Fight Little Wolf
Coldpaw
[ 6 moon | She / Her | Wc Tunneller Apprentice | Heightened Perception: Touch ]
Stupid, stupid. She mumbled under her breath and she navigated her way through the clearing, bumping into him or her here and there as she went. Her mood seemed foul, but who wouldn't be in her case? Kicking her paw forth, she was surprised by the feeling of her paw colliding with a pebble, which flew forth and up against the trunk of a tree. Coldpaw paused her mumbling, head lifting at once and ears perking. She sniffed the air, noting the clear familiar scent. She was near mumma's den.
She paused for a moment, considering her options before fluffy paws reached forth, tapping the ground to guide herself as she went. She had gone up before, how hard could it be? Not easy, in any case, but Coldpaw managed to wiggle her way up and into the leader's den with a little huff and not much other fanfare. She hadn't exactly announced her presence, merely climbed up. And as she lifted herself from the ground - evidently present for any people inside the den - Coldpaw spoke.
"Mother?"
She called into the empty air, letting the echo of her voice carry across the den until she hopefully received a response. Coldpaw didn't wait for long.
"Mumma, can you give me battle training, please? I wanted to go with Crowtooth's group, but he said he can't teach me."
She looked wholly unimpressed with the deputy, her lip pouting a little. She didn't say how she believed that must be some excuse to rid of extra charge or difficulty, she was certain mumma wouldn't appreciate her berating her deputy.

Re: Fight Little Wolf
Twilightstar had these odd bursts of anger swell up inside her as of late. It probably had something to do with stress, which she normally managed without trouble. Yet, battling threats like predators or other clans was the norm with her; twolegs were new and tricky. With her cats continuously vanishing, trapped, and stolen away, and the whole starclan problem, it left her feeling more helpless than usual, which turned into frustration.
She was trying to destress by dragging her claws across the wooden walls in the back of her den. There was an earthy, woody aroma that filled her den as her claws tore into the soft tree, leaving a rugged indent in the back wall. Her tattered ear turned as she heard the paws scrabbling against the side of her tree, alerting her to the incoming presence.
Twilightstar drops down and shakes out the shards of wood from her pelt as Coldpaw breaches the entrance. "I'm here, dear." She replies to the call, coming to the front of the den after shaking out her pelt. She sounded upset, but about what? Twilightstar didn't have to wait long to figure it out. Coldpaw quickly explained what brought her here.
"Oh, Crowtooth excluded you. That doesn't sound like him. Did he tell you why he couldn't train you?" She asked, leaning into giving her daughter's face a lick to wipe away that pout. "I've a little time, I can teach you some basics if you'd like." The distraction would do Twilightstar some good, plus she got to spend some time with her kit, so that was always a win.

Mumma was here! The pout was quick to disappear from her face when she felt a tongue rasp over it, her still kitten-like paws lifting to playfully bat at her mother's face. Gently, without intended harm, but a little playful manner she allowed herself to boost her mood. A purr came from within her chest, and she got up to try and rub her cheek past her mother's side; straight ahead, she assumed, face falling again to answer her question.
"Because I'm blind."
She stepped too far and paused, cheeks puffing up. She decided to elaborate.
"He doesn't know how to teach me. He said all his examples are visual, and that isn't exactly... My thing."
She couldn't help the clear note of sarcasm that slipped into her tone as she sat herself and leaned back back on her paws, ear angling in various directions to catch her mother's response.
She didn't want to bother too much with the dumb deputy, at least her mumma was willing to teach her. Goes to show how much cooler she really is.
"But it's fine." (it wasn't) "I would much rather learn from my mother, anyway."
It did qualify as quality time her mother didn't often have the chance to give, and unlike her sister Rainpaw, Coldpaw did quite like Twilightstar. There was something so familiar in her, a familiarity she couldn't quite place. As if they'd met before, or reminder her of someone she knew once upon a time. Coldpaw didn't often dwell on it for long however.
Especially when the next thought was how it was her mission with Drifting to get close to Crowtooth because he spent a lot of time with their mother. Well so much for that! The deputy didn't like her, Coldpaw decided, and therefore she wouldn't like him either.
"I would like it very much if you taught me."
She recited the well-mannered words she must have picked up from Leopardsong trying to teach Rainpaw manners.

