Hourglass World. [P]
Pearl loved spending time on her own. It was a part of growing up, she supposed. Being alone, living a solitary life? Of course, that wasn't the case for Pearl. Not at all. Born into a litter of eight with two overprotective parents, Pearl (rightfully, in her opinion) took whatever chance she could to squirrel away and spend some alone-time by herself, doing whatever it is she wanted to. Sometimes, it was collecting seashells and debating which was the best to bring as a gift back for her mother or father, other times Pearl flung herself into the ocean over and over again until the water was sick and tired of her and flung her back onto the shore with the force of a thousand suns.
Pearl still believed that water was a living, breathing, thinking thing. If she and siblings could live, why couldn't the water?
On this particular evening, Pearl had been repeatedly cutting through the ocean's swell of waves with the arrogance and stubbornness of a bull, no matter how many times she was spit out of the sea and back onto the sandy beach. Her father, Shark, had taught her swimming, and she wasn't going to waste a moment letting that skill dwindle and weaken. Pearl was fighter, through and through. She'd not let water overcome her.
She was in a foul mood, see, as it hadn't rained for days -- and Pearl absolutely loved thunderstorms. She delighted in them. Lightning storms, thunder racketing the ground, torrents of rain slicking the ground, the dreary grey landscape.
Well-defined muscles strained against the ocean's cruel, overpowering waves as Pearl worked against the tide for the hundredth time that day. . . and ultimately failed (just like always), letting out a choked gasp of surprise when a particularly rash wave washed over her head. Salt water trailed down her throat, burned her eyes, tossed her around in the sea. Grimacing, squeezing her eyes shut, the female spun underwater, kicking her way back to the surface and ignoring the panicked fluttering inside her chest. Panicking had never helped anybody. Certainly not her, who snuck out here onto the beach every day without letting her family know what she did.
Breaking surface, Pearl drew in a ragged gasp, crawling onto the beach, heaving and wheezing, emptying her lungs of salt water. Her fur clung to her like a second skin, dripping saltwater all over the ground beneath her. Her limbs cried with strain as she rose creakily into a stand, feeling a hundred years old, and Pearl could already tell how tired she'd be tomorrow, but every moment was worth it.
She shook out her fur much like a wet dog would and glanced up, freezing with surprise at the sight of a cat who'd not been there moments before.
[ @Apollo. - Drift | I got a little carried away, whoops. Haven't written Pearl in a good long while ]

( @Rose aaa I love your writing! )
The chilling sea spray caught in the nomads thin coat, although he was Windclan from flesh and blood he didn't exactly have the thickest fur for the weather on the moors, let alone that of the winds coming from the freezing sea. Although it was quite hot outside today he shivered, screwing his eyes shut as his pelt puffed out against the cold wind, sky and stars, it was only just the start of leaf-fall, yet somehow he was already regretting leaving the comfort of the barn behind.
Why was he here and not in the mountains? Well, for one, he decided he'd not venture too far off until next moon, that way Windclan can start holding up their side of the deal and teach him, and also, so that he could stay near Fireflame, just a little bit longer.. he hadn't seen his mother in so long that he felt like he had to stick around, it was almost like he owed her for her distress and worry. Now you may be asking, why didn't he just stay in Windclan's camp, well, thats simple, he's not and will never be a Windclan cat. Not the kind they'd want anyways. Right now he was mostly just scouting out a place to make a small den, so far he'd escaped detection from a family of badgers by the skin of his teeth, almost had a nasty run in with a Shadowclan patrol, and somehow managed to spook a Riverclan warrior's prey from across the border. Things were going great.
He doubted that he'd enjoy living by the beach, but seeing as it was the only place to have not tried to kill him or get him in an uncomfortable confrontation with a clan cat in the last eight seconds he might not have a choice.
Making his way down on the sand itself Drift couldn't help notice a little scrap of fur tossing itself into the ocean over and over again. Getting closer to the scrap it turned out to actually be a kit, who seemed to be volunteeringly throwing themselves at the crashing waves non stop, leaping into the water before being tumbled back to shore by the fast moving sea, then barely waiting a second to do it all over again. Did this kid know the definition of insanity? He watched them for a moment, this time the kit was not yeeted onto the sand but instead tugged out further and dunked by an oncoming wave.
Although bound by no code, Drift wouldn't just let a kit drown themself. There was no way he'd be able to swim out to the kit, but that didn't really seem to be an issue as by the time he had trotted down to the water line the kit had managed to resurface and make their way to dry ground. However, he wasn't sure if the kit was dumb enough to try it again, so he'd just stop them from continuing to hone their death wish. Meeting the kit's amber/green eyes he flicked his tail in greeting, "Not sure that its a good idea to keep doing that." he studied the kitten for a moment, where were their parents?
