ShadowClan nobody to trust [p]

Aspencry

He/Him | @Rose | WC: 559

Green eyes stared intently at the ceiling of the warrior's den, squiggly lines and indeterminate shapes danced before them in the darkness, manifestations of his straining sight in the darkness. It had to be past moon-high by this time, he wasn't sure how the sun hadn't come up yet. He had laid there in this uncomfortable position for what seemed like forever. Sleep refused to come, knowing he was disobeying his usual schedule. He had hoped that for his first night in the warrior's den that he could manage to be normal, but no of course not. It didn't help that there were a lot more cats surrounding him than he was used to, smothering him in the exhaled breaths, and strangling his ears with the combined noises. His nest was fresh too, it was a little pokey and hard, not yet accustomed to his shape.

With every minute that passed his head pounded further, foggy mind struggling got grasp any thoughts other than how utterly uncomfortable he was. Until he couldn't take it anymore. He got to his feet, legs swaying with the suddenness of his movement. Awkwardly he maneuvered to the entrance, immediately relieved by the freshness of the outside air. He picked up his face to get outside of camp as if he was worried someone was going to stop him, before slowing down once far enough away. He wasn't sure what his goal was, he couldn't hunt on doctor's orders, and the territory had grown old on him a long time ago.

Eventually, he found himself laying down, a cold rock beneath him. He still wasn't far off from the clearing, sure that he could hear his sleeping comrades if he tried hard enough, he didn't. It was at the very least a lot better out here, for the first few minutes. But as he couldn't grasp any thought lines to keep him occupied, he couldn't help but to realize his surroundings. There was the very faint taste of smoke on his tongue, distant enough for him to not be worried about its origin, but enough to bother him. Bugs buzzed around his ears, landing on his pelt to try and find some skin to feast upon. Especially interested in the cuts on his face. He felt the urge to crawl out of his skin, to ditch it so he could be free of the burden of his senses.

He should be treasuring the fact that he was just made a warrior, but all he could feel was irritation, at the bugs, his clanmates, himself, the world. Who cared? He was struggling really hard to take it. He curled into a tight ball, a few soundless sobs escaping his throat, racking his whole body. He stayed in that pathetic position for a moment, releasing the pent-up emotion where no one could view him. Before sitting up, embarrassment flooded his face at how pointless it was. It was rather melodramatic for him to be so upset right now, stars what if someone saw him like this?

Awkwardly he shuffled to entertain himself by kicking some of the dirt stuck to the rock to the ground, watching it skitter away. All he felt was unsureness and an unnerving sense of impending doom. Neither of which helped to calm the ball of nerves he was in that moment.

Larkfire
She/Her | Shadow Fiend & Beefed Up (T1) Purrk

Larkfire had been watching him for a while now. It sounded weird, yeah, but Lark was nothing if not weird. She'd been silently guarding the camp exit that night (well, technically, someone else was on guard duty and Lark was intruding on their job), ever the Shadow Fiend, and imagine her shock when a very familiar warrior ambled past without taking notice of her.

Whether it was Aspencry's lack of attention-span on this particular night, or Larkfire own recent fuse with the shadows, who knew. Either way, she couldn't help but abandon her post to trail after him -- after giving the other guard a cursory nod, of course.

So now, Larkfire sat a little ways away, watching Aspencry in silence as he seemed to have an internal war with himself. She was probably not invited to see this. Heck, she would have hidden from the world too if she was feeling that way. But Lark couldn't make herself leave, either. Instead, she surprised herself. She stood, first thinking of turning and slinking off the way she'd come, but her paws carried her the other way. Within moments, Larkfire found herself peering down at her denmate, bewilderment and concern swirling in her amber hues.

"Are you okay... Aspen..."
She didn't quite want to say Aspencry, because that was a little too on the nose there, considering the fact that her denmate was in an emotional state. "Aspenaspen." She finished lamely in the end, realizing that her newfound denmate could easily interpret her words wrong and thing that she wasn't calling him his warrior name on purpose.

[ @nykyrian - Aspencry | This post ... was not wording. I've literally been looking forward to this roleplay, but every time I open this thread nothing comes to mind, wheh. So sorry about the delay :,) ]
