Sunsetgleam gets an apprentice......Sunsetgleam gets an apprentice?? Really..? Huh..it’s actually nice to know Stormstar trusts them enough to be someone’s mentor. A small smile made it's way onto their face. Maybe their life would slowly get better if they have an apprentice to focus on; That’d be better than focusing on a looming voice at the back of their head. Maybe they’ll find the 'gleam' again and be more of their namesake. Of course to some they’ve never lost it in the first place, but they were close to. Too close. They didn’t want to let Duskpaw, Stormstar, or anyone down. It must've been a coincidence the warrior would be assigned to a Duskpaw. Sunsetgleam knew what they should probably focus on first..tours. Should they choose to go to the borders first or the territory? Maybe the borders. It’s good to know your borders so you don’t accidentally break it. They could tour the territory afterwards and swimming if Duskpaw still has enough energy by that time. After swimming..huh..maybe after that could be hunting. Or..fighting? Or fishing? What would Duskpaw prefer and what would be best for them? They should at least try giving her a hunting lesson first. Then fishing or fighting? Fishing would match the hunting part of the lesson and well..they were in riverclan. It still irks the warrior that battling is such a prominent aspect among the clans. Peace was something they've always wanted, but it was something impossible to ever reach
Ah, first they needed to actually greet their apprentice. Now that they thought about it Duskpaw looks..like she's been better. Was there anything wrong..? They didn't know what was happening in the younger cat's mind but they did hope it won't become a problem. "We can start training after the meeting's over if you're ready" they didn't want to rush the apprentice, but they wouldn't want to slack off either. They'll see. They wanted to train and help their apprentice become a skillful and well-respected warrior in the future, even if that's easier said than done... "if something's bothering you, just let me know" Would they actually do what their words suggests and let anyone know if something's on their mind? No..never had. But that's something they keep to themselves

The otter fight had been successful, with no casualties; that was good. RiverClan needed a victory, a win without losses. Too many times they had suffered defeat, losing valuable warriors in the process.
As Stormstar called for three kits to step up to the Stormcrest, Irisfrost watched as one, two came forwards. Where was the third? Maybe they were still in the nursery. Strange; she didn't know how a kit would miss Stormstar calling their name, but who knew.
They became apprentices, and then it was time for reassignments. Irisfrost liked Stormstar's new policy; that if a warrior didn't train their apprentice they wouldn't be assigned another one. Hopefully it would stop (or at last reduce the number of) apprentices getting mentors that neglected them.
Hearing her name among the reassignments startled her, and it took her a moment to realise she had been given one. Breezepaw. Irisfrost's brows furrowed; she didn't think she would've been given another apprentice, not when there were plenty of warriors without one. Maybe Stormstar thought she had done a good job training Grimpaw. But that couldn't be it; she hadn't gone above the standards of a decent mentor. Maybe Stormstar's bar of an exceptional mentor was lower than she had thought.
But... wait, she hadn't seen Grimpaw around lately. Sure, the camp was big enough that they might just not have noticed each other as they did their daily tasks, but he could be missing. Thinking about it, it wasn't an unlikely scenario. Irisfrost frowned, deciding she would look for Grimpaw later, to see if he was still a part of RiverClan. She wasn't going to abandon his training and then find out later that he had been there, waiting for her to take him out all along.
But first she would speak to her new apprentice. "Breezepaw, over here," she called, knowing the apprentice likely wouldn't know who she was.
Reassignments and apprentice ceremonies, a standard for every meeting it seemed... Larkwing wondered how many of these apprentices would make it to their warrior ceremonies with the same mentor... how many would make it to their ceremonies at all. It was a morbid thought, a little bit, but not one unwarranted and without proper grounds for asking. She'd seen it happen again and again, and was thankful that she had never had to go through that with her own mentor until after her own warrior ceremony.
Scorchedhollow had been a great cat, something akin to a father where her own had failed... but then he'd vanished, presumed dead. Her attention drifts back to the meeting, to Stormstar stepping down the Skyridge and stepping over to Primrosepaw, ready to give the apprentice her name. Adderstrike must be proud.
Larkwing still remembered her first time holding a warrior ceremony, it wasn't something she'd forget in a hurry, especially seeing as how that very warrior was now the father of her unborn kits... what a turn of fate.
Starrypaw silently walked up to her new mentor... knowing that once again, another cat had left her. There were shiny, precious tears in the corners of her eyes. When she touched noses with Weepin'wind, she closed her eyes and one glimmering tear streamed down her cheek.
She was failing everyone.

Her new name was said, and the name of her mentor.
Duskpaw.
Cool and all, but it would've been better if Softkit was here with her.

