Default The Flock's Rebel [P]

A starry landscape, but this time it’s not the Starclan hunting grounds.
It’s too dark to even see the silhouettes of the landscape hills from afar, only making the stars remain as the only visible details, the only remaining light source.

This might be just a dream, or is it?

If so, then it must be a message from Starclan. For Lichenkit.

Lichenkit
|| They/her || 1 Moon ||

Lichenkit blinked, confused by what they were seeing. Were they not just napping with her family? Oh, this had to be a dream. Though this one felt different from the other ones. This felt more real, somehow. Bright green eyes looked up at the stars, unsure of if they were the same ones they could see back home.

"Hello?" she tried to say. Was there more to this than darkness and stars? Could she even move? Sometimes she couldn't in dreams, but then would wake up with one of her siblings laying on top of them. They tried to walk, looking for anything or any cat.

The call was too clear to take notice, but still, none showed up. Not even a single whisper from the starclan cats. But before darkness takes over the majority of the dream timeline, something unexpected happened...

The dream continues as a huge mountain rises from the void. The silvery cliffs are powdered in white snow, and the surface is stable and rugged. Taking a closer look on the mountains, numerous bushes of small, ripe white berries grows onto the surface, along with the moss-like plants that spreads across the mountain - the so-called lichen. The lush mountain towers above Lichenkit, but that’s not all…

A flock of three birds gather on the mountain. One is tall and slender, with two black stripes each on the bird’s face, along with very long legs, and a black, long beak. The other is quite smaller, but brown and fluffy and juvenile, with a somewhat flatter face, and a small beak. The third, the final avian creature, is slightly bigger than the smaller, brown one. The very few feathers of their neck shimmers in holographic hues, and the silvery grey feathers of their body gleams in the starlight.

However, the third avian creature started to rip off the lichens, demolishes the stones of the cliff, and consumes the white berries. Their eyes were blinded with wrath, their spine-chilling calls pierced in the skies. The mountain progressively loses their vegetation, but before the gray bird could continue, the other two battled against them. The fight is cruel, and the surface quakes the more they fought. The stars begin to dim - the only light source - as the dream progessively gets even more darker and darker.

Lastly, it all faded back to nothing but pitch-black void. Starclan has spoken, and the dream has come to an end.

Lichenkit
|| They/her || 1 Moon ||

Lichenkit jumped back, the fur on their back standing up, as the mountain appeared. Where had that even come from? Though on edge, the kit had to admit the scene was beautiful. The scene was peaceful, and almost as good of a place to live as by water. There was something familiar to the birds, though she had never seen them before.

Almost as soon as the spike of fear ebbed away, it was replaced by shock. Her fur prickled, and they were unsure of if it was a phantom pain from the lichen being torn or their anxiety. What was going on? Why was the bird destroying everything? What could make the shimmering gray bird hate what had to be its home so much? Their mind raced with more questions as panic rose. Why did everything have to lead to fighting?

"Stop, please!" Lichenkit called out, their voice tiny and ignored by the creatures. They tried to run closer, to do something - anything - to stop the battle, but tumbled over her own paws once again. Lichenkit silently cursed her clumsy nature, following them even in their dreams. There had to be some way to get the battle to stop. But her voice was too small, not fast enough to intervene. Eyes widened at the horror of the battle, stark in their mind even as light faded.

"You don't need to fight." They managed to choke out, tears welling up. The only good thing about the tears was that it made it hard to see the battle they were unable to look away from. All of this was wrong. It was only then that they realized they were shaking.

And then, the stars finally winked out. It was over. Lichenkit jerked awake, nearly kicking one of their siblings in the process. Green eyes blinked several times, trying to adjust to the gloom of the den. It wasn't another dream. She was in the nursery, in her family's nest. She panted, heart still pounding against her chest. It had to of been a dream. Only a dream.
