Pearnose had no motivation for anything recently; not when everyone who had once lived her were disappearing. There was barely any reason to keep trying.
But then there was Flamepaw.
He didn't deserve a lackluster mentor. He didn't deserve the lack of training and attention that she'd given him. He didn't deserve
her. So despite every thought in her head screaming not to, she dragged herself out of the warriors den, away from the nest where she spent most of her time, trying to keep herself from thinking back to Batflight and the days they used to cuddle and play together.
"Flamepaw!" The gray she-cat called, standing in the clearing and waiting for the young apprentice. "I know it's pretty late, but we're going to go on a territory tour." She meowed, trying to seem as enthusiastic as possible, contrasting her usual moodiness.
She wanted to try for him. She wanted to put effort into Flamepaws training. Maybe because she didn't want him to end up like her.
