"Teach me to hunt rabbits!"

This was forward, even by Sneezepaw standards. No introduction, no... nothing. They just kind of appeared in front of Hawkfur and started yelling at him. But Sneezy knew, in their heart of hearts, that none of that extra fluff was necessary. Sneezepaw knew that long speeches and social cues didn't matter--no! It was Determination! Drive! These were all things that warriors needed, and that Sneezepaw made sure showed brightly on their face and in their tone. That was what would convince Hawkfur to give them a lesson!

So, why was Sneezepaw accosting this poor warrior, anyway? Why not the one especially chosen to put up with the apprentice's shenanigans? Rabbitfur was fine, after all, and Sneezepaw liked him well enough. He was a little confusing sometimes, but he was nice and let them go at their own pace (A.K.A. full throttle!), so he was good. But Sneezepaw was an apprentice! They were supposed to learn all kinds of things, talk to all kinds of cats, all that stuff! And they wouldn't be able to do that just by relying on one warrior.

Plus, learning from a Fury would be great! Maybe Sneezepaw would be able to pick up some ways to get ahead in the Clan. Or maybe Hawkfur would see Sneezepaw's commendable work ethic and say stuff like, You remind me of myself when I was younger, or I really think you've got what it takes to become a Fury, too, and that would be completely awesome! Of course, Sneezy already knew they were Destined For Greatness, but it couldn't hurt to hear it from someone else for a change.

So anyways that's what they decided! And they were sure that Hawkfur would be convinced by the no-named apprentice's heartfelt bid for training.

Hawkfur looked up from the mouse he was finishing, crouched under a dead bush to shelter from the wind. He hadn't even heard the apprentice approach, and their sudden shout made him brrp in surprise. "Oh! Rabbit hunting?" Delight wiggled its way into the Fury's heart, and he pushed himself to his paws, discarding the bones of his mouse. "I'd be happy to, mate! Rabbit hunting is my favorite." Everyone wanted to be tunnelers, but no one wanted to learn how to chase rabbits across the moors at incredible speeds! Sure, it might be easier than tunneling, technically, but at least they weren't stuffed in dark cramped spaces where the ceiling could just collapse on you!

Hawkfur gestured for the enthusiastic Sneezepaw to follow him out of camp. "You know how to hunt regular prey, right?" He asked. He'd happily do a regular hunting lesson too, but if Sneezepaw already knew the basics they could jump (haha rabbit pun) right into it.

Sneezepaw grinned. It was easy to see that Hawkfur was Different. He wasn't stuffy and chained to routine like some other warriors were. Spur of the moment training session in the middle of the day? No problem! Just like Sneezepaw! Well, they guessed they shouldn't be so surprised, they figured with silent satisfaction.

"Yeah, Rabbitfur--my mentor--already taught me," the apprentice chirped, trotting up alongside the Fury as they made their way out of camp. "Oh! And I'm Sneezepaw, by the way. I don't think I said that part." The appropriate time for introductions had long passed, but hey, Hawkfur might's well know what to call them (and have a name to attribute with the Incredible Skill they were sure to show that day, of course). That is, of course, unless Hawkfur already knew their name! Well, one could never be too careful.

Hawkfur chuckled at Sneezepaw's introduction, flicking his tail cheerily. "Hawkfur. Please to meet you, mate." Well, good thing Sneezepaw knew how to hunt. Meant they could get to the fun part right away!

The hills whistled as the pair traversed them, gusts of wind buffetting their fur and stinging Hawkfur's ears. The Fury kept his eyes and ears open for signs of rabbits, and he leaned over to speak to Sneezepaw, shouting over the wind. "You can hunt rabbits in and out of tunnels. If you want to learn hunting in tunnels, I suggest asking Crowtooth." There was no way in hell Hawkfur was going down there. "But up here, we can scare rabbits out of their burrows." Hawkfur chirped as he spotted a divet in the hillside, a small hole that an apprentice might be able to fit in. "Alright mate, I believe in learning on the job." He paused. "For hunting. Not for fighting. That would be irresponsible." Just to clarify things, thought it was mostly Hawkfur talking to himself to soothe his own anxiety.

Hawkfur quietly moved to the other side of the hole. "I'm going to slam my paws on the ground to startle the rabbits out. I want you to chase one down." Hawkfur's eyes twinkled. "And no worries if you miss it, mate. Rabbits are fast, and it takes practice to work up your stamina." Hawkfur's own stamina had been tanking, but that was mostly due to the abhorrent cold that gripped the moors. "Ready?"
