--Rainburst--
Rainburst turned to give the other warrior a look. Really? Was Snowfire really doing this? "Shadowclan warriors shouldn't care about any other cat than themselves," Rainburst responded icily, a change from her usual bubbly demeanor. "We couldn't have gotten this far being soft-hearted weaklings that help other Clans, could we? We need to care only about ourselves." Rainburst leveled the other cat with a long look. Normally, she'd be happy to help other cats. Normally. But this was Thunderclan they were talking about...Rainburst blew out a breath.
"But this is what Dawnstar wants, so we will comply. Although I have a feeling she isn't doing this because of the goodness in her heart, Snowfire." Rainburst meowed, sitting back and wrapping her tail around her paws. "I'm certain we're only doing this because we can get something out of it. That's how Shadowclan cats should behave. You'd do best to remember that." Rainburst had learned that long ago, hadn't she? She'd do best to remember it too. Suddenly, Rainburst snapped out of her strangely cold, pessimistic trance and returned to her usual bubbly self. "Anyways, wanna go for a hunt together later?" she meowed brightly.

Re: The Shadowledge
High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]Dawnstar sometimes wondered how well her clan knew her. She quickly picked up how many cats seemed annoyed if not upset with how Dawnstar said they were going to help ThunderClan. No one dared to speak out against her, but a pair of cats did obtain her attention. Brackentail and his apprentice, Shinepaw. As Orchidmoon and Vixenpaw both got into brief spats with the other mentor-apprentice pair, Dawnstar curled her lips exposing her long fangs.
"Brackentail and Shinepaw. You two are seriously testing my patience." Dawnstar narrowed her eyes and felt her hackles raise as she stood at the edge of the Shadowlege, flexing her muscles, three seconds away from leaping and shredding the pair herself. "I don't give care if you disagree or agree with how I do everything, but you should have the common sense to not ridicule or test me when everyone around you can hear." Complete idiots, the both of them.
"Shinepaw, unless you want to live the soft life of kittypet or join the other weak-hearted clans, I suggest you start doing more than just flapping your gums. I'm not above breaking your jaw to teach you to shut your damn mouth." The leader was already on edge, mouthy, stupid apprentices weren't helping her get her anger under control. "And Brackentail, it seems that she gets her mouth from you. If you can't control your apprentice properly maybe it's time she has a mentor who can." This wasn't the first time he's been snapped at by clanmates.
"Rainburst, you don't currently have an apprentice. Perhaps you can teach Shinepaw a few manners. She'll be your new apprentice."The leader twitched an ear, catching the end tail of Rainburst was telling Snowfire. The molly's tongue was sharp, Brackentail clearly let Shinepaw get away with everything. She expected Rainburst to drill it into Shinepaw's head that that was not how things worked in ShadowClan.
"You," Dawnstar fixed Brackentail with a disapproving hiss, "are lucky that I'm only giving your former apprentice away. Don't expect to be training any new apprentices any time soon." Mentoring the young cats in a clan was an honor for most warriors, Dawnstar's never heard of any cats losing their apprentice unless the warrior went lame, disappeared, or all that nonsense. She hoped Brackentail stewed in this humiliation.
"Since I'm doing reassignments, Sharppaw, I haven't seen Hawkshade in a while, I don't need you stuck in the apprentice den forever, so your new mentor will be Elmshadow." The tom has yet to disappear, and although he was a bit of a disappointment, he still remained a valuable warrior in Dawnstar's eyes. The leader did not need another Maplepaw on her paws. These two should be able to stick together and complete Sharppaw's training.
