Hollypaw hesitantly padded out of the apprentice den and towards the elders' den. Not only had he been told that he had grandparents, they were still alive and had been here the whole time. What was he even supposed to think? He'd never met them and his mother had never even thought of mentioning them?

He lingered in front of the den entrance before taking a deep breath. The large apprentice pushed through the den entrance, revealing two she-cats. He'd seen them around camp but never really met them.

Holly shifted awkwardly "uh- hey..." He managed to mumble out, flashing a sheepish smile.

Daffodildawn lay pressed up against Mintpelt, it was much colder today than it had been. A shiver ran down the she-cat's spine as she wiggled closer. "Stars- I don't know if I can survive another leaf-bare" the short-haired she-cat said, wrinkling her nose. She HATED leaf-bare, probably more than she hated anything else in the entire world.

She heard pawsteps approaching, there must be another apprentice coming to clean out their bedding. Couldn't they let them rest a little longer? Daf was finally warm and comfortable.

Wait- Those paws- They looked like Daywhispers, but shorthaired. The elder narrowed her eyes as they stopped outside the den. What was going on? Finally, the red and white tom entered the den and Daf realized who it was.

"Holls-" She stopped herself, wide-eyed as she looked at him. She probably shouldn't act so familiar with a cat she's technically never talked to. Even though she knew everything about him, she'd watched him grow up and even babysat once or twice when he was barely a moon old. A fond sigh escaped her maw "Hollypaw- right?" She asked, pushing herself to her paws before padding over to get a closer look.

She turned back to Mintpelt "This is our grandson, Hollypaw, remember when we used to babysit him and his sister when they were first born?" She said with a purr

"oh yes" mintpelt replied "they were certainly something" she added with a chuckle "oh no it's okay you were perfecly fine" she said smiling at Hollypaw she added onto that "it's wonderful for you to visit us!"

Hollypaw padded closer, looking between them. A small smile crossed his maw as he sat near his grandmother, wrapping his tail neatly around his paws "I uh- Would have... visited earlier... but... ma never really... told us about you" He murmured with a frown looking between them.

Daf let a giggle escape her maw "As much as I love her- Day's always been a bit airheaded" she said with a soft sigh, looking back towards Mintpelt "Don't worry about it dear- you're here now" She said with a purr and a nod, shifting closer to Mintpelt as a cool breeze blew through a gap in the elders' den wall and through her fur, causing a shiver to run down the she's spine.
