The dirty work was done. Smokefern's dark paws were stained darker by the rogue's blood. She warily watched Quincy's body convulse before meeting Mosstangle's gaze. Considering how little she did in the fight, the older warrior was unharmed. Her own pale eyes scan Mosstangle, making sure the blood on her fur was mostly not hers. She allows Mosstangle a moment to speak with her brother, as she wiped her paw on the grass. "Take a moment to breathe, Alder. You'll be fine."
Alder took a shaky breath, ears pinning. "Do you think Dawnstar will actually take me back..?" He asked, pressing his shrunken frame against his sister with head down. "Thank you Mosstangle.. and Smokefern.."

Mosstangle buried her face into her brother's fur. The scratches she had were minor, and she could handle cleaning them up without worrying Sleepysunrise or Silentpaw about them. That was a later problem. She was just happy to have her brother with her for the moment. Her ear twitched at his question. "Of course. You're Shadowclan blood. I don't know what... you'll have to tell me what happened when you are feeling better, but she certainly wouldn't turn you away."
Hopefully that was true. She didn't imagine Dawnstar would outright deny him access, right? The tabby gave Alder a few comforting licks, helping lay his fur flat once more to calm him down. "Then, we can take care of your kits. Raise them with all the love in the world, eh?" She wished she could have found him under better conditions. Wished he had never been taken by that stranger in the first place. It didn't matter, though. He would be back in Shadowclan soon enough.
Mosstangle glanced back at Smokefern. "Speaking of... We'll have to report this..." She said. That would probably be... complicated to explain... Then again, her brother had begged for help. It seemed pretty obvious to her that the stranger had been holding him, essentially, hostage. She would stand by her decisions. She still felt that it was the right choice, biased as it may have been towards her brother.

Smokefern dipped her head in acknowledgement of Alder's thanks. There wasn't much that she had done here, but she wasn't going to ruin the sibling's reunion with her humility. It may have been her idea to leave camp, but it was a twist of fate that culminated to what happened. Her mind wandered back towards the clan. It would be better to speak to Mistlewhisker about this, but if their leader didn't want someone in Shadowclan, then they'd be gone. She wouldn't put it past Dawnstar to refuse admittance to an expecting cat.
Yet, this wasn't a hopeless situation. With how things happened, she could see Alder returning to the clan. She looked to Mosstangle, nodding in agreement. "I doubt she'll care that an outsider was killed." If anything, she'd be glad. "One of us should head back to camp to explain. Can't just bring Alder back with us."
"I.. I don't know what happened..one moment I'm patrolling, next I'm trapped somewhere I don't know.. and I can't get back to you or home." He began to burst into tears, sobbing against his sister, his body wracked as he sobbed. As the moment began to calm, the extent of the expecting tom's scars and injuries. The only plump thing about him was him being expecting.

Mosstangle nuzzled her brother's head gently as he started talking about what had happened. It broke her heart to hear. "It's okay... you're here now..." She mewed softly to her brother. She hated to see him cry. It was such a stark difference from the sibling she had known and it really did tear her apart. She almost regretted killing the outsider so swiftly, wishing only the worst punishment possible in the dark forest.
Mosstangle looked over to Smokefern. "Would you mind? I can stay here with him." She asked her friend. As shaky as their start had been, she almost felt overwhelmed by how much she appreciated her presence. Todays events had led to quite the experience, for sure. She had Aldersnarl back. For now, everything would be fine.