"Now before I get into the other ceremonies, I don't know what kind of dung you all have in your heads, but I will be helping ThunderClan by stepping in as leader of ThunderClan. How else do you expect me to aid them, clearly no one in their clan can step up and get anything done." Dawnstar felt a little insulted that she had to explain how this was going to work to her warriors. How dare they think she's going soft! Briarkit's question had the leader glowering and answering with a throaty snarl. "I'm not asking them, we're taking over. I don't see the point in raising our claws to attack first, as ThunderClan has proven time and time again they're nothing but cowards. We'd have no one to fight if we attack first. But it doesn't mean you all won't get your pound of flesh." Dawnstar paused to raise a hind leg to itch at her shoulder. "You can chase out whoever resists, I already told the ThunderClan warrior that I won't be stopping you if anyone in ThunderClan puts up a fight. I'd prefer you not kill anyone, there are only so many rodents to go around, but pain you can inflict as much as you want. They will submit to ShadowClan one way or another."
"I know some of you don't understand this, but there should always be four clans in the forest. The only reason ShadowClan can call itself the most dangerous is because we have the others clans. It wouldn't be hard at all to completely destroy ThunderClan and WindClan, but the reason they still stand is because we allow it. There is a balance between predators and prey that needs to be kept. If we wiped out the other clans or forced them to merge with ShadowClan so only we stand, who do we fight, what borders do we patrol, what gatherings do we go to? Think! There's an order to clans that must be kept. If we leave ThunderClan alone, they'll die out eventually, they need to be retaught how to be a clan."
"You all clearly enjoy the challenge and fights the other clans put up, if you didn't you wouldn't be making such faces and idiotic remakes about aiding them. If we can help ThunderClan, whether they believe they are in our debt or not, we could potentially gain a strong ally or a new enemy to test our claws against." It was such a pain to explain her logic to her clan, but if she didn't, they'd continue looking at her like petulant kits, doing as they're told even though they don't want to. She didn't them huffy and moody. Even if they didn't say anything to her face, her clan didn't hide how off-put they felt about all of this.
"I'm only bringing four patrols with me, that should be more than enough to deal with any fight ThunderClan puts up. Figure out which of you want to come along, once ThunderClan is secured, I might have someone come and collect a few more of you to help beat ThunderClan into shape." Dawnstar needed to leave enough cats here that her territory and clan were still well-defended, and queens and kits were being fed and guarded. This was going to be strange, but she'd figure it out. Couldn't be any worse than when she took over WindClan.
"Martenkit," the leader's amber eyes drifted down to the hairball wanting his ceremony done quickly. "From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Martenpaw. Your mentor will be Paleivy." The molly wasn't in Dawnstar's favor but she couldn't say she dislike the she-cat completely either. The molly could potentially work her way out into the spots among her cats like Owlfeather, Elmshadow, Addersnow, Redshrike, and so on. But only time would tell.
"Maggotpaw, you've been an apprentice for moons now, and you'll be stuck being one if don't hear anything different from my daughter," Dawnstar growled softly and thrust her head in the direction of her only she-kit. "Brackenfire, you've been kitsitting for a bit. Is she ready to return to a warrior or not?"

