~ Killer of Madness ~

Curltail, made her way out of the camp to get away from her clanmates. She didn't exactly feel all that well and didn't know what was wrong. The molly looked at her paws as she walked. Curltail sniffed the air and scented a squirrel nearby. She got into a hunters crouch and stalked forward. "I got you." she whispered. She stepped in a twig and watched the squirrel go running. Curltail sprang after it, jumping into a tree where the squirrel had gone.
The warrior padded out of the camp, and after his mate. "Curltail!" He yowled. He realized the tree was dead. "Curltail! Get down!" He wailed, his eyes were wide with horror. "Oh no no no..." He launched himself up, grasping on the tee with his claws and pulled up. Get down...please...

"Okay!" Eaglepaw couldn't hide his excitement. He walked quickly beside the molly, the sunshine filtering through the leaves. Eaglepaw decided He liked Milkywillow. He listened intently to his mentor. "Well no, Skykit is my friend, but not my best friend" He explained. "Bellkit, her sister is my best friend!" He said. He could smell something funny. It smelt like the fresh kill pile. Well, we've got to get to the border first! He thought to himself. "Where's the border?" Eaglepaw asked.
“Not much too far ahead” Milkywillow said intently. She slipped through a small bush and whisked her tail for him to follow her. Milkywillow could smell RiverClan but wanted him to get used to the smell and said, “Do you know what that smell is?” She looked around at the border she had seen so many times. Her eyes whisked around trying to see if any other cats were there but she couldn’t see any cats. “Let’s continue” She meowed softly, her eyes whisking around the trees. She also wanted to see if he could know the SkyClan scent he grew up with. “Can you recognize this scent?” She meowed gesturing to a small bush for him to scent if he didn’t know already. She decided that she enjoyed gaveling an apprentice and would enjoy the six moons with him. Even though she was 43 moons old,she had never had an apprentice and would worry that she might never get one. Her fear was turned to joy as Goursestar had called her name yesterday and she loved him like a mother would.

"Okay!" Eaglepaw said, slowing down. He followed her through the bushes and trees. When she asked him to smell the air, He sniffed, focused. Eaglepaw wrinkled his nose. " I don't know what that is, but it doesn't smell too good! " He said, making a face. He continued to walk behind the molly. He smelt the bush she gestured to gently. "That's what I smell like! Is that..." He paused. " Skyclan scent? " Eaglepaw asked. He was enjoying this already. Sometimes he was scared about becoming an apprentice as a kit, but now he met Milkywillow, he felt reassured. She's such a good mentor! Eaglepaw thought.

She could smell another cat but the scent was long gone. Even though she didnt I intend on hunting practice today, she asked him a question when she scented a pheasant nearby. “Can you recognize this smell?” She tried to give Eaglepaw a hint by saying “You can find it in the fresh-kill pile.” Milkywillow wove in and out until they neared the camp entrence. “This is all for today, but tomorrow we will be doing hunting alright?” Milkywillow meowed a bit louder than she wanted to.

Eaglepaw grinned at the molly. "Wow! Riverclan is stinky...!" He exclaimed. He felt proud when Milkywillow praised him for distinguishing Skyclan's scent. "Why is this the only border we share?" He asked. The bushes seemed so big out here. The world seemed so big. I want to learn it all! Eaglepaw thought excitedly. He sniffed the air again. "A bird?" He asked. It smelt like feathers, so it must be a bird, right? As they neared the entrance, Eaglepaw bid farewell to his mentor. "See you tomorrow!" The brown tom called as he walked into the camp.

That is the scent of a bird.” Milkywillow smiled as she started his scent training. Milkywillow watched her apprentice run torward the entrance. Evening light pooled in thought the trees above as the ginger and white tabby made her why though SkyClan territory. This was Ambershine's absolute favorite time of day, the sun just low enough to light the leaves and ground in a beautiful orange shine that was warm. It made the forest fell so warm and cozy. Prey tended to come out around this time too. Ginger paws lightly stepping around leaves and twigs the molly continued taking in the view. It was so pretty! Night hunting had to be her favorite pass time but going for a run of stroll right as the sun was setting always filled her with energy.
Stopping a leaf landed right on her nose making her sneeze before letting out a laugh. With a jump the young warrior landed in a pile of sun lit leaves spreading them everywhere. Yeah Ambershine could be a responsible warrior but at times she was as playful as a kit, this was one of those times. Rolling on her back the female batted at the leaves around her a giggle and purr coming from her. No one was around so she had no reason to act mature.

{Open to all}

Willowrain took a deep breath in, taking in the smells of the forest. She wished desperately that she could hear the sound of birds and crickets, which was sure to come out at this time. However, she was grateful for the warmth and coziness of the forest. Gracefully pulling herself into a tree, she stared out across the forest towards the water. The wind was gently caressing her fur, the smells of leaves and prey filling the air. Her clear blue eyes caught Ambershine, batting at leaves in a kit-like manner. Willowrain leaped silently, or at least she thought silently, into the tree above her. Willowrain laid down on the branch lazily, allowing the sun to warm her pelt. She loved the forest at sunset. Batting at the leaves, she said to the warrior below in her quiet, measured way, “Hey Ambershine.”

(Btw, Willow is deaf but no one knows but her.)

Wrenpaw yawned as she padded through the territory, the effects of staying up late all night were getting to her she knew she shouldn't be doing it but she just couldn't sleep .....it was because of the nightmare she had and the fact that she didn't want it again. The Molly shivered as she could still see the toms face with that sinister smile and those glowing yellow eyes that seemed to pierce through her soul every time she thought of them. She exhailed letting a cloud of fog to escape i-its ok. Your no where near shadowclan anymore...and it's against the rules for any cat to cross borders so he shouldn't be able to get over here. Your safe.. but her eyebrows furrowed at the possibilities of what could happen making her stop in her tracks what if he tries to anyways? What if I spot him on the border ?! Would he try to kill me then!? And the gatherings ! He might get me when no one's looking . What about when there's a war?! It's fair game then ! the Molly gulped and shook her head trying to get rid of any thoughts regarding of that warrior which allowed her to continue to keep walking . Besides this is originally why she was out here, to get some peace and quiet ...to get away from her current troubles.

This seemed to have worked a bit making her sigh, Wrenpaw trotted over to a tree and decided to take a rest and sit down then lean against it. Her orbs roamed over the still unfamiliar land, the first thing that she noticed was that this place wasn't as mushy and cold,it felt more..open somehow..More 'welcoming' . She didn't catch any of that, this felt cold,it felt empty,it felt as if she breathed a word of her original home to anyone that they would turn on her in an instant which caused her More stress. Normally she was proud to be half and half, but in this case sometimes she felt ashamed. Wrenpaw started humming a tune softly before being comfortable enough to sing actual words, she would be embarrassed sometimes to sing so she stuck with humming in public, her mother always said that she sounded beautiful while doing so...but that was then...this is now. She let loose "Looking in the mirror
I see someone that I don't recognize
The joy
That my heart used to know
Is eluding me
Removed
And the one thing I feel is alone..." she sang secretly hoping no one was around, but then again the clan is almost as popular as the others...it felt inevitable sometimes .

Foxpaw padded along at a leisurely pace, taking in her surroundings as she walked and pausing every so often to take a deeper look at something that would catch her attention- an odd shrub, a bird singing, animal tracks. She was simply enjoying the nature around her, when a beautiful sound reached her ears. Another cat was nearby... and they were singing. Foxpaw couldn't remember the last time she'd heard singing- perhaps when she was a kit in the nursery, and her mother would sing her and her littermates lullabies. No one really sang anymore, so her interest was piqued.

