Hollyhawk yawned as he stretched out in his new nest. A purr escaping his maw as he rolled over onto his stomach before pushing himself up onto his paws. He yawned as he padded around the other sleeping warriors to exit the den. It was early but not too early, the sun was peaking over the walls of camp.

Holly walked towards the freshkill pile, scanning it carefully, he ultimately picked a rabbit and went to eat in around the outskirts of camp. His bright green gaze scanned the clearing, he noted Emberpaw in camp.

His expression remained neutral as he thought of their last interaction, a shiver of awkwardness ran down his spine, his tail tip twitching as he found his gaze locked on her.

He shifted awkwardly, taking a bite of his rabbit before chewing then swallowing. Holls took a deep breath, trying to look anywhere but in her direction, his pelt growing hot.

Emberpaw noticed Hollypaw eating a rabbit. Hollyhawk she corrected herself. She had a sudden realization that she never congratulated him for his ceremony. She padded over there, lacking her usual bounce, and gave him a small smile, which would usually be bright, but considering the past few days, it wasn't going so well for her. Hey Hollypa-Hollyhawk. She mewed, trying to sound cheerful. Congrats on your name! It's really great! She said wistfully.

Holls turned his attention to her, flashing a soft, awkward smile "oh- Hey Emberpaw- Thanks! I think my name's pretty cool- Twilightstar has pretty good taste" He said with a laugh, relaxing a bit.

The mostly white tom's tail continued to twitch behind his as he watched her carefully trying to read her. He wasn't as good at reading expressions as his mother but could sense something was off. He tilted his head but decided not to pry

"How's your training going?" He asked curiously.

Emberpaw flinched at the question. But how could Hollyhawk have known that she'd lost 2 mentors? And even if he did, its not like he'd know how it was bothering her. Fine. She lied, hoping Hollyhawk didn't notice her reaction.

He quirked a brow, he could notice a change in her general demeanor. He hadn't really been around many apprentices' other than the one he'd been assigned since becoming a warrior.

He sighed softly "That's good- Windclan's been overrun by mentors not doing their jobs- My ma' had to take care of Falls' training herself" He said with a sigh. He couldn't shake the thought of what he'd caught in her eye.

Why did she look like that?

"Are... uh-" Stars he hated dealing with emotions "Are... you okay?" He finally got the question out, looking down awkwardly at her, a nervous attempt at a reassuring smile crossed his maw.

Mousedung! She thought. Obviously he knew something was up. Well... yeah, I guess I'm ok... She mewed hesitantly. Just, a little... Confused, and disappointed at needing another mentor. She mumbled. @seeingstars

He frowned and nodded "That's fair- I'm sorry that happened. My actual mentor didn't really teach me all that much- haven't seen them in moons honestly" Holly murmured, giving the apprentice an affectionate nudge with his nose.

"If you want..." He paused, humming in thought "I could take you out to do some training-" He offered, a nervous smile plastered on his muzzle.

Emberpaw smiled shyly, and her stomach fluttered. Sure... She mewed wistfully. I'm not busy... What about hunting?

"Yeah! sure- works for me" He said, a friendly purr rising from his chest as he bounded over to the camp entrance, pausing to look back at her, making sure she was following. He had his own apprentice, but hadn't talked to her in a moment.

He should... probably fix that. Oh well- He'd just promised Ember to take her out now so he'd do that "Do you know the basics? or are we startin' with a blank slate?" Hollyhawk asked, tilting his head.

Emberpaw shook her head. I know the hunters crouch! She mewed, demonstrating her crouch. But other than that...
