Babies bite eachother (Jagged & Frost training)
@ Dolomedes @ burntToast (I was really slow starting this, but I got there eventually!!)
Jaggedpaw! Frostpaw! Deadmoon called, thrusting her head rudely into the apprentices den. She quite honestly was in a bit of a mood, which wasn't really either of their faults. But also. It wasn't really her fault. (It totally was, she had been the one to stay up late pondering her miserably inadequate life rather than trying to sleep.) Regardless of who had caused her current mood, Deadmoon was in the mood to do a bit of smacking. Which was unusual, seeing as she was not particularly good at fighting. But hey, she wasn't going to question it, and she was instead going to take advantage of her rare interest in smacking and actually get some training done.
We're going to do a bit of battle training. I'd rather you two bite each other than me, quite honestly. Deadmoon elaborated, before padding out of camp with a swish of her tail. She would like to say she was able to sweep out dramatically, but given her leg the best she could manage was a rather elegant limp. A stomp could also be managed, though she had just about enough self control to avoid that. Once out of camp she got into a pretty swift trot, and assumed the two toms would keep up. They were young and all, but they had some nice working legs that she definitely wasn't jealous of at all. She wasn't, really. If she was, she'd have issues with quite literally every cat in the clan. But, like. It was a thought that occasionally crossed her mind. Occasionally.
Reaching a relatively flat, if crispy with frost, area of the meadow, Deadmoon pulled up to a stop. Turning to face the kiddos, who she did love when she wasn't in a state, the molly stretched quickly. The first thing we're going to work on is basic smacking. I'm sure you've done some squabbling and whatnot in the nursery every kit with siblings did but when you're in an actual battle you're going to want to focus more on staying out of range than doing as much damage as you can, at least at first. Once they were older, and had probably obtained their father's size, they could go for a more brute force approach. But until then, she'd rather they not get shredded, their egos aside. Jaggedpaw's ego aside, she didn't know if Frostpaw had similarly glorious plans.
To this end, and because we're Windclan and our whole gimmick is being fast though not in her case, really I'd like you to practice smacking me and then making your escape. Claws sheathed, please. Taking a few pawsteps backwards and dropping into a bit of a crouch, Deadmoon mewed Jaggedpaw first, then Frostpaw. Stars above, please let this go ok. She was fairly certain Jaggedpaw would quickly get bored of an annoyed by her....less than perfect fighting skills, but she should at least be able to get through a lesson or two. Right?

Re: Babies bite eachother (Jagged & Frost training)
Frostpaw
@gs29513 | @burntToast Frostpaw stretched in his nest, not paying any mind as his paws batted against his twin ( and maybe he hit him a little harder just to be a bother ). Who dares to awake the frost menace from his slumber? Oh it was Deadmoon... that was Jags' mentor, right? Yeah. The one that his brother got a whole moon before he got paired with Hawkfur alongside.. cards. Cards were still cards not Gnawing. The young apprentice clicked his teeth together in discontent before getting up onto his paws and shaking out his fur.
Battle training? Well okay, maybe that made up for being woken up earlier than he would've originally liked. Especially when it was battle training with someone that Frostpaw could play rough with. Unlike seeds, his sisters would probably kill Frostpaw if he was even a little bit 'too rough' on seeds. He thinks that the three of them are just boring no fun. The apprentice made a unhappy face at the thought, shaking his head a bit with his tongue sticking out before his thoughts caught up and he realized no body could actually read his thoughts and had no idea why he was throwing a bit of a fit.
Frostpaw padded his way over to the fury and offered a grin to them, showing off sharp kitten teeth that the apprentice has yet to start losing. Oh.. he didn't have a motion for Deadmoon yet.. hmm. He chittered under his breath. He would have to make one for her during this trip. She was someone important to snowydad and therefore important enough to be given a Frostpaw silent name. Like his siblings and dad. Oh oh, wait don't leave Frostpaw behind!
The apprentice huffed and gave a low, brief growl to show his discontent with Deadmoon's sudden take off before bounding after the older cat out into the territory. Oh brrrr, chilly. The apprentice's fur bristled against the cold of the territory, no longer sheltered by the camp that he has spent the better part of his entire life in. Though with wrestling that was soon to come, he was sure to warm up in no time and also! He was so excited! They stopped in a field with a light dust of frost across the frozen grass.