It took her a bit to locate the source of the song, and she was surprised when she stumbled upon Wrenpaw, a fellow apprentice and someone Fox liked to call a friend. "Your voice is amazing," the molly complimented, approaching the resting apprentice. "I didn't know you could sing like that."

"Memories escaping
As my heart begins to drain
Scars that cover wounds
Can't hide the self-inflicted pain-" she continued but perked her ears up at hearing an familiar voice making her stop out of embarrassment wow an audience .....great... wrenpaws eyes landed on foxpaw someone she saw quite a bit but never really felt connected to. Like with all the other cats in this clan. Atleast it wasn't a complete stranger if it was then she would die, metaphorically speaking of course. Although she still couldn't shake that feeling no matter how much she tried which in turn made her hunch over and try and be as small as she possibly could even tucking her tail in "um...thanks...I don't do it much..." she meowed with a embarrassed chuckle as she felt her cheeks getting warm by the compliment . No one really complimented her on her singing anyways so of course she'd act like this.
Though her ears went back up as she straightened herself back up and tilted her head "hold up,what were you doing out here in the first place foxpaw?..." she asked with a curious and confused tone to her voice since she only saw others going with their mentors out for hunting or border patrols. She didn't see anyone go out here just for fun other than herself . A surge of pride could be felt when she remembered the she cats name, sometimes she couldn't remember them only their faces but she managed to do so with this one.

(Sounds great. Are they going to get terriblely lost or attacked or just in trouble? Songpaw has a mentor who is also owned by me if needed.)

Breezesnow looked around the Skyclan territory, feeling much more happier then back at camp. She was glad to outside and she was glad that it had to be Stormwing along with her. The molly sniffed the air, getting a deep breath.

He couldn’t help the proud smile man hat found so its way to his face at the mention of his mentor. He absolutely adored the black-furred feline, she was his idol. Not just because she held a high rank in the clan. But he approached hoe patient she always was with him, and how hard she made him work. He’d learned a lot for an apprentice his age. “Yep, and if there’s one thing in this world I’m grateful for, its for her being my mentor.” There’s was a ringing truth to those words. Blazepaw moves his head to the side a little, pretending to think about what Redpaw as said. He straightened up after a moment, inwardly rolling his eyes at himself. No need in trying to cover it up, it was true. “Oh you bet! She says I’m very skilled and I show great promise to be an excellent warrior.” His chest puffed out in pride, his heart leaping from excitement in just remembering the words his mentor had said.

“Jumping from tree to tree...” A spark lit Blazepaw’s green eyes as he pondered the thought. He’d never tried it yet, Auroraflame and him hadn’t gotten to quite that advanced of tree-climbing skills. But to him, just the thought of it sounded exhilarating. He absolutely had to try it. As soon as possible. Because Blazepaw was a simple “do it” kind of cat. He would do anything that he thought would be fun, anything that enticed his sense of adventure and thrill-seeking. “You know, I’ve actually never tried that but it sounds really fun!” His limbs were now burning with that electrical energy that always surged through his bloodstream when his excitement levels rose. It was what one could call a very “pure form of adrenaline”, it was untapped by any doubt or fear, just simple anticipation for some fun.

With the energy buzzing in his ears, he barely heard Redpaw muse about the names he’d suggested. But he caught them at the last moment, as well as get question afterwards. That stilled his budding nerves for a moment to allow him to think. He didn’t want her to think he was ignoring her, so he tried to answer as quickly as possible. Even though he hadn’t been spaced out for very long at all. “Actually, all those sound amazing! I especially like Blazehawk. That would make me sound simply... astounding.” He widened his green gaze dramatically when saying the word, humor but some seriousness sparkling from them. “You’re plenty creative! Everyone’s got different ways of expressing it, that’s all.” He gave a little wink, hoping that it might help put her in a more playful mood. He was itching to get up an do something, his entire body was sizzling with his anticipation. He’d been sitting for too long.

When Redpaw got to her paws, Blazepaw immediately followed suit, shooting to his full height with one fluid motion. His eyes widened upon her confession, but it was only a split second before he allowed a smile to break across his face once more. “Why certaintly! I’m the king of fun times of you didn’t know.” His purr was loud and rumbled in his chest as he flicked his tail for the ginger she-cat to follow him. “Chasing birds sounds quite fun. As long as we’re nkt trying to catch them.” He pulled a face at that, laughing a moment after. He really hoped that he would be able to put Redpaw in good spirits. He hated seeing any cat down in the dumps.

Getting some fresh air would probably do her some good. Redpaw's been stuck in the dark for far too long that she was pretty certain that everything about her was rather gothic and sad. The she cat couldn't help her depression. What was she supposed to do? Pretend like her entire family was alive instead of having been murdered by a malicious killer? That would probably make her more delusional than she already was. Redpaw didn't have many friends but since Blazepaw seemed like he wanted her to deal with her, Redpaw wasn't going to deny him. At first, she wanted to sulk alone, but maybe sulking didn't seem like it would be good for her. Redpaw's eyes sparkled at the tom as she looked up at him with a soft smile. She flicked her tail, ''I guess you'll just have to prove it because I certainly don't know if you're the king of fun times.'' She teased him lightly, reaching a paw forward to nudge him playfully. He sounded so confident, it was evident in the volume of his purr, and Redpaw would like to see if such a thing was true.

Redpaw didn't want to be left alone again for quite some time, so she didn't waste any time trailing after him to start trotting at his side. She didn't want to be a poor sport when Blazepaw looked like some tom who liked to have a good time, and show others how to have a good time. Redpaw used to be quite a playful kit when she was in the nursery, but everything seemed to have happened so fast, that in a blink of an eye, she didn't know what part of her life she was living currently. Maybe everything was just a dream. Maybe she was back inside that tree stump, and this blazing colored apprentice next to her was all some illusion. She had the thought to just touch him, see if her paw could go through him or something, but she shook her head to rid her thoughts. ''Awww, is it because you can't catch a teeny tiny little wittle bird?'' She had the nerve to laugh a tiny bit, humoring herself for the first time in a long time. ''I think the chase is a lot more fun than the catch.'' Redpaw was a benevolent cat. She didn't like hunting and fighting because the thought of taking another creature's life was pretty upsetting to the she cat. Maybe she was a coward? Redpaw didn't know, but at this rate, it would be a surprise that she became a warrior.

A moment later, she was putting a little bit of a bounce in her step, her trotting became light half-running as she focused on the trail ahead, following after Blazepaw like an obedient puppy. ''Look over there,'' She slowed down in her movements, her ears perking ahead. She squinted her eyes just to be sure that they weren't playing any tricks on her to spot a flock of birds, usually the ones that loved to peck the grass anywhere. They were quite fun to ambush, if she did say so herself. Redpaw lowered herself into a playful crouch, tail swishing lowly to not draw any attention to herself as she smirked over at her company. ''You want to attack on three?'' She whispered lowly.

The brown tabby had been perched on a branch, looking at their territory. Seemingly lost in his own head. However the senior warrior was pulled from his thoughts at his apprentices call, emerald hues landed on a small molly. Calm expression plastered on his face, he hopped down, landing gracefully in front of the molly with ease. "Yes." he stated, voice steady. "Let's begin your training. We'll start with the fighting basics." with that, he strode forwards, after a few fox lengths he stopped, swiveled on his heels, and faced Skypaw, tail flicking behind him. "Try to knock me off balance."

