unsheathed so this is nothing,” he boasted, puffing out his chest.
[ @ Kat no worries! This one is a bit long but don’t worry about matching its length!]

Re: Come Save Me [p]
Larkpaw

Words coming to a halt as Larkpaw had no idea what to say since everything seemed to make it worse, the grey she-cat watched in stoic silence, orange gaze shimmering with a feeling Lark had only begun to experience since after she joined ShadowClan: Worry. Concern for the Clanmates she'd never thought she'd get attached to. Before, Lark had had only one goal in life, to please her mother. But now? Now so many new possibilities had opened up that Lark knew not what do to. It felt like she'd fallen into some foreign world of feelings, with no clue how it worked.
Darkpaw started speaking then, and Lark didn't fail to notice the slight pain visible in his expression. Bleeding burning skies, she'd really messed up. Despite what he was saying, Darkpaw was not in any sense fine. 'Well... Technically there is one way Darkpaw could be considered fi-' Her thoughts came to a screeching halt, and Lark merely stood there a moment, blinking at her own stupidity. Really, she ought to stop fantasising about her injured friend.
'For someone so cute, you sure know how to cause some damage.'
For once, Darkpaw's attempts at flirting completely flew over her head, as her increasing worry erased whatever else could have been. And then, as if he was trying to pretend nothing was wrong, her dark-furred denmate started boasting about having sparred with his dead mentor???? Paws down, that was the worst attempt at a topic change, but the lithe grey female couldn't help but snort with amusement, gently batting her friend's tail back to the ground..
"We should get you back to camp..." Her suggestion-order was clearly hesitant here, as Lark was assuming she was no longer given the right to boss him around as she pleased. After all, this time it was she who had hurt him, not another apprentice. And then came the question of going to Elmshadow or not. Because on the bright side, her friend would be patched up. ...But then she'd have to explain why he was bleeding in the first place. And she'd probably get in trouble.
As worried as Larkpaw was for her friend, she was also very ashamed to admit her selfishness. 'Take care of that later.' A voice reminded, causing the she-cat to spur into action, stepping up to attempt to assist her companion to his paws. "You can lean on me."

Re: Come Save Me [p]
Darkpaw
___________
[80/100]
Darkpaw felt terrible. He could tell that Larkpaw was feeling bad and nothing he had said changed that. He figured that the she-cat wouldn’t believe him when he said he was fine, but by the stars, he even gave a half-effort attempt at flirting to try to distract her which of course didn’t work this time. He felt like it was his fault, after all, it was his idea to do some battle training while knowing he wasn’t quite at 100 percent. He felt like he didn’t deserve to have the she-cat fussing over him so much. After all, he was always messing with her and he figured that there were times she genuinely grew irritated with him.
When his companion suggested that they get back to camp he nodded and gratefully accepted her offer to allow him to lean on her. After much struggle and a lot of pained hissing, the older apprentice managed to get to his paws. Oh gosh, he hoped Larkpaw didn’t force him to go into the medicine cat’s den. Although the blood on his shoulder was already beginning to clot, he was still worried that he may get some of it onto Larkpaw. ”Let me know if I’m too heavy, okay? he mewed softly as he began to slightly lean onto the she-cat.
As they began to walk, the tom made sure to step down gingerly with his injured leg. Stars-be-damned he hated this feeling of uselessness. Here he was, the apprentice of the former deputy, having to be escorted back to camp because of an insignificant injury. To be frank, he was pissed. Turning his head a bit to softly say to his denmate, he smiled softly ”You know what Larkpaw, I’m almost jealous of whatever cat is lucky enough to have you by their side when you find yourself a mate when we’re warriors. With all the fussing you’re doing,” he said, leaning down a bit to gently lick the top of her head ”Thank you. Seriously.”
[ @ Kat Hmm if you want, we could do 1 more post here each and then move onto the plot with Daypaw? Also I really hope this makes sense. I zoned out writing half of this lol]

Re: Come Save Me [p]
Larkpaw

Mutely nodding as Darkpaw said something about weight, Lark offered her own frame, letting her denmate lean on her as they began making their way back to ShadowClan. She said nothing, letting her own thoughts drift to and fro, swimming through the guilt and doubt and worry.
Amber eyes flicked down to the floor as the pair covered more ground, where Lark eventually noticed how much care Darkpaw was putting into each step. That evaluation only managed to make her cringe even more. She'd really hurt him. And now Larkpaw had no idea what to do. Either she could report it to Elmshadow and risk getting both of them in trouble, or she could pretend nothing happened. But Lark didn't want her friend's wound to get infected. Jaw set with grim determination, the lean she-cat decided that punishment or not, Elmshadow or Ivysnake needed to treat Darkpaw's wound, no matter how small or insignificant it was.
So lost in her thoughts was the apprentice that she barely heard when Darkpaw started speaking again, followed by a lick to the top of her head. What had induced that? And after a few moments, realizing that her denmate was expectantly awaiting a reply, Lark inclined her head to look at him better. What had he said again? Wracking her brain in an attempt to recall, the white and grey she-cat nearly skidded to a halt when she remembered.
Somehow, though, she managed to keep going, the only indication that she was surprised a brief flattening of her ears. Clearing her throat, Larkpaw managed a small smile. "I guess so." The words were clipped, mostly because Lark was too preoccupied to actually formulate a smart response, and also because that conversation just made her feel queasy with a million butterflies.
[ @Darkclaws - Darkpaw | Alright! Also don't worry about it lol ]
