Oh for the love of stars. More cats started whining and complaining about this and that, and Dusklion was doing her best to not snap at them. Even with their current frosty state, she held a lot more respect for her brother than she'd ever held with Birdsnow (or any other cat, for that matter, even Lions and Fury and Bitey) so she would listen and just... hold her tongue.

When Fades started up again, he made quick work of handling every cat who had spoken out of turn; including her. She simply returned his warning glance with a huff and averting her own eyes. Yeah, yeah. What joy her brother must feel now in being able to actually order her around more than before. Dusklion flattened her ears but didn't say anything more. She'd have to check in with him it seemed like - what interruptions she could and couldn't handle, because at this point she wasn't sure if it was just the Birdsnow thing or how she'd dealt with both Redmire and Owltalon. Sue her for trying to help.

The next string of announcements weren't anything to respond to - except for well, Dusk's utter shock at this side of her brother. She hadn't known it at all, like he had kept it concealed. She had never once pictured him the leader type - or, he had never told her. Either way it frustrated her, and reminded her briefly of the betrayal she'd felt during the last meeting. They had yet to talk about it, and now he was leader.

What did catch her ear was Mists being announced as the Clan's medicine cat. All the cats who came up to congratulate her made Dusklion want to laugh, but she would keep her rather harsh opinions on that matter to herself. What she did notice is the way Cobs slunk off, and Minkpaw darted from camp out of the corner of her eye. Seriously? Dusklion flashed a look to her brother, one brow raised, as if to say 'this alright?' before glancing over the crowd.

"Fallenwish, go fetch Minkpaw. Don't know what kind of fit she's throwin', but 'paws aren't allowed outside of camp." She'd go after the apprentice herself, but right now she was the only Lionheart left in camp. She was then about to settle back when when another cat speaking caught her attention. Could she say anything? This cat hadn't been seen in camp for the last half moon, and now she was just here? At a meeting? Casting her gaze from Thunderchaser, Dusklion lifted it towards her brother and gave a subtle nod. He surely would see this, right?

Redmire continued to spit venom as the warrior was escorted out of camp, but Fadingsun paid no heed to the words. His focus was on Mistyshard, a smile spreading across his face as she accepted the position and promised to serve the Clan well. She’d proven herself worthy of this position over the past few moons, so he had little doubt - especially with Fawnlight’s visit added - that she was the right choice.

He was rather surprised that nobody stepped forward to protest his decision. He knew Mistyshard was fairly well-liked among her Clanmates, but given RiverClan’s history surely someone must have some words they felt absolutely compelled to say. Still, he certainly wouldn’t complain.

His attention was caught by separate outbursts from both Minkpaw and Cobwebpaw. Cobwebpaw retreated to a corner, while Minkpaw full-on ran out of camp. Irritation flashed within the leader at that; Minkpaw was too old to be having that kind of outburst. He had a feeling it had to do less with being upset over Mistyshard specifically and more over not getting medicine cat herself. Either way, it wasn’t an acceptable reaction from someone her age.

Dusklion had the Minkpaw situation handled, sending Fallenwish after the apprentice. He gave her a nod of approval; as much as she could be hot-headed and put herself into situations she shouldn’t, she was an attentive and quick-to-act cat. That was why she made such a good Head Lionheart, despite the couple of bumps they’d experienced in the road.

With that handled, they could move on. Addressing the whole Clan again, he said, “I want to make it clear that going forward, all healing matters are to be handled by Mistyshard. If she is unavailable, then you go to Marigoldleap. I do not want to see warriors and apprentices handling healing matters. Your focus should be on your own duties. If Mistyshard needs help, she will ask. I appreciate those of you who have shown care for your Clan over the past couple of moons, but we have a dedicated healer for a reason.”

Cobwebpaw and Minkpaw had both fallen behind in their warrior training because of how much time they’d been spending on herbs and healing. While Fadingsun appreciated the sentiment, it was time for them to focus on their warrior training. Both of them were long overdue for warrior ceremonies.

“Now, on to the last major matter for this meeting: apprentices. We have quite a few reassignments that need to happen, so pay attention in case your name is called.” Hopefully he wouldn’t forget anyone; this was his first time doing this, so the nerves were creeping up.

“With Birdsnow as sick as she is and Mistyshard moving to the rank of medicine cat, their apprentices need reassigning. Berrypaw, you’re with Pepperbounce. Lilacpaw, you’re with Fognettle. I’ll be taking over Rainpaw’s training, while Owltalon will be continuing with Cormorantpaw’s. Tulippaw, Rabbitpaw, and Wolfpaw, your mentors haven’t been present around camp at all recently. For that reason, you’ll be getting new mentors.

“Tulippaw, you’re with Berryflare. Rabbitpaw, you’re with Seabreeze, and Wolfpaw, you’re with Goldfish. In addition, we have a couple of apprentices who lack mentors or whose mentors were never properly noted, for whatever reason. If you were a warrior mentoring one of these apprentices, come speak to me and I’ll get you a new apprentice as quickly as possible. Adderpaw, your training will be continuing with Ashstream. Cloudheart, whenever Minkpaw returns, tell her that you’ll be her new mentor.”

Now, on to the kits due for a ceremony. “We have a few kits who are ready to begin their apprenticeships. Before that, however, we have two Sunkits within this Clan. As such, one of them needs to be re-named. From this moment on, Sunkit (@/Yoshdo) will be known as Rainingkit. Mousekit, Dimkit, Ravenkit, and Branchkit, please step forward.”