{So late...}

Ambershine was startled by the sudden increase in raining leaves and looked up just as the other molly greeted her. Feeling her whole pelt grow hot with embarrassment. She hadn't wanted anyone to see her acting to kit-like. Trying to hide her complete and total flustered self the ginger and white tabby glanced at her paws. Calm down Amber! She doesn't seem to mind. Taking a breath the short furred molly gave Willowrain a smile. "Hi Willowrain." She called waving her tail behind her. The molly didn't know the other warrior well but she did know her name. " It's a nice day to day huh? " Ambershine would asked before leaping into the tree herself. Hauling herself onto a branch just below Willowshines she flashed a slightly playful smile before shacking out her fur. She was in a playful mood today. Even though she was normal so mature she wanted to be playful and act like a kit, but didn't want caught. How ironic right?

The bitter wind bit into Shinefang's skin like teeth that tore right through the pelt. This cold weather was murder on his old bones, but no amount of him groaning about going out made him need water any less. He sneezed as a frigid breeze seemed to smack him right in the face, and when he inhaled, there was the smell of blood on the wind. He didn't have to go far before he saw the young apprentice lying on the ground, his white shoulder sliced open and stark red on his white pelt. The old tom raised a brow as he started back at the apprentice. His speech was off somehow in a way that was familiar to him. He's met a pawful of deaf cats in his time, and the ones who had been deaf for a while had a way of talking where sounds weren't so sharp and precise. Meeting the younger cat's gaze, he lowered his head and spoke slowly, making his mouth move very deliberately. "What happened?"

Shinefang came closer as the apprentice fell back to the earth. The with and ginger tom was speaking to him and aware enough to read his lips evidently, which was good. Briskly, the old tom set his muzzle close to the wound and did a couple of short sniffs. Instantly he recognized the sour tang of infection. "How lo-" Shinefang began, but he stopped when he realized the younger cat wouldn't be able to see his mouth from where he was standing and he backed away. "How long ago did you get the wound the first time?" he asked. Based on that stench, it had been at least a couple of days. He didn't bother to stiffle his bushy tail giving an annoyed swat against the frozen earth. The apprentice should have come to him as soon as the injury had happened.

What the old tom had in his den was what he had. "I'll be back... try not to make it any worse while I'm gone. You don't move unless a Starclan opens up and tells you to, or a dog comes loping out of the woods. Got it?" The brown tabby smiled and stood still. In order to fight your opponent you had to find your opponent first, especially concerning his apprentice. He waited, and watched as she scuttled over, a little far off to the side of him, but close enough to, where, if she leapt, she would still land on him. ‘She still needs some polishing, but that’s alright.’ the older warrior told himself. She had many obstacles to overcome, this was a good start.

When she jumped the striped Tom didn’t move, apple green hues watched intently, calmly as she put her whole weight into the jump. He’d have to scold her on that later. Scorchpaw's bright green orbs widened with surprise, and she gazed around with wonder. Where should she and her mentor explore first? There were so many places and things to discover and learn about! Feeling excitement bubble in her chest, she smiled shyly and gestured with her tail to indicate their left, where a small path with gorgeous ferns. She padded towards it, then paused, glancing back to make sure Amberfire was close behind. Then she continued down the path , the ground warm underneath her paws. She breathed in the scents of the forest around her. She smiled softly to herself, enjoying the exhilaration of being in different surroundings for the first time. She paused to admire some lovely pink flowers, their gorgeous petals flourishing. She purred with delight as she sniffed them, the pleasant scent filling her nose. A butterfly suddenly landed on her nose, and the tickling made her sneeze. She shook her head , then continued along, pausing every now and then to study or sniff something that captured her interest. After a little while, she glanced at her mentor."Um... what can you teach the warrior code? What is it about...?"

Amberfire looked down at the small apprentice. “Well, the warrior code has a lot of aspects. We can start about loyalty.” She meowed, laying her tail along her apprentices back as they walked. She sniffed the smells of the forest happily, scanning for any scents. The sooner Scorchpaw learned the smells of prey and predator the better, a run in with a squirrel and a fox were two different things. Amberfire watched in amusement as Scorchpaw sneezed at the butterfly, and the ginger molly enjoyed the sight. It had been so long since innocence had been with her, and she felt the weight of it on her shoulders. The good days were gone. “For starters, don’t betray your clan. I left Thunderclan for Skyclan, but that was a matter of family you could say. But you should always be loyal to those you choose to stay with. It’s hard, but in the long run the only ones who will be there for you are your clanmates.” She thought bitterly, but fought back memories to focus on her apprentice. Scorchpaw didn’t need a backstory montage, and Amberfire was positive that her apprentice would loosen up with a happy walk in the woods.

As Amberfire spoke, Scorchpaw looked up at her, ears perked attentively. As her mentor spoke of "loyalty" the apprentice tilted her head; this was a word shes never heard of before. She silently listened, her eyes wide. "Im sorry you had to leave your birth Clan..." she mewed softly. "That must have been hard..." she looked down at the ground as she walked, sensing the distress coming from her mentor. She noticed movement in the grass up ahead and saw a beetle scuttle across the dirt. Letting out a kit-like meow, Scorchpaw leaped towards it, only to land with empty paws. She looked around forlornly, then glanced up at her mentor. What was I thinking? Scorchpaw thought to herself. I'm not a little kit anymore! she got to her paws and looked at Amberfire. "Sorry..." she meowed. She continued to pad along the pathway, gazing around her.

Skypaw sniffed the air when he located her mentor she jumped. She luckily landed on him. He batted at the tom to try to get him.
(Just so you know I don't rp apprentices that much so sorry if this isn't the greatest.)

(Don't worry none! You're doing great! :heartbounce: )

The tabby just stared, and after a second sat himself down. She hit his legs, and side, and his chest...but she needed to work on her aim. He placed his paw on her head, motioning for her to stop. "I figured we could just jump right into it but... We need to figure out a way for you to fight your opponent based on just your other senses." the warrior said, he knew training Skypaw was going to be tricky, but he never figured it'd be this tricky. After a moment of thinking an idea light up in his mind. "Describe what you hear,d smelled, and felt when you were fighting with me." Applesight stated.

Amberfire smiled. “Don’t feel sorry. It’s much better here in Skyclan anyways. Less drama, less switching leaders around every moon.” She purred, mocking Thunderclan slightly. “It was hard to leave my family, but I came here for a tom and he’s more than I wished for.” Amberfire jerked back when Scorchpaw suddenly jumped forward, but a smile broke through. A little chuckling came from the molly, and the ginger furred shecat followed her apprentice as the kit chased after the beetle. “Ha, don’t worry! It’s all practice hunting anyways. Next time, try sneaking up a bit quieter so it won’t scurry away.” She meowed positively, before they continued down the path.
They continued a little bit farther in silence, and Amberfire was comfortable with that. It was a gentle day, nicely lit by the warm sun above the forest, so it kept most of the chills away. Greenery was still out and about, and the ginger molly felt at ease. “Now, what’s next. Well, there’s also fighting in the code. One of the most important rules is to never kill another warrior, let them live to fight another day. A battle can be won without death. Remember, those cats who live over in Shadowclan have a mate and family to go back home to, so show them the same mercy they will show you.”