Sunsetgleam said they could start training once the meeting was over. "Alright." Duskpaw replied.
The sooner, the better.
Maybe once she gets back, she'll spot Softkit.
She only half-listened when Sunsetgleam mentioned talking about what's on her mind.
Ew, feelings. Nuh uh.
"'Kay." She replied anyway, it'd probably be a bad impression if she immediately started ignoring her mentor.
Primrosepaw stepped forward, her pelt glossy. Her emerald eyes shone with dedication to RiverClan as she responded to Stormstar with a confident tone of voice. ´´I do.´´
Rainpaw noticed Berryshine's gaze and blinked warmly at her, waving her tail in greeting. She knew Berryshine was busy as a medicine cat, and she was proud of her. Though she did wish she got to spend some more time with her. Once I'm a warrior, I'll be able to escort her for herb gathering! The thought brought a smile to her face.
Whisperingkit blinked up at Berryshine as she sat near Cobwebfern, looking between the two healers with wide, curious orbs. "I-Is it okay if I sit with you two?" She asked timidly, not wanting to get in trouble. And once the meeting really got started, she had a feeling she wasn't supposed to be there.

Berryshine was focusing on what Stormstar might be getting ready to say — the leader did look a little tense, after all — when she heard a young, squeaky voice pipe up. Ears perking up in curiosity, the small brown molly glanced down, seeing the small kit with eyes as big as the moon staring up at her. Immediately she purred, breaking into a soft smile, chest warming in endearment. Kits always tugged on her heartstrings.
"W-Well, of course, little one. I'm sure my friend here wouldn't mind at all either," Berryshine mused warmly, giving Cobwebfern a wry glance as she beckoned the kit closer with her skinny tail. As long as Stormstar hadn't made it explicitly clear kits weren't to be at meetings, there should be no problem, and she wanted to ease the little one's anxieties. She recognized the kit from Swanberry's kitting, although that had been around two moons ago now... how time flew...
"You... y-you're Whisperingkit, right?" She added with a gentle tone, trying not to remember the nagging horror of all the stillborn siblings she'd seen in the den that day. Whisperingkit and her remaining siblings were alive and well, as far as she knew... and that's what mattered. "I'm Berryshine. I helped your mother the day you were born. I-It's nice to more formally meet you," she added with a lighthearted purr. It was rare to see the jumpy medicine cat at ease, but kits brought out a warmth in her that made her head feel like it wasn't racing for once.
When Stormstar started the announcements, she quieted down, but gently let her tail touch the kit's shoulder if she wanted the contact to let her know it was alright to be here.
She chuckled as she listened eagerly to Weepingwind speak. "Me too! Just got a bunch of scrapes and scars and bruises while those stupid otters tossed me around. Those nasty creatures thought they could mess with RiverClan and make it out alive! We beat the hell outta them!!" She exclaimed with a toothy grin as she stood a little straighter, puffed her chest out a bit with pride. "They're just a buncha nasty wet rats. But I suppose I'd rather fight a wet rat than those foxes. I hate those things. Used to scare me back as a kitten reeeeaaal good." She yammered on. A shiver rolled down her spine at the thought of a fox. Their long toothy snouts and crooked grins. As a kitten the lanky creatures always managed to slip under the fences of the farm and steal (and eat) their chickens. Always made the Twolegs mad when they witnessed the flurry of feathers and squawking from the coop. Ma always just told Peach and her sibling to ignore it. It was real nice to have someone puttin' up with all her blabbering.
Peachspring's round ears perked in interest as Weepingwind began to analyze her and her positive nature. She flicked her tail and her gaze softened at the compliments. Wow... Nobody's ever really said something like that before. It was quite the light-hearted conversation, and opposed the overall atmosphere of the Skyridge at the moment. She began to speak once more. "Me? Let a couple of otters get my spirits down? Never! I've been through worse. Way worse." She laughed heartily as she spoke to Weepingwind, finding herself greatly enjoying the she-cat's company. She paused as she listened to Weepingwind's compliments and kind words. "Aww, you're a sweetheart, Weepin'wind!" she purred.
The molly turned her attention back to the Skyridge when Stormstar began to speak once more. Her eyes sparkled with interest as she listened to the ceremony and watched the excited little kiddos bounce up to get their new apprentice names. She watched as each of them and their mentors got announced. None of them were her. Boooooooo! Then onto the reassignments. Weepingwind was called up first for Starrypaw. Peachspring purred and turned to her friend. Could she call Weepingwind a friend? Ehh, didn't matter much to her. They'd had a nice conversation with kind words. That made them friends in her book. "Aww! Looks like you're getting an apprentice!" Then she blinked as her own name was announced, and she bounced up to her feet to scan the crowd for Jaggedpaw. "And looks like I got one too! Guess we should go up there and meet 'em, huh? We'll have to finish our lil' conversation later. We should go huntin' or somethin' later. Maybe we could take 'em training together at some point. Or even go someone alone." Peachspring purred with a playful wink, before she flicks her tail and makes her way to the crowd to touch noses with Jaggedpaw. If she could find him first.