Re: Fight Little Wolf
The she-cat turned her head to avoid the tiny paws battering at her face and would press her cheek against the she-cat back as pressed against her. Her answer got a thought hum. That sounded a bit mean for Crowtooth. She doubt that is what he told her and more of an assumption on Coldpaw's part. The explanation settled the hackles that had began to rise.
"Well, my daughter, he's not exactly wrong." Twilightstar chirped noting the hint of sarcasm in her tone. "There is a reason I give most blind cats to your older sister to train. It can be quite difficult for those with a sense to train a cat without it. I wouldn't take it too personally." The she-cat dipped her head to give her daughter's ear a reassuring lick.
It seemed like Crowtooth had made an enemy out of this one. That was his problem, Twilightstar wasn't going to be advocating for the tom. Rainpaw barely tolerated or acknowledged Twilightstar's existence, the same with Dreamlight, she'd prefer not to have any more disapporving daughters on her tail. Granted, this was a two way street, it wasn't like Twilightstar had put much time into fixing her relationships with them.
"What wonderful manners," She praised, knowing she had Leopardsong to thank for that. "If you want more advance lessons, I'd ask Dreamlight or maybe Leopardflight. But I'll teach you what I can." She promised, nudge Coldpaw lightly in a silent order to head out of the den. They could practice in the clearing.
Once they were out of the den, and Twilightstar was assured that Coldpaw hadn't harmed herself while getting out, the lesson began. "So first thing you need to learn about battling where cats are most vulnerable. We've the ears which are extreamely sensitive and thus greatly painful when attacked. Your eyes which areextremely delicate. Claws can easily destroy vision. The face which, in addition to being extremely close to both eyes, nose, are ears, is immensely painful when clawed. Your neck which depending on its clawed or bitten can result in death. Your spine or back is very vulnerable a to the parts closest to the head can cause complete paralysis or death, while lower bites can result in a cat without use of the rear legs. I've yet to learn of a medicine cat being able to heal a cat from an injury like that." Luckily, they weren't common injuries.
"Your tail, which aside from being horrible painful, a severe injury to the tail can result in the loss of it which can and will mess with your balance. And of course, belly it soft and extremely deep cuts can result in severe bleeding, damage to your insides, or potienally death." Twilightstar flickered her and looked at her eyeless daughter. "Just as those are weaknesses to your enemies they are also to you. You being blind is going to seem like a big weakness in itself and cats likely going to be aiming for your face often and underestimate you." She warns, being half blind had cats often attacking her blindside.

"I think he should man up and try to teach me anyways. Vinesmoke has been doing just fine, and he's got two working eyes. Besides, Dreamlight is barely around..."
Oops, she let those good manners slip up for a moment. Her pout turned surprised and she pressed a paw to her maw in momentary shock. That wouldn't do in front of her mother.
"...If I may be so bold as to state my opinion."
Coldpaw added after a few seconds, her voice level once again and she tried to gloss over her very obvious displeasure (maybe she should ask Peachpaw to bite Crowtooth sometime...), no no! Maybe Peachpaw would do it without her asking him if she mentioned this grave exclusion.
Luckily for Twilightstar, Coldpaw was rather fond of her mother. Rainpaw's aversion to the leader hadn't rubbed off on the young apprentice (unlike some other things), and she was always happy to spend time with her. Especially when she agreed to teach her (much like Crowtooth should have agreed to teach her too). Without saying another word, she obediently slipped out of the den and towards the clearing as ordered. She was a bit disappointed to find that mumma wasn't taking her out into the territory, but she wasn't going to look a gift mouse in the mouth. At least she was being taught.
"I guess I don't quite have to worry about my eyes, though." A bit of a joke. "Vinesmoke said I can feel when cats approach me, because their paws are heavy on the ground. But I'm not sure... Sometimes I do feel them get closer, but it gets all muddled and weird when there is more than one cat. And my whiskers aren't long enough to feel them either. How will I avoid them going for my face? I like my face, and my ears. I don't want to loose them. Same for my tail. And my legs. How will I not get utterly beat up in battle? It sounds like eyes are vital to survival."
She had ran a paw over the ground and tilted her head.