Leaves crackled under the grey tom's paws as he wove between two trees, his small lithe form perfect for the denser forest. Or it would be if he were not such a clutz. That was something Ash often scolded himself for, and now was certainly one of those times as he hopped on to a log. The result was him wobbling and falling off the log, barely catching himself. “Fox dung," Ashpetal huffed, not for the first time wishing that he had a sense of balance. It wasn't his fault that be had no tail though, but it played major part in his clumsiness. Again hopping on to the log, Ash quick to sit down, giving the creamy colored fur if his chest a few quick licks. This was his favorite spot to come. He refused to give himself proper time to think though, and was instead scanning the surrounding trees for prey. He needed to distract himself, otherwise he'd probably have a complete nervous breakdown. He didn't want to think about it, because he couldn't accept the reality of it.

crackle. discordpaw's ears twitched as the sound of leaves crackling made its way to her ears. her tair flickered around dangerously as her eyes darted around. she took a small inhale of air, opening her mouth to scent the forest. the scent of a skyclan cat made itself clear to her, and discordpaw relaxed slightly. her stomach grumbled, reminding her of why she was out here in the first place. "don't get distracted," she muttered quietly to herself. the apprentice's whiskers twitched and the apprentice stepped quietly around the green forest, in search of any prey. discordpaw found herself heading towards her supposed clanmate. "hello?" the female called out curiously, waiting for a reply anxiously. the silence that responded to her gave her too much time to think about reality and her problems, but discordpaw knew that her nose and ears weren't wrong. she could practically sense another cat's presence around her, but they weren't answering. perhaps discordpaw was being too quiet. that was something she did often. "hello?" the apprentice repeated, more loud this time. she almost tripped over her feet before she caught herself, glaring at the floor frustratedly as if it was the ground's fault. "really," she whispered to herself, still glaring at the undergrowth beneath her unsteady paws. discord shook her head disbelievingly for almost no good reason at all, looking around for the skyclan cat. the territory wasn't overly large, so discordpaw didn't know why it was taking her so long to figure out her clanmate's position, but maybe it was because she was too distracted. the female did get easily distracted.

One curled ear flicked back as Ashpetal noticed the faint sound of something coming up behind him, and he turned his head to look. He saw nothing there for moment, although it set him on edge a little, and his fur began to bristle as he hastily scrambled off the log and took a hesitant step towards the sound, ears back and body tense in case of danger. Only when he recognized the familiar scent of one of his clanmates did he relax, giving his head a quick shake in embarrassment. And it was only a matter of seconds before he heard a female voice call out. He couldn't place who it was, but he figured that he'd learn soon enough, as she was definitely headed in his direction, if a bit meandering. Opening his mouth to respond, he then stopped himself as the molly called out again, closer this time. Rather than responding, Ashpetal picked his way through the undergrowth, quickly spotting the younger cat. An apprentice he recognized as Discordpaw, or so he thought her name was. Picking up the pace a little, the young warrior paused several feet away. He was scarcely any larger than an apprentice himself. He'd never been a particularly large cat. A quality probably passed down from his mother, who'd been equally dainty, as one might put it. “Discordpaw, yes?” he asked, his voice hoarse and quiet. More from a lack of use than anything else, and his words seemed bland. Overall, he looked utterly exhausted.

discordpaw stopped herself from flinching as an unfamiliar voice said her name, turning to face an almost apprentice-sized warrior. discordpaw nodded. "that's me," she responded, giving the warrior a kind smile. "and i think i recognize you as ashpetal?" discordpaw said questioningly, her whispery voice competing with his. "how've you been doing?" the female asked, flapping her tail around as she typically did when she had nothing better to do. she did a quick 'ahem' to clear the to-be cough from her throat, glancing at the cat she supposed was ashpetal with an embarrassed expression displayed on her features. the apprentice scratched the ground for no reason other than to drain her of her energy. she then proceeded to stare at it challengingly, acting as if it was an interesting experiment and making absolutely no eye contact with the warrior in fear that they would judge her awkward socializing skills. it was obvious she was inexperienced with talking to cats who weren't close to her age, although the female did her best to hide it. "oh, is that a squirrel i sniff?" discordpaw said falsely. "i better go fetch it!" she said with a happy edge to her voice. sequentially the apprentice ran and hid behind an oversized tree, trying her best to blend in although she stuck out like snow with her fluffy white fur against the tree. her snout and tail were camouflaged well enough, because of her odd coloring, but the rest of her betrayed her position. hopefully ashpetal wouldn't want to talk to her so much as to go looking for her. or, even better, he believed that discord was chasing some prey. either way, discordpaw didn't want to humiliate herself in front of a warrior; and one she recognized, at that.

Ashpetal gave a slight nod to confirm her words, although he couldn't help but cringe at her next question. He'd been very reclusive for the last eight moons, having been working himself to the bone to occupy himself. “I-I've been good,” he said at last, pinning back his ears at the foul taste the words left in his mouth, and his let out a short hiss, claws digging into the ground as he studied the apprentice. It was obvious that she was uncomfortable with the situation. Was he making her uncomfortable? Biting his lip, he opened his mouth to say more when she suddenly darted off. He stared after her in confusion and stood up hastily. She shouldn't be out on her own, but he hadn't meant to scare her. Besides, he couldn't help but let out a wheezing breath, his chest seeming to tighten up. He couldn't handle the feeling, and he staggered and stopped, his breath fast and shallow. He seemed quite panicky as he stood, eyes closed. He couldn't go through this again. He didn't even know her well, and he still felt the familiar ache in his chest. Not because of her, but because of the memories it triggered. Slowly though, he relaxed and after catching his breath, Ashpetal looked around again, quickly spotting the young cat. He just wanted to apologize, and he'd hoped to be able to talk to her for a bit. Be knew there was no squirrel, after all. “I'm sorry if I did something to scare you,” he said hastily, keeping his distance.

Ringpaw was trekking through the snow. As it was growing closer to the hardest moons of leafbare, snowfall was a lot more common and Ringpaw was used to it by now. She had spent most of her life in the warm spring and greenleaf, but it was finally turning back to ice and chills. Ringpaw rather liked the snow, to be honest, it was crisp and refreshing and easy to sit in and ignore the world. That’s what she was doing now. Snowflakes drifted across her muzzle lightly, and she watched as the world grew soft and whiter by the second. No birds were chirping, no creek was splashing around, it was just deathly silent in the forest. The blanket of white seemed to hush everything around it- it was little moments like these when Ringpaw finally kept her mouth shut and enjoyed the silence.

This was so pretty! Snow was what her mentor has called it right? The cold feeling it gave yet the sight of it made your eyes stretch in wonder. Everything was white! The trees were covered in it, the shrubs and bushes and grass anything that you could see had snow on it. Hoping through the fluffy looking white ground Firepaw let out a purr of satisfaction after diving under a pile of snow and popping up covered in it. Her normal bright ginger striped fur was covered with snow and despite the cold she was having a blast. Continuing through the territory just playing in the snow she came across and sorta familiar pelt sitting among the silent white scenery. Not really thinking if it'd bother the other molly or not the young feline found herself skipping over to her. "Hia!" She greeted with a purr. "Your.. Ringpaw right? I'm Firepaw nice to meet ya!" She purred a smile beaming from her. That was right Ringpaw was Shinefang's apprentice she was sure, at least this molly looked the same.

What was this place? Finneous had wandered father this time than he usually ever did. He could tell not only by the unfamiliar landscape but by the throbbing in his pads, warning him that another mile might leave him injured. He decided to get a better vantage point and rushed towards a rocky structure a few tail-lengths away. His shoulders flex and he heaved himself up. the first step and his muscles rippled underneath his blue pelt as he neared the peak.

Once on top of the boulder, Finn could see the land he felt was so strange. Unbeknownst to him, this was SkyClan, a concept and a place he had hardly ever grappled with even when he was in the Dusk Syndicate. He marveled at how suddenly the landscape changed from the marsh he was so accustumed to to.. Whatever this was. He took a deep breath but didn't recognize any scent. Bent down and lapped at some soil strewn across the boulder but realized it was not nearly as acidic as his home's. The tomcat narrowed his eyes. Where am I?

