I hate to rain on your parade…[P]

Rainypaw, Riverclan apprentice, somehow managed to get chased away from his patrol. While he was pretty sure Gingerfrost had better things to do than punish an apprentice for a missed patrol, he wanted to tell Gingerfrost why he had missed it. He didn’t accept Rainypaw into the clan to simply sit there and get fed! He accepted him to fight, patrol borders, hunt, and far too many other things to list. Rainypaw had darted away from the reeds, where the snake had showed up out of nowhere. It was a murky brown with darker, huge spots on it. It probably was exiting the water, where he had heard some noise snakes liked to swim in from time to time, despite their lack of limbs. But, despite his efforts, the creature bit his front paw. Even if it hurt, he ran over to Gingerfrost, skidding to a halt in front of him. “Hi.. Ginger..frost.” he panted, the trail of blood staining the floor where he had ran. Where he stood, head down as he fought for breath, a little pool of crimson stained his paw. He looked up at the deputy, finally having found the breath he needed to speak. “About the patrol, I’m sorry. May I please have a chance it explain?” he asked, eyes round in regret and a twinge of pain

It'd been a busy day, a million things happening a minute and on top of that one of the patrols he sent out never reported. Even worse, the apprentice he'd recently accepted into RiverClan was also a no-show, much to his irritation. But speak of the devil, here came the apprentice skedaddling to a halt at his paws. The tabby raised a curious brow, almost instantly noting the sharp scent of blood as he looked down at Rainypaw's paw. He frowned, eyes lifting up to meet the apprentice's.
"Well then?"
He mew, putting his lifted paw down as he awaited an explanation.

Rainypaw inhaled, preparing to explain. “So I was walking with Bluefang, and I heard something. I veered off to check it and see what it was. Bad move not telling Bluefang, I know, but curiosity got the best of me and I checked it out. I found out it was coming from the reeds. I sniffed at them and then of of those snakes that swim in the water sometimes popped out. It bit my paw before I had a chance to process what was happening. I ran away because I didn’t think I should be hunting with a bleeding paw. So I came here and decided to tell you before I headed to Stonepaw to help.” he said, his story coming out in a breathless huff. He panted, glancing down at the red pool beneath his right paw and then back to Gingerfrost. He awaited the deputies answer, the suspense almost crushing Rainypaw

So that's what happened. Got distracted, ran off, got hurt, ran away. Frankly, Gingerfrost was a little disappointed. He would have expected better judgement from someone his age, but alas, it seemed Rainypaw lacked the good sense to alarm Bluefang in the moment. At least it was good to know the warrior hadn't abandoned Rainypaw... Quite the opposite.
"Next time you alert the warrior on your patrol if you hear or something. Don't want this to happen again, got it? Go get this paw treated; you're to stay with the group for the coming seven sunrises."

He nodded. “Yes, sir. I won’t let you down again.” he dipped his head, scurrying off slowly. His paw didn’t make it easy. He sniffed, looking for Stonepaw and veered off to the side, remembering Stonepaw was the other way
