"Cool beans, my dude." Hillstrider meowed as Tuftedtusk headed off back towards camp. Looks like the patrol did well! Awesome.

When they returned, Hillstrider put his vole, frog and thrush onto the pile. Once Mistlewhisker had given them the all clear, Hillstrider slipped back to the fresh-kill pile and grabbed the thrush, off to wait for a certain someone to return.

Not every day had to be good they just had to be better.

If only repeating it to himself could make him feel that way in the worst of it. Grief was an ever-moving progress and he was actually getting better then he'd been on that earth shattering day and the horrible days after it when life hadnt seemed worth the fight. He was better now, if not good every day and was able to resume his training from the brief break without issue. Though some days, like today, it was done without smile and little enthusiasm.



Ironically it made him seem more shadowclan then his normal sunshine disposition did.


Sleepysunrise however? No matter his mood her attention did earn a grin, if a smaller one then usual.
"Hey sis. Having some patrol issues? Gotta let Mistlewhisker know so she can get them, but I dont mind tagging along at all. Them being inconsistent doesnt mean the work shouldnt get done and you should get in trouble for it.


Lets get going, daylights wasting."


Patrol experience and Sleepysunrise's idle lessons were an added bonus too.

Owlthroat’s fur ruffled with the cold breeze as he trailed back into camp, the apprentices in tow. It had been quick and simple no signs of the fishlegs on this run out.

”Mistlewhisker, all good at the border.” The tom nodded reporting in.

The multi colored apprentice followed behind the enforcer and fellow apprentice, the patrol was good and looked like owlthroat was reporting it fishpaw dint have anything to say so she kept quiet.

The Enforcer led her way back first, with hopefully Sootstorm and Wispypaw trailing behind. At least they'd actually showed their faces. While the she-cat wasn't nearly as peeved as the last patrol she'd been on, this one still angered her. But that wasn't hard to do, really.

Taking a moment to place her scrawny squirrel and mouse on the prey pile, Briarsplash padded up to the deputy, dipping her head quickly in a respectful greeting before she rasped out her report as bluntly as usual.

"We all caught at least somethin', which is good. Prey's getting harder to find, which is bad. And... Marigoldpaw showed up for the patrol, but never showed 'er face in the forest." Briar's tail lashed, a clear sign of her displeasure, eyes narrowed. "Dunno if she ever even followed us."

Sootstorm followed Briarsplash into the patrol place, blackbird clamped between her jaws against the wind. She set her catch on the fresh-kill pile and stood behind the Enforcer, emerald hues narrowed down to slits.

Her movements were swift as she moved back into camp, eyes trailing from Bleedingkit to the dark pelt of the deputy. She dipped her head, presenting the caught vole within the same movement.
"Neither Hawkwasp or Palepaw appeared."
Her ear flicked towards her brother.
"I took Bleedingpaw with. He did fine."
A grand compliment from the youngest enforcer; but deserved, for the other pair had not shown, Sleepysunrise found solace in knowing her brother knew better.

Bleedingpaw was panting a bit when he arrived back at camp, the long trek from the border tiring him a tad given he had to put more effort in to keep pace and keep upright. He managed though and he wouldntve accepted his sister slowing down for him anyways. Depositing his prey in front of the deputy proudly the toms head jittered in place as it tended to, grinning more easily now.
"Nothing at the border Miss Mistlewhisker! Though it is freshly marked and we caught some prey!"


It was just a mouse but he was still happy to provide. Leaning on his sister to maintain some stability (and cuddle up a bit) he waited for dismissal as was polite, a bit sleepy.