"Well I smelled you and the forest and I Heard the the wind and you moving I felt the ground beneath me and when I jumped on you I felt you." She explained.

White, sparkling, fluffy snow was everywhere. In the trees, on the bushes, covering the ground. The young apprentice whom was trudging through the white fluff wanted to romp about and play in the sparkling wonderland, but she knew she needed to focus on her task, which was to hunt three pieces of Fresh Kill by herself. She let out a sigh; she wished she could play in the snow for just a few minutes... She made up her mind, and, after straightening her flower crown with a paw, she began to jump and fling snow in the air, letting out a small mrrow of laughter. She threw and batted the white fluff around, pretty much a game of moss-ball, but with snow. Suddenly, she threw a bunch of snow farther than she intended, and it flew over a large rock. A yowl of surprise was heard afterwards. Confused, the apprentice scrambled up the rock to see a tom there, and she realized she had accidentally hit him with the snow! She let out a little gasp. "Oh- oh! I'm sorry... I didn't mean to do that!" she started kneading her paws into the moss on the rock, which surprisingly had not a bit of snow. Well, except for what she threw, of course. She let out a little wail of despair. She... She might have killed him! She shook her head before padding closer to the tom. Are- are you okay? I didn't hurt you, did I?," she asked fearfully.

Finn sighed. He was ready to give up his mental search for answers and seek them out on foot. He took a whiff, readied his shoulders, and immediately was hit in the face with a snow ball. He yowled and fell back on his haunches. Out of breath from both the cold and the blow, he let the snow slide down his face. Seconds later, a she-cat arrived. Finn could hardly make out her pelt, as his eyes were squinted almost shut to avoid the snow that still adorned his cheeks and forehead. "It, uh..." the tom began, pausing to wipe the wetness from his brow, "It's fine. I guess." He stood back up and shook himself of the cold, though there was really no escaping it due to the temperature. "I wasn't really expecting anything would hit me in the face today," he meowed, making eye-contact with the stranger. He might not have been expecting a snow ball to the face, but he could hardly hide his excitement. He was trained to be a fighter, this is what he lived for! A chance to show off his skills was just what he needed... but... He took a closer look at his acquaintance. She was wearing flowers on her head, she had been apologetic and her claws were retracted. Finn huffed a sigh, not caring to hide the fact that he was disappointed he wouldn't be beating her up. Almost as if the blow had caused short-term memory loss, Finn appeared to have to recollection of being lost, or of wandering anywhere at all. He sat blissfully unaware of his predicament, as if waiting to be prompted of it when the stranger again spoke.

The apprentice let out a little sniffle, feeling tears gather in her eyes. "But... But it's not okay! What if I had hurt you?!" she stepped closer, then tentatively reached out a paw, setting it gently on top of his as a way of greeting, her tear-filled dark blue gaze meeting his. "My... My name's Robinpaw, by the way. It's nice to meet you. What's yours?" she felt her maw tremble as she struggled to not let out another wail. She felt really really bad about hitting the tom with the snow and wanted to do something, anything to make it up to him... She hated herself for being so foolish. Then, she suddenly had an idea. "Oh! I know, what if I hunt some prey for you? Maybe a nice rabbit or squirrel? I'm not the best hunter, but I can certainly try!" she gave him the best smile she could, though her maw was still trembling from the need to cry.

Finn's head sort of shrunk into his neck in discomfort. He wasn't used to cat's being as.. apologetic as his stranger was being. "Don't worry about it," he said cooly, though he hardly felt cool, "And I'm fine, really, no harm done!" He watched her place her paw on his and instinctively pulled away. He wasn't aware of how sensitive the molly was and had no idea how she would react, but even if he had he wasn't the kind of cat that would pay attention to those type of things. When she told him her name his memory was jogged and for a moment, he forgot she was talking to him. A Clan name? Wait, where am I? "Wait, where am I?" He repeated his thoughts out loud, not having her her suggestion of catching him some prey.

Eaglepaw trodded slowly through the territory. He decided he was going for a little walk before hunting. As he passed through, he remarked at his surroundings, eyeing each leaf and blade of grass curiously. "I hope New-leaf will come soon!" He breathed aloud. As he walked, his mind was full of questions. He was secretly hoping someone would stop him for a conversation or something to make things more interesting. It would help with all the things going on. He sighed and passed on, stopping in a grove of oak trees. Pinecones were scattered, and there was a light frost in the breeze. He breathed heavily and sat down, looking for anyone around in the forest.

"Just trying to entertain myself by tossing a pinecone around." Sunpaw said and smiled friendly. She knew she was acting like a kit but she didn't care what others thought of her. She looked up at Eaglepaw. He seemed familiar but she couldn't firgure out how. Sunpaw wasn't born in Skyclan, she was born in Windclan. She always used to sneak into Skyclan and play with a kit a bit older than her. Though she moved here once she was able to be apprenticed. She never saw the Tom kit again. She let out a sigh, she missed him so much. Though she didn't know where or who he was.

“I'm sorry if I did something to scare you,” he said hastily, keeping his distance.

discordpaw's heart pounded in her ears. her conscience tugged at her, causing her to feel as though she'd acted selfishly when she'd made an abrupt.... "escape", if that was what one would call it. "no, you did nothing wrong," the apprentice responded, pushing herself against the tree even more to hide herself. maybe if she blended in, problems wouldn't be able to find her. she knew that that wasn't how life worked, but it was worth a try... more or less. "i'm sorry, i'm just not a skilled socializer," discordpaw said apologetically, knowing that wasn't enough of an apology but not wanting to speak unnecessary words. the female wanted to explain her sudden behavior, but even as she took a moment to think, there was really no explanation that could make her actions seem all that reasonable. that caused another twinge of guilt. "i simply didn't want to humiliate myself in front of a warrior, but i think i just did." the apprentice gave a small sigh, relaxing against the tree bark. she took a few steps away from the tree. she didn't reveal her position openly, but she stopped trying so hard to hide from her clanmate. after all, they were clanmates. what could go wrong? a whole lot, her thoughts told her, but discordpaw figured she should ignore them. her ear twitched incompetently as she stared at the ground in embarrassment, looking at it like it was the mona lisa.

Skyclan. Finn knew he wasn't the brightest but he definitely did not remember SkyClan. He barely knew the other three. Or was it four? He let the ideas bounce around in his head for a second before giving up, deciding it was too much work for too little reward. He knew all that he needed to: he was in a Clan's territory, trespassing, actually, and looking to get home. But he was sort of stuck with this stranger... "Someplace where we can talk.." He thought out loud, twitching his ears with concentration. "I think I saw a hollow a little ways back," Finneous suggested after a second, trying to remember if the hollow was in or outside SkyClan's territory. His thoughts were interrupted by Robinpaw's gentle voice. Different? How? "I guess I might be a little bit stronger and a little bit funnier." The corners of his mouth turned up and an egotistic smile appearing on his face. He, too, puffed his chest a little with pride, clearly pleased.

Finn was glad his joke had gone over well. None of the cats he met while on his own were ever up for a laugh, it seemed. They were all preoccupied or angry. Nothing like Robinpaw. The Russian Blue was glad to show her the hollow. He turned and started in the direction he faintly remembered it being, though he couldn't be totally certain. Despite his mind being calm, it was apparent that he didn't pick up on her knowing his name. Subtleties were never something he was able to detect easily. He lead her first into the trees, thinking they would need cover in order to hide from the other Clan cats. When they reached where the woods started to thin, Finn wove his way into a bush, crouching on the ground as to not be seen. "Over there is where I saw the hollow," he told her, pointing with his ears to a drop in the landscape ahead. "But it's pretty open and I can smell other cats around. We're going to have to make a break for it." He couldn't hide the excitement in his tone as he told her the plan. His tail lashed back and forth, he was clearly eager to show off his speed.

