raining on a raven's parade [P]

The twins had previously arranged for Caveclaw to take them on a stealth training session, and today was at long last the agreed upon day. However, as they crept out of the apprentice's den side-by-side, the heaviness that still lingered between them was palpable. Ravenpaw's fur was prickling, she felt like her skin was crawling with ants. Rainpaw hadn't spoken to her in a while...and Ravenpaw couldn't make sense of it. Despite their different goals with this lesson, Rainpaw hoping to improve to improve her stalking for hunting purposes and Ravenpaw hoping to improve her stalking for ambush purposes, they had been looking forward to training together...it had been a while since they'd spent quality time together. But here they were, walking to the camp entrance in stiff silence.

Ravenpaw wasn't the only one disturbed about the silence that hung between them. Rainpaw felt it too, but she just couldn't bring herself to face her sister. Not right now. She didn't know why exactly, she just...didn't. Couldn't. Both sisters secretly hoping this training session would help loosen the tension.

@Idiotic.Bean101 - Caveclaw - please do not feel obligated to respond to both at the same time! I just wanted to get them posted before I forget again LOL.

Caveclaw would be assisting the twins with training today.
So, she was up and moving.

She noticed they were both at the entrance.

The lykoi-mix walked over with a nod in greeting.
"Are you two ready?" She questioned "Oh, and make sure you've both eaten before we head out."

The two she-cats looked up as Caveclaw approached, both brightening somewhat right away. Even if they weren't speaking with each other, they were both excited for this training session. Ravenpaw was about to protest needing to eat first, but Rainpaw spoke up first. "I'll get us some fish." She mewed, giving Ravenpaw a cordial smile before bounding to the fresh kill and back. She returned with two small-ish fish. They should be plenty for the two of them. Rainpaw set them down between the two sisters, and each ate their fish quickly. Ravenpaw polishing it off in a few quick gulps, while Rainpaw managed to maintain some level of grace while eating quickly.

After cleaning their whiskers and disposing of the bones, the twins looked at Caveclaw and nodded in unison. "Ready." / "Ready!" They mewed simultaneously, casting awkward glances at each other.

Caveclaw waited patiently, and then nodded once again when both Ravenpaw and Rainpaw said they were ready.
She then led the way out of camp, finding a a somewhat shadowy spot in the territory to train in.

They then turned to look at the twins.
"What do you two know about stealth?" She questioned.

The twins followed Caveclaw in silence, both eager for their own reasons. Rainpaw glanced around at the area Caveclaw led them to while Ravenpaw kept her eyes on the warrior. At her question, Rainpaw turned to Caveclaw, ears and eyes alert. "Night hunting!" / "Ambushing!" They mewed at the same time, blinking at each other in surprise at how their answers differed. "Tracking!" / "Stalking!" They mewed again, once more meowed in sync though the words were different.

They looked at each other again before looking at Caveclaw, Rainpaw's eyes showing a slight tinge of embarrassment. "O-Of course stealth can be useful in combat..." She mewed, glancing at her sister as she did so. The black-and-white she-cat trying to offer a middle ground, she didn't want to commandeer her sister's training session. But then, Ravenpaw had the same thoughts, raising her tail in confidence. "But stealth is also crucial to hunting. Especially at night." Ravenpaw pointed out. The apprentices shared a helpless glance, looking to Caveclaw for the correct answer.

A lot of talking at the same time, Caveclaw may have to get used to that.
Though it was clear they were both eager to learn, which was always good.

"All of those are correct, though in different circumstances, as you said. And, knowing something about one thing can help with another." Caveclaw explained "With the knowledge of how to hunt, you can be better in battle, and with the knowledge of how to ambush in battle, you can hunt better."

She flicked her tail, thinking of how to continue.
"How well can the both of you hunt?"

The twins exchanged a glance, all of those answers were correct? Rainpaw's ear flicked thoughtfully, it made sense. One skillset led to the other. Ravenpaw wanted to excel at combat, thinking she wouldn't be a good hunter. Rainpaw didn't like conflict, preferring hunting. But both compliment the other. Rainpaw glanced at Ravenpaw again before stepping forward to answer Caveclaw's question. "I'm probably the better hunter between the two of us." Rainpaw mewed. Ravenpaw nodded grudgingly. "Yeah...Brokenstream started showing me the basics, but I've never actually hunted anything before." Ravenpaw agreed.

Caveclaw listened carefully to their answers, ear twitching.
One is better at hunting than the other.
Interesting.

"Show me your hunting crouches." She instructed.
It's time to get started now.

Both she-cats nodded. Rainpaw instinctively settled into her more practiced hunter's crouch, while Ravenpaw tentatively set her paws down. The mostly black she-cat's blue eyes checking each paw before checking her tail, then turning to Caveclaw. Ravenpaw had to visually check her stance, which she was thorough in doing, whereas Rainpaw could feel her stance much more clearly. Still, seeing her sister's thoroughness made Rainpaw's heart flicker with pride. She glanced at her paws too, second-guessing herself now, but made no adjustments. Feeling that her stance was strong.

Alright, they both had good crouches.
"Good." Caveclaw said simply, now to move on.

Next step.
"I want you both to stalk up to..." They said as they thought for a moment and glanced around, they then gestured to pebble "That pebble. It doesn't bother me which of you goes first."