Re: The Shadowledge
Pain shot threw Brackentail’s heart, as he stared horrified at his leader. Shinepaw, not my apprentice??? NO! he immediately yowled. “No! I’ll do ANYTHING to keep my apprentice.” He glanced helplessly at the stars. He didn’t care what the Clan thought of him. He was loyal to ShadowClan. He was not loyal to Dawnstar.

Re: The Shadowledge
~Shinepaw~
The she looked up at Dawnstar, fuming with anger, her pelt itched with annoyance. "I-" she began, but quickly shut her mouth, she didn't want Brackentail to get in trouble. She flicked her tail, furious, her eyes at the ground while she mumbled to herself, "Dawnstar is so uptight, live a little, mouse-brain." She meowed her words quietly, so no one could hear, hopefully.
Shinepaw had no interest in ever leaving Shadowclan, and Dawnstar even mentioning it made her full of rage. Her ears pinned back on her head she reluctantly meowed, "Sorry, Dawnstar."

Re: The Shadowledge
(Question: if Dawn’star is stepping in as thunderclans leader do missing cats go throwing her or Dogbark to rejoin?)
Red’paw
Red’paw shot up, he wanted to go! Sure he hadn’t learnt any battle moves just yet but he’d been practicing on his own. He was sure he could help keep thunderclan apprentices in line for a while. He’d find some way to be useful at least but he definitely wanted to go! “I’ll go!” he mewed, holding he would be allowed.
Speckle’pelt
Speckle’pelt, while happy with this choice Dawn’star made, wasn’t sure if she wanted to go to thunderclan or not.
Sure she was happy they were helping them but Dawn’star mentioned attacking warriors that didn’t want help. It would be different if it were a battle, teeth and claws are expected to be used there but if thunderclan doesn’t want their help it shouldn’t be forced on them.
Maybe she’d wait until some news on thunderclans reaction before asking to go

@ Undertaker
Wow. Ravenblaze was not expecting that at all. Taking over Thunderclan sounded like a fun challenge, but whether it would actually be challenging or not remained to be seen. "I'll go on a patrol!" they exclaimed. Teaching the tree climbers how to be a real clan sounded like a good time to them.

Re: The Shadowledge
@ Shade.
**Elmshadow**
Finishing off another apprentice's training. He thought back to Needlepaw sourly. She'd had such potential until she threw it away by leaving without a word. He looked critically at Sharppaw, another lithe young she-cat. He recognized the apprentice though he couldn't say he knew much about her unfortunately. He was sure that'd quickly change, as long as she stuck around long enough through his training, and he'd make her into a warrior soon enough.
Back to dealing with Thunderclan. Dawnstar as leader of Thunderclan; it was unheard of. No doubt this would put more responsibility on Shadestorm to step up and assist Dawnstar as she both maintained the reputation she'd built for Shadowclan and built Thunderclan into a clan worth the name; Elmshadow was interested to see how the deputy would handle it all. Meanwhile, Elmshadow thought of the kits he had in the nursery and his new apprentice. The camp would need strong cats to keep order, especially with the new apparent increases of brazenly dissenting cats such as Brackentail and his former apprentice. "I can stay behind. Shadowclan is strong but our security should not be taken for granted. We will need strong and able warriors to keep clan life smooth and secure." The offer was for Dawnstar to approve but the thought was for other warriors, so many so eager to get their pound of flesh across the border, to consider.
**Cougarivy**
Cougarivy bounced to her paws, her hackles rising in her excitement as she worked the earth beneath her claws. A takeover in Thunderclan?! Oh, how exciting. Success was the goal, surely, but Cougarivy couldn't help the hope that the rare few strong Thunderclan warriors may put up a fight. She wiggled, "Oh, this would be the most fun I've ever had! I just have to go!"
**Sunsetpaw**
Sunsetpaw thought over the logistics. Dawnstar would be leader of both Shadowclan and Thunderclan. It made sense though it felt...off. she wasn't against it but everything Dawnstar explained sat right by Sunsetpaw. Shadowclan and Dawnstar had to do something, this seemed as good a something as she'd be able to come up with. She was ready to volunteer to show her support but her father's words also made sense to her. Her family was here in Shadowclan, if she left to assist Thunderclan and something happened to her family while she was gone...that was unimaginable. She decided instead to remain quiet and allow Dawnstar or Stormwing or the warriors to determine where she was best suited. The thought of Stormwing stopped her for a moment. She hadn't seen her mentor lately. Curious, but she decided that was a concern for another time, maybe she'd look for him after the meeting for some more training.

Re: The Shadowledge
Paleivy's ears flicked in Brackentail's direction, not even trying to hide the irritation that was evident on her face. He had just proved how immature he was and it was clear he wouldn't get another apprentice till he was at least 40 moons. "Oh shut it already." she meowed softly not caring if the tom heard or not. No need to waste her breath on the waste of space tho. Turning her attention back to her leader she wanted to come along with the patrol with a burning passion. To show Thunderclan what it meant to be a real clan, to watch them as their superior was more than enough to force her to go. And keeping balance and whatnot, who would she tear her claws into if the other clans didn't exist.