He stepped forward smiling to himself as he awaited being named an apprentice, he wondered who his mentor would be… he wanted them to be a good mentor, someone strong who would teach him well! And battle and hunting training was priority.

Tulippaw couldn't help but feel salty about the reassignment. She couldn't help but feel salty about everything. She guessed that Beanfloat finally decided to leave her too. That was just fine. It was about time anyway. She was stupid to believe that he actually cared about her. But now he was gone. Just another brother that would be around to haunt her mind as her own personal ghost.

Lucky her.

Her tail lashed as her claws dug into the ground. It hurt so bad to think that her other brother would leave her too. First Fogkit. Now Beanfloat. She thought everything was finally getting better. But now things only seem to be getting worse
Hollyflight. Beanfloat. Fogkit. It really didn't seem like she had anybody.

No.

That's not true.

She had Strawberrypaw.

And maybe soon she'd have this... Berryflare too.

So she sheathed her claws and looked around for Berryflare. Hopefully she'd learn something this time. Hopefully she could be a great apprentice and rekindled those dreams she of being a warrior that she once clung to so dearly.

"I don't think I... Eh whatever.." Adderpaw started to speak to herself before flicking that thought off with her ear. Really it didn't matter since she was going to talk to Fadingsun after this meeting anyways. She looked around and waited for her short lived mentor to come over to her or not. She was just going to sit in her spot for now, she still needed to hide her red eyes after crying after all.

God- no- anyone but her. Wrenpaw scowls hard in Lilacpaw's direction, hoping she'd leave her alone. Also, Wrennie??? Seriously??? What kind of nickname was that???? No way. Nuh uh. Nope. Wren wouldn't give her the time of day. She's nothing more than an annoying flea on her pelt and that's it. Nothing more, nothing less. Pointedly, Wrenpaw glares at Lilacpaw then turns her attention away again, focusing on the meeting as the kits waiting to be apprenticed step forward.

That was settled. Stickpaw could go back to jumping up and down now. Hm. Birdfoot was still here or not? Stickpaw couldn’t get a proper visual of her friend. Brown pelted cat leaves the apprentice den but sticks near Cobwebpaw. Is she needed someone again then he was there. “Pssst….” A giggle leaves their mouth. She simply wouldn’t stop annoy cats today! No-one was safe! “We should prank Fadingsun…. He seems down so why not lift his silly spirits?” She whispers, her giggles developing into full on muffled laughter. Oh yeah! They could totally get away with it in the future.

PepperBounce had arrived late to the meeting. One quick glance up and he felt his stomach drop, why wasn’t BirdSnow up there? It took him more then a moment to catch on to what exactly was happening and thunderstorm of emotions strikes him. BirdSnow stepped down? Some cat was not meant to be here- less surprising but still brought a miniature wave of shock. And he was given an apprentiice.
Given.. an apprentice? Well, that thunderstorm was about to feel pretty pathetic at the pure horror he held knowing that he’d be responsible for some cats future. Whether or not they actually get themselves trained was up to him and it was shattering to feel all that weight on him as if a particularly heavy stone had been slammed onto him and left there. He more then knew that it wasn’t the smartest thing to look gobsmacked in public at such an everyday occurrence but who was to blame him? He only hed no worthy skill and couldn’t fight if his life was at stake. Oh! And to add on, he was physically incapable of teaching! He could barely get past the thought of training someone and know he’d have to. Great. ‘Starclan’ sure loves shoving things in his face at the worst times.

At the very least he found himself seafching for GoldFish to give his congratulations on terms of getting an apprentice, although he did hope it didn’t weigh too much on her loss of her last apprentice. PepperBounce connected the dots and realised if he wasn’t careful he’d be responsible for a defective apprentice and their death. Couldn’t getting someone to train get at least goven to someone else? Of course it’s not as if he could simply.. deny having an apprentice. Okay. Get yourself together Pepper! You’re only going to ruin some youths life and your reputation it can’t be that bad. His attempt to find GoldFish abandoned he instead searched for the apprentice he was meant to train. What if everything went sour and he ended up neglecting their training? Stars that’d look horrible in him but it would only stomp him down more- was it better to fail or to avoid failure?

GarlicFeather listened on and did feel a slight stab of embarrassment he hadn’t noticed that ThunderChaser wasn’t meant to be here, but that wasn’t his job to feel guilty about. Along with guilt he felt an ittby bitty swell of pride from his judgement of the warrior and stretched out as he listened to the rest, reassignments.. some hairball got a new apprentice.. GarlicFeather paused his stretch to glance around. That stinkin’ rat of a cat had gotten an apprentice? Yikes, stars save whomever it was that was stuck with. And he could bet his life that they’d be facing some quivering incapable mentor, perhaps the mix of anger and pity weren’t the best but nonetheless what else was he to do? Simply accept it? Yeah, sounded ‘bout right. He purposefully made his way over and muttered a quiet congratulations before slinking away. Not even the stars could cure his hatred of that sniffling furballl.

Taking a deep breath, he arose from where he had been sitting and shook his pelt, glancing over at his friend, Mousekit. He had been getting a bit stiff, perhaps from the slight nervousness and the abundance of excitement and energy. Taking a deep breath, he stepped up towards where Fadingsun stood, upon the Floodstone, and looked but towards the leader intensely. His eyes were bright and his fur puffed up briefly, he thought, ’Finally, start of apprenticeship…’