Frostpaw tilted his head, that sounded like... really boring. The best part of fighting was throwing other people around and tackling them to the ground and then overwhelming them with bites and scratches until they finally give in! That was what a real fight was, and he knew it. Whatever boring stuff Deadmoon was teaching was just that, the fight without the real fight. Hmph, he'll just have to show her what a real fight looks like. Frostpaw nearly pounced on his brother when the fury continued by saying they would practice on her first. Ugh... but he supposed he could wait a little bit.
Jaggedpaw was going first? Frostpaw stomped his paws into the ground, he wanted to go first! How come Jaggedpaw was allowed to go first! This was so unfair! UNfair unfair! Never mind the waiting bit, Frostpaw didn't want to wait! He crouched down, and leapt forward aiming to tackle his brother, he wanted to fight the way it was fun! And better! Not just hit and run away!

His name being called was enough to wake him, but apparently his clone didn't think the same and instead decided to hit him a bunch. Jaggedpaw's head shot up and he snapped his jaws at his brother in an attempt to bite his paws but Frostpaw had already already retreated. " I'll shred you.." grumbled, the threat not sounding truly like a threat when he yawned midway through saying it. Either way, when he was on his paws he retaliated by ramming his head a bit too violently into Frostie's side. Take that clone menace.
Jaggedpaw's ears then swiveled in Deadmoon's direction and he took in his mentor's last words before she exited the den. Did the old lady just say battle training??? She definitely just shot up a few spots on his favourite clanmates list. Of course she was still pretty much at the bottom but she was getting there slowly and that was an achievement he supposed. Actually scratch that, she shot up all the way to the "this cats okay" spots. Mainly because she was bringing his twin!! Yeah yeah, he got annoyed with frostie a lot but his clone was his favourite sibling. One of the few he could play rough with! He was sure straws wouldn't mind getting pummeled but Cards- Gnawing would kill him and seeds would cry. If he hurt seeds she would cry yes but his sister would also probably slaughter him. Which wasn't good for him in the long run.
Jaggedpaw got to his paws not really bothering to do what other apprentices would and neaten his fur, he did cat h Frostie's growl and by this point he was starting to "understand" his brothers unconventional communication style. "She just hobbles off like that all the time" he informed his uneducated twin. Uneducated on their "grandma" actually, he was probably smart in other things- okay enough stupid thoughts let's go BATTLE TRAINING!! WOOO!
-------------------------------
Pale green eyes scanned the distance across the mostly flat meadow area his mentor had taken them, it was covered in frost. Frost. Heh. Deadmoon started speaking and well Jaggedpaw would be lying if he claimed to have paid attention immediately. However he caught the bit about nursery squabbles and took it as a form of praise. She must mean he and frostie were ahead of the other new apprentices in the field of battle. Honestly he always knew that but it was nice hearing it from someone else. She then went on to say when in battle it was best to try and get blows in without being hit then as many blows as you can without regard to your own safety. Something along those lines and personally that sounded boring but he supposed it was logical so he wouldn't complain or argue.
After Deadmoon explained exactly what they would be doing, Jaggedpaw ready himself into a pouncing position. It would be easy to smack and runn especially when his mentor couldn't really do the latter. Claws sheathed, he just need to remember that. The old lady didn't say anything about biting though? Hmm was that allowed. When Deadmoon said he could go first he caught frostpaws mini tantrum in the corner of his eye. He turned to his twin and responded with a smug smile and stuck his tongue out at him, course his mentor would pick him to go first. He was just better after all. Anywayyyyy Jaggedpaw turned back to his mentor, bunching all energy into his hind legs before releasing it and darting forward-
However he felt his momentum suddenly stop as a force from his right crashed into him and tackled him mid sprint causing both him and his attacker to fall and tumble. He barely had time to register the flash of fur before he was knocked over, no time to block the attack. Frostpaw would be so lucky again. Jaggedpaws paws flailed trying to find purchase too stand as they tumbled. [B]"Is this a challenge? I accept"[B] Jaggedpaw responded with a smile-bared his teeth? It was a cross between and snarl and a grin. Really odd expression. Jaggedpaw immediately retaliated twisting around kicking at frostie. If his brother wanted to be pummeled then he would gladly fufil his wish. If his kicks landed he would follow up with few punches. He didn't see any room to bite so that sadly wasn't an option

Re: Babies bite eachother (Jagged & Frost training)
At least the children hadn't thrown a fit, though Deadmoon was fairly certain she could hear Jaggedpaw muttering to his brother about her stomping off. Or hobbling off, but for the sake of her sanity she chose to ignore that bit and just.....move on with her life. Surely she could have things go well for once, that couldn't be too hard. Just a nice, easy little battle training session with her dear friend's kits, and then back to her nest for a nap. Sounded like a pretty perfect day if you asked her.