He gave Robinpaw a toothy smile before darting out of the bush. He heaved his body forward, favoring his hind legs. The wind was roaring in his ears an almost deafening noise. The grass whipped at his paws, stinging a little but he hardly payed attention. As he bounded along he looked over at his accomplice and stuck out his tongue, turning just as quickly back to the landscape. The small downhill ended up being bigger than he remembered, though, and his paws almost fell out from under him. His expression morphed as his fore paws caught the ground. At the last second Finn was able to stay vertical, swerving to the left into the secluded area around the crater he was leading them towards. He skidded to a halt. His chest rose and fell almost as fast as it felt he was going just seconds ago. Playing up his exhaustion for Robinpaw's amusement, he collapsed on the ground, letting his tongue hand out almost as if he was dead.

His chest rose and fell almost as fast as it felt he was going just seconds ago. Playing up his exhaustion for Robinpaw's amusement, he collapsed on the ground, letting his tongue hand out almost as if he was dead.

Robinpaw watched with a smile on her maw as Finn ran across the grass, and when he exaggeratingly flopped down with his tongue hanging out, she burst out in meows and purrs of laughter, her head tilting back slightly while she shook her head. A purr rumbling deep in her chest, she got to her paws and stuck her nose out of the bush, sniffing the air before she poked out her head, she then tensed her limbs before shooting out from the bush, her body gracefully bounding across the grass, her tail streaming behind her. When she reached Finneous, she skidded to a stop before falling back on her haunches, her long fur sticking out in all directions. She smiled triumphantly at her companion before beginning to smooth down her fur with her tongue, soft rasping sounds coming from her throat. Though, try as much as she did, she couldn't get it the way she wanted. She sighed and shook herself out; that didn't help either. So she just stood there pouting, her fur completely unkempt, which looked hilarious with her pouty face. She glared at Finn. "Don't you dare laugh," she growled when she saw amusement spark up his eyes.

((Wouldn't it be so cute if he helped her with her fur and they start sharing tongues? squeee, such excite! cx ))

Shinefang felt the pain in his joints like it was a distant thing. He had slipped out as quietly as he could, trying not to wake Ringpaw. Dawn had yet to break. The word was cold and still. He could hear evey slight crunch of frozen grass under his paws. His whole body felt numb as he made his way to the spot in the territory where Skyclan buried its dead. Here, the frozen earth was recently, painstakingly dug. As he sat there, staring down at the grave of the former Skyclan deputy, he thought to himself that is he had joined the elder's den instead of becoming the clan medicine cat, it would have been his duty to dig out the spot that would become Auroraflame's final resting place. He hadn't done that for her. He hadn't even had more than a pawful of civil conversations with the shecat. Now, he never would. Now, even though by all rights she should be supporting Skyclan during these troubled times, supporting her leader, preparing to lead the clan herself one day, here she was instead. And here he was, still linger while cats younger and stronger than himself died. He had had his own brush with Greencough and still pulled through. For what? So he could watch the cats around him die instead of him?

Ringpaw awoke to a rustling in the den. Assuming it was just Shinefang preparing herbs for the day, she though nothing of it and dismissed it with a flick of her ear. She had been having trouble sleeping lately, thinking of how close Shinefang had been to death and how close the clans were to losing tons of honorable warriors, but she had just managed to get some well-earned rest last night. Opening one eye after the rustling faded away, Ringpaw peered around in confusion. Shinefang wasn’t here. Concerned, Ringpaw thought over where he could have gone. It was before dawn, maybe dirtplace? Ringpaw knew it wouldn’t be polite to interrupt his visit to dirtplace, but she wanted to check in on him because if he was going to the bathroom this early instead of sleeping, he could be having some more issues. Standing up, the small calico began to exit the den. She was nearly fully-grown now, but yet she noticed she was always shorter than most cats. Maybe she was just going to stay that way.
Sniffing the air, Ringpaw exited the den. The cold breeze nipped her nose, so she fluffed up her pelt against the chills and began to pad after Shinefang’s scent. It didn’t lead to dirtplace, so she titled her head in confusion. Early morning walk?
——
Upon arriving where Shinefang was, Ringpaw halted. His head was dipped, shoulders slumped. Why was he here, in the burial grounds? Ringpaw never liked visiting this place, it reminded her that at any moment a cat could die and would be laid to rest here, in the cold earth. “S-Shinefang?” She said aloud, approaching slowly. He looked... sad. But also angry, as he stared down at the rustled earth. With a tip of her head, she puzzled over the grave. Who is this?

Scorchpaw gave a nod, putting the hunting tips her mentor gave her in her head. As Amberfire spoke about fighting and showing mercy, the apprentice gazed up at her, green eyes wide. "I... I would never kill another cat... It'll just be a blood on my paws and a weight on my shoulders..." she resisted a shudder at the thought of being responsible for another cat's death, no matter how aggressive and bloodthirsty her foe may happen to be. She'd let herself die first. She gave her mentor a small smile. "I know a little bit of the code. Like, something that says not to trespass or hunt on another Clan's territory?," she mewed as they padded along through the trees. Suddenly her green orbs brightened. "Speaking of, will you show me the borders?," she asked excitedly, bouncing slightly on her paws. She has grown quite comfortable around her mentor now, and she was actually enjoying this little tour of the territory.

Shinefang heard the small rustle of another cat approach wasn't particularly surprised to hear Ringpaw's voice breaking into his thoughts. By now, they had spent enough time together that he could practically pick out her paw steps above his other clanmates. Plus, she was basically living in his shadow these days. He got the impression that the shecat was nervous to leave him alone after his battle with greencough. Not that it matters, he thought bitterly, at this rate I'll live forever. Maybe she'll even go before me. The tom gave a visible flinch, instantly hating himself for thinking this. Ringpaw came up beside him, and after stealing a short glance at her, he knew the question on her mind. "Auroraflame. You probably heard already but she didn't survive the greencough outbreak." Cold spread through his chest and he swallowed, holding down the swelling feeling inside. "We didn't really see eye-to-eye. Personality clashes, I suppose. I know it's shocking to think that not everyone gets along with me." A smile twitched across his lips that never reached his eyes, which stayed hollow and fixed on the earth. "She would have been a fine leader for Skyclan. I wish I had told her that."

A rustle of leaves could be seen in an bush as ice blue eyes could be seen within the shadows that were glued to a rather skinny looking vole that she had her eyes on for the past few minutes . It wasn't much , but it was better than nothing in this weather , in all honesty there has been sweeter weather than this but to her she didn't mind the cold one bit. After all it's nature . Her nose twitched as she tentatively reached her left paw out as she did however the leaves rustled again louder than last time causing the vole to perk it's ears up and scan the surrounding area making Frostpaw stop her actions with a flick of her tail. After what seemed like an eternity the vole went back to scavenging for what ever food it could find . Upon deciding it was clear she put her paw on to the cold ground and slowly brought herself out of the bush thus revealing her ragged left ear and scarred left eye, which she was proud of , a wound worthy of showing off after having to deal with that monstrous dog that took her parents . THe dark grey and brown splotched Molly flicked her ears before charging at the vole as fast as she could with her claws sharp, it was only a tail length away so it wasn't a big deal. The vole perked its ears up and turned its head around to see a flash of a white grey and brown pelt leap at it before feeling a sharp burning pain it's neck and blacking out. Success. Joy rushed through Frostpaw at a job well done as she clutched the vole between her jaws and began to walk back to camp.

