[takes place post-owl extermination]
she yawned leading sleekpaw out of camp, instinctively wandering towards the thunderclan border. "herondive hollow. this is the thunderclan border. remember the scent." sleekpaw did as he was told, waow! what a strange smell... oh hazycry was walking again, woops!

he ears flicked as she listened for sleekpaw behind her. he was there. good. her tail twitching with mild annoyance as she approached the riverclan border with sleekpaw. "riverclan. saltmeadow marsh. a bunch of fishes, dont mess with them, they're a bunch of thieving liars." she flicked her tail and continued on.

the windclan border. she didn't really... know much about windclan, other than the fact that shadowclan and windclan have had a history of... aggression with each other. "whispering wetlands. windclan." she didn't have much to say about them. and sleekpaw picked up on that suuuper fast, buuuuuut he didn't say anything, because hazycry kept walking! stars would she ever stop???

"we're getting into the territory now. this is dawning woods. heavy in prey, but predators frequently come here, so keep an eye and an ear out." PREDATORS??? sleekpaw was freaking out. he didn't want to die, not today! not before he was a warrior!

hazycry ignored sleekpaws sudden outburst of anxiety, and kept padding toward evergreen grotto. "watch your step, there's a lot of loose rocks and crevices you can sprain your ankle on here. this is evergreen grotto, however."

when the two arrived at darkwater mire, she stayed away from the water, far, far away. grandmother hadn't announced if whatever was in the water was dealt with, so she kept herself from the water. "stay away from the water... there's... something... in there. i'm not sure we know what it is, but..." she shuddered before speaking again "darkwater mire."

she turned and left quickly, pausing to ensure sleekpaw was still following. she need not think of her aunt and what caused her death. whatever that creature in the water was, it was evil. she was so zoned out that she almost ran into the wall of the mourning ruins. she twitched her whiskers, "mourning ruins. been a part of shadowclan territory since long before i was born." she flicked her tail for sleekpaw to follow, leading him back to camp. "thats all." she murmured.

she yawned, what a chore. as much fun as it was having an apprentice, she was quickly taught that it was repetitive. she needed something new soon. maybe she could shoot for enforcer? "sleekpaw. let's work on your stealth, alright?" sleekpaw responded with a enthusiastic nod.

"stealth stealth! i can be sneaky!" hazycry let out a soft chuckle as sleekpaw spoke, where did her own energy go? her joy, her whimsy?

"try and practice, like your hunters crouch but slower." she hadn't led sleekpaw out of camp for this one, they could do it here. "now quiet"

[sleekpaw rolled a 20!]

like his hunters crouch but slower... hmm. he lowered himself before slowly creeping forward. avoiding the puddles of mud and leaves scattered along the ground. eventually he found himself confident in his silent stride, after, hazycry piped up, "good! now try and sneak up on me."

and so sleekpaw tried. carefully mapping out every obstacle in the way, and either stepping around or over them, quietly and quickly. very soon, he snapped out of whatever smartass trance he was in, with hazycry's tail in his maw. "okay, let go. you're good. you did good."

hazycry had quickly caught a squirrel, and she padded over to sleekpaw, "sleekpaw" she swallowed. "would you like to learn flaying?"

the tom's response was an eager leap to his paws and an enthusiastic nod. "i would love to! my trainings almost done, the more i can learn the better!" sleekpaw chuckled, a genuine smile painted across his face.

"alright so..."

 

"watch carefully what i'm going to do, alright?"

firstly, she traced a circle around its rear paws, connecting it with an upside-down U shape. then, she broke off the tail, cutting around the upper paws, then a circle around the head.

when she had most of the basic slices down, she sliced across the side, and then sliced through the flesh of the squirrel, tearing the fur away from the muscle. two pieces, one larger, one smaller.

she nudged the larger piece toward sleekpaw, "for you, did you get all that?"

the tabico nodded, "yeah i did! thank you very much miss hazy!" he bounded away, leaving hazycry to eat the squirrel on her own...