Apparently the promise of hitting things was what it took to get Jaggedpaw to listen to her, because, to her pleasant surprise, he actually started rushing at her. She was choosing to ignore the pettiness the brothers were engaging in for her own sake, and because it was probably normal sibling stuff. Right? Deadmoon didn't know much about normal sibling stuff, but she was fairly certain she had seen Wolffang and Rosebriar having silly little squabbles when they were still young warriors and she'd been watching them from the corners of camp. It only made sense, being around a certain set of cats for long enough was bound to give plenty of opportunity to learn their little quirks and how to annoy them.
Of course, because this was Snowybreeze's kits, nothing could go right for long. Jaggedpaw's promising charge was cut off immediately by Frostpaw, who was apparently more impatient than even Wildpaw and decided lunging at his brother was the best course of action. Because of course. How foolish could a cat get, expecting apprentices to behave and listen and actually get things done for more than three seconds? She really should have seen this coming, but there wasn't much to be done about it but separate them, and try to demonstrate WHY that was such a monumentally stupid idea.
Look, I get your kit games all end like this. She muttered, stomping over to the pair and reaching a paw for each of their foreheads. Perhaps Deadmoon could leverage them apart that way, or at least get their attention for the three seconds it apparently lasted. But if you try that in a real battle you will just get your throat ripped out. Alright? Because chances are you'll be fighting a cat bigger and stronger than you, at least until you grow, and they won't give you the chance to reach them. They just wouldn't. Any fool who pulled a stunt like that against any fully grown, large warrior would be toast. Immediately.
A soft huff, and she put a bit more force into her front paws. A little kick with each of her hind paws as well, really, truly, trying to pry them apart or get them to let go by virtue of being annoyed at the constant prodding. If they did disengage and get to their paws, and Deadmoon was really hoping they weren't so headstrong as to keep clinging on to each other, she planned to take a step back. Pause for a moment. Then push herself onto her hind paws, pivot, and bring her front paws down on Frostpaw's shoulders. She didn't want to hurt him of course, but if they weren't going to listen then she was going to throw them around a bit. She still could, at least for the moment, and if she didn't convince them she knew what she was doing now she probably never would. So Deadmoon was going on the offensive, if only for the moment. Stars please don't let this backfire. @ Dolomedes @ burntToast

Frostpaw
@burntToast | @gs29513
Frostpaw tanked the hits from his brother, building a bit of a familiarity with them over the moons they have spent wrestling and fighting day in and out. And sure, he understood that Deadmoon would likely be upset with his change of plans but Frostpaw really did not care at all. What was she gonna do? Scold them? Haha, yeah, like the apprentice was afraid of scolding. He's been scolded plenty and has that- His inner boasting came to an abrupt end as his grandmother of choice suddenly reared up and smooshed him down like a bug in one's nest. A pitiful squeak escaped him as the wind was pushed- not knocked- out of him.
He was just a little guy, this was so not fair! Pick on someone your own size! If Frostpaw had a proper voice maybe he would be able to actually say that to her. The apprentice started to thrash, snapping his teeth and straightening his ears in a sign that meant Jaggedpaw. This wasn't fair! If Deadmoon wanted a real fight she was going to have to deal with them both! The snowyberry litter was a pack, not an individual. If his brother had enough mercy that was. Frostpaw did just start a fight, and also nipped him earlier, but they always did that to each other.