In the camp a molly could be seen pushing something. The chocolate molly with a slight rusty tent was pushing rocks and pebbles around the camp. Mahoganytuft stopped, looking at the small circle of rocks she made around a plant. A smile appeared on her maw, happy with her art, which is what she liked to call it. Her ears swiveled slightly, seeing a feline had come into the clearing.
Looking at the young cat, who Mahoganytuft didn't recognize. The molly shrugged, rolling her shoulders. Seeing a beautiful rock that was tinged orange from the dirt and rain, her eyes lit up.
Swiftly walking over, she lightly bumped into Frostpaw. Glancing back at the feline, Mahoganytuft smiled lightly. "Sorry!" She meowed, for bumping into the other.

The mouse ran as fast as it could , it saw a few bushes and darted into them then booked it . Never to be seen after that . Frostpaw got back up and shook fur after sneezing a few times , she looked at the ground frantically for the creature before looking at where Mahoganytuft was and folded her ears back as her eyes widened , they failed. She failed. Anger rose as her orbs turned to ice with an irritated tail ripple, how are they gonna find anything else in this wasteland !? With another tail ripple she padded back towards the vole she had burried, she never failed at hunting and if she did she made sure she was the only one who knew about it....that mouse made her look like a fool . A kit! She hissed under her breath and gave Mahoganytuft glares here and there . A warrior being defeated by a mouse . How? Her pelt rippled with anger. A streak of perfection for that moon broken ,even though she did catch one thing two would have been best .

Cloudpaw watched a bird on the ground. If I'm fast enough I can get it she thought. She stalked it slowly. She jumped with her claws untheathed, at the bird but missed and rolled out of a bush.

Walnutwhiskers padded along the territory attentive to every small sound in the territory looking to catch a bit of prey to bring back to camp. Out of nowhere, the long furred brown tom saw a bird flying away and out came rolling a cat from a bush. The situation was rather amusing so he forced himself not to laugh but he couldn't stop his long whiskers from twitching in amusement, "Are you okay?" He was not at all concealing how funny he found the situation.

Amberfire smiled warmly. “Excited, are we?” She observed playfully, her eyes looking ahead contently. Spring was in the air, what a perfect time to have an eager apprentice. “Sure thing. Let’s go.” She meowed, sticking her tail up like a flag and then she began to veer off the path. It was a bit less traveled over here, but she knew they could stop in a pretty clearing on the way. Besides, it was a shortcut towards the southern border. It would give them some time to wander around the borders. Amberfire jumped over a small log, her paw brushing the ferns on the other side. “We’re heading to the southern border. It’s the closest to the other clans, and the way we normally head down to Seastones.” She explained. “There’s also a really gorgeous clearing up ahead, we can stop to take a drink at the stream there.” She purred cheerfully.

Shinefang sat in silence for a long moment before he went on, then he turned and met his apprentice's gaze, his one remaining eye dry, but full of long years and heavy sights as deep and permanent as the scars on his body. "So let me say this now, your old mentor was a mouse-brained twit. You're smart. You learn quick. You're already an excellent medicine cat. Skyclan is luck to have you." He turned back to the grave then and added in a soft murmur, "Don't you forget it."

Ringpaw looked down solemnly. She had heard of the deputy’s passing, but it hadn’t really ever crossed her mind that Auroraflame was gone. She was shocked to even hear Shinefang admit that they didn’t agree all the time. sure, the small calico had noticed the slight tension being drawn out in the air, but she hadn’t realized it went deeper than just being uncomfortable. Ringpaw, being the emotional slump she is, could feel a few tears clinging to the corners of her eyes. Not a lot, but just enough for her to know they were there. As he went on, the calico could only sit beside him and stare at the freshly packed dirt. Grass was torn in clumps at the side, marking where the deputy’s resting place had been carved out. Ringpaw sighed. “Do you really think so? I’m so dumb sometimes.” She croaked in disbelief. “I don’t always know what to do other than for minor injuries. What happens when someone has greencough? What if I can’t save them and they wind up like- like Auroraflame.” She spluttered, her voice trailing off at the end. She could feel her paws clenching in the soft peat under her paws, and her whiskers trembled.
———
Exchanging a glance with her mentor, she blinked her tears away and looked around. Standing up, she briskly walked out of the clearing, scanning the ground. A few foxlengths into the woods there stood a patch of small crocuses, their magenta petals spread outwards with the promise of spring. Bending down, the apprentice plucked a few by their stems. She felt bad for ending their bloom, but she carried them back to Auroraflame’s grace. Setting them down at where her head would be, Ringpaw stepped back to where Shinefang sat and quietly took in the scene. “I know you don’t believe in Starclan, but I do and I believe she’s watching and she knows that you admired her courage. I agree, she would have been a great leader. But she was the best deputy, Shinefang.” She murmured softly, gazing upwards as the morning scrawled across the sky.

And besides, the best medicine cat to ever walk live is still going to lose cats. Death is part of life." Seeing the apprentice beginning to tremble at her own catastrophic thoughts, the elder tom lifted his bushy tail to lay it on he quivering shoulders. But suddenly, she walked off and he let it fall. Shinefang turned back to the grave, letting the younger cat have her moment to collect herself, but to his surprise, she stepped back into his view to delicately lay flowers on the patch of earth. Then with great conviction, Ringpaw gave a worthy eulogy for the fallen deputy, and the old tom didn't even bother to correct his apprentice when she said he didn't believe in Starclan. Why shouldn't she think that? He was just taken in by the strength of her words. He let them wash over him and agreed with a soft, "Yes. She was..."

"I'd hope you'd at least recognize me," Doepaw told her, her tail twitching behind her. "We're in the same Clan, and sleep in the same den."

"I bet Grousestars fought a fox before." He commented. Awing, "Maybe even a badger..!" He said, thinking of what Grousestar may have fought in the past.

Doepaw looked at his friend in annoyance. "Yeah, sure Grouestar's fought a fox, but he's got nine lives, and he's a leader, not an apprentice!" (( This is a mobile post but I couldn’t wait any longer, for sure didn’t want to have to postpone any longer than it needed to be c: ))

Rasping her tongue over her multi coloured fur the she cat flattened down uneven tufts of wayward fur, embracing the warm breeze that seemed to rob the cold of leafbare. The sight of green and the smell of freshly bloomed clovers was exciting enough, and to add the perfect day on top of it? Nothing could be better, the blue sky with puffs of clouds sluggishly crawling across the sky mirroring her own patches of creamy white that dotted her pelt here and there. A smile was temporarily placed on her muzzle as she let the warm air lull her into a sense of calm, wrapping its fresh scent around her, replacing the harsh winds with a far more pleasant breeze. She couldn’t help but smile at the thought. The intensity of leafbare was nearing the end of its cycle. Finally.
Lately she had noticed the significances of the weather changes, not only had it peeled back hostility from most of her clanmates but it seemed to draw out grousestar. Admittedly she had only seen the tom once outside and she supposed most of his isolation was due to auroraflame. One could only hope the change in seasons was helping. Sweeping her tail along her stubby legs she tilted her head back and took a deep breath, flexing her claws out of their sheaths and yawning.
The tom wasn’t looking better yet, but who was she to judge that for him? He was grieving and he deserved to have privacy; another thought entered her mind. Perhaps you’d been interrupting the other day? Stumbling up there looking like a- she paused as the toms voice broke her from her thoughts and Shen perked up. Ears turning red as of he could hear everything she’d been thinking. ‘ ‘ oh uh- ‘ ‘ she paused ‘ ‘ I was just about to head out myself, perfect timing ‘ ‘ surprised the tom had even approached she quickly recovered standing and looking him over briefly. How odd that grousestar would’ve come to her for company on a patrol? How odd that he would mention trust, Her eyebrows thoughtfully knit together. Strange enough as it was it caught her attention instantly, they had only had the chance to share a meal together and even then she was a ball of nerves. Maybe this was actually a good sign? He was socializing again.
The weather didn't make much of a difference to Grousestar in this state, perhaps earlier in his life, before all of this turmoil and tragedy, he would have relished and enjoyed the sunshine and milder weather. But now it barely even made it to his conscious. What was the point in appreciating the weather if he was going to suffer anyways. The leader didn't exactly speak to her right away, in fact, the first few minutes of padding out of the camp were perfectly silent, save for the sounds of the forest around them. His thoughts reeled as he tried to think of what he wanted to say. He was grateful. For her being there the other day, when it seems no other cat could care. For giving him a slight hope that maybe not all of Skyclan was lost to him. But he couldn't say that. Instead, all he could offer was,
"Thank you."
Did he need to explain to her? He didn't think so. And he couldn't bring himself to do it anyways. Already he could feel a deep throb in his heart for speaking those two words. Words that should be spoken so freely and easily and yet, he could never really use them for who was there to help him? Who was there for him anymore? Not his parents, not his brother, not his deputy. He could say it to Rabbitfluff, but he ran the risk of driving him away, or so he thought. And he trusted no one else to speak those words to. So he would say them to her, to the one warrior who took the time to just.. Sit with him. And share a meal even if he didn't want that to happen. Even if he didn't trust her fully.
The brown tabby's eyes were focused ahead, slightly unfocused as he walked, ears not swiveling. He wasn't paying attention to his surroundings, he was just walking to walk. He was walking to escape his dark prison of a den. Away from the tar that clung to his paws and pulled him to the ground, making him immobile and weak. Away from the pain that lingered over him in the camp like a permanent shadow. Maybe this was another step in the right direction, to overcoming things and moving forward. Moving away from the valley and instead rising to the hill. To greatness again.

Rainkit dashed through the forest, with no sense of direction. Finally he paused by a small pool, held in by the rocks. Breathing heavily, he stooped to drink some of the water. When he pulled his head up, the sun was definitely shining.

He knew that he should head back to camp. But he'd be in trouble if he did that. Maybe if he stayed in the forest for a couple days, hidden from the warriors, they'd all miss him too much to be mad at him for running off. In any case, he'd should at least rest here a moment.

Where had Rainkit run off to? Stormkit wondered. He wasn't a tracker, or rather he hadn't been trained to track... because he hadn't been trained to do anything yet. He should have just stayed in the Nursery and not tried to get what his brother had wanted. He should have known it'd get them both into trouble. Yet, Stormkit had done it anyway.

"Lets go catch a rabbit..." the black and white kitten murmured under his breath. "That sounds great!... not."

"Rainkit! Where are you?" Stormkit called out into the trees.

She didn’t think to speak, there was nothing to really speak about anyways. She padded alongside him, letting the subtle sound of gentle pawsteps pressing against damp earth lull her into a sense of comfort. The silence wasn’t something she was entirely used to, in fact it was almost weird to simply just walk. She couldn’t quite bring herself to remember a time she just walked with a friend without some brief friendly conversation. Although that might’ve been due to the fact she, afterall, was a talker. As he spoke she felt her fur prickle, glinting yellow eyes tracing over his features briefly. ’ ‘oh, of course.’ ‘ What was he saying thank you for? She could only guess. As the silence once again settled between them she felt herself growing more curious. He was off and it wasn’t just her who had noticed it, he needed someone and she didn’t quite know who that someone was. As she pondered this thought she found the silence almost irritating in a way, the things said between the lines that she couldn’t quite catch was driving her crazy. She’d have to say something, anything to get him talking. The only thing she could think to ask was, how are you doing? But she already knew the answer to that. He could lie to cover it up, but she wouldn't be fooled too easily. For a while she let the silence settle, there was no harm in asking and yet she was still so hesitant. He was like any one of her clanmates, only far more important.. Her ears pinned to the back of her head breathing out a an unsteady sigh. You do this all the time, intervene when you aren’t wanted and yet here we are. Debating whether or not you want to start conversation. She rolled her eyes into the back of her head letting out an inaudible sigh of frustration. I bet the only thing he wants is to be treated like everyone else right now, he must feel so alone. His deputy gone, the war still fresh on everybody's minds and the stress of being a leader. She hadn't seen anybody talk to the tom in what felt like months, Swallowing down her anxiety she turned to him
’ ‘beautiful day isn’t it?’ ‘ she chided glancing over her shoulder at him and flicking her tail behind her a few times. Wasn’t that bad was it? having the silence temporarily broken caused her to let out a breath of relief through her nostrils. Keeping off to the side of him and trying her best not to trip over her own paws as she kept looking up at him awaiting a response that may never come. Grousestar towered over her like most cats did, thus making his legs naturally longer than hers, so to keep up she had to do an awkward little skip, combined with trying to fixate her gaze on his face she couldn’t quite put one paw in front of the other. Which she’d have to admit she was surprised she hadn’t face planted yet, that was until she tripped right over a root interrupting the somewhat smooth walking. Tripping and struggling to keep on her paws as she nearly went muzzle first into the mud, before eventually straightening out producing a small embarrassed laugh to cover up for nearly face planting.

Tripping and struggling to keep on her paws as she nearly went muzzle first into the mud, before eventually straightening out producing a small embarrassed laugh to cover up for nearly face planting.

At this point, Grousestar was used to silence. It was something he had come to expect when he was around others, after all, most of the time they were too fearful to speak to him. That used to not be the case, he liked to think he used to be a very open and friendly cat that could go around and talk to just about everyone. Now no one approached him, no one except for a very special few. Which was why he was currently out walking with one of them. One who made an effort to reach him while he was in one of the deepest emotional pits of his 9 lives. Though of course he didn't expect conversation to come easily, even now. He didn't particularly know what to say, he had lost that charm, that charisma to talk about anything and everything. Most topics seemed bland and pointless and he didn't feel like pouring out his heart to her, not when he didn't trust her fully. That would only lead to him being stabbed in the back, before he knew it, another revolution would start and Skyclan would be torn in half and perhaps even disbanded. He couldn't say those thoughts to her. A leader couldn't say those things. They were thoughts he was meant to burden alone, because he was just that. A leader. No one was supposed to know of the hardships that leaders go through, you're supposed to make it look heroic and fun, so that kits could have something to dream of to grow up to be. If you let out that being a leader was no where near what everyone thought it would be, no one would want to be the leader and the clan would fall apart and become nothing but a group of rouges. Frustration began to grow on him as he searched for something to say, something to talk about, something he could talk about. But it faded when he heard her break the growing silence. Turning his head, Grousestar would look at her for a moment with a blank face before a light smile touched his muzzle.
"It... It is. It feels good to no longer have a nip in the air.. I've been looking forward to newleaf." Even if the topic was so simple as the weather it was.. Refreshing. It was a normal conversation. As if two warriors were talking, as if he weren't some cat that burdened everything, but the two were equals. He missed these kinds of conversations. Opening his mouth, he breathed in the scents of the territory as they strayed farther and farther from camp. Wait... What is that?
Grousestar stopped in his tracks, freezing, breathing in again. The scent was undeniable. It was... Dogs!
An uneasy chill shuddered down his spine as he traced the scent. It was recent and.. And it was heading towards camp! "We need to go back!"
