Willowtail woke up, stretching while her thoughts wandered...... Nightshadepelt still laid before her, his dark fur ruffled from his sleep. Willowtail licked Nightshadepelt's ears affectionatly, "Wake up handsome" She purred gently to him, deciding to be sweet sense it was the morning. "Come eat breakfast with me" Willowtail meowed, padding out to grab a fish for them to share, as she walked up she spotted Stagheart, bounding over she headbutted her adoptive fathers shoulder. "Stagheart! I have someone to introduce you to!" Willowtail purred, her blue eyes wide. "But before I do, promise to be nice." Willowtail meowed, her eyes meaningful as she meant his gruff tone and usually dismissive (in her eyes) demenor. Willowtail blinked up at her adoptive father, nudging him and playfully bouncing away to lead him towards Nightshadepelt.

The tom woke up, groaning slightly. He stood up and stretched out each limb. After fully stretching, he made his way outside the den. Green eyes locked onto his mate and Stagheart. So that's who her father was? Intimidating. He shuddered slightly and went to go get something to eat. Preferably a vole, but he'd eat anything. He kept his tail low, he was nervous about meeting his mates father. Really nervous. He couldn't shake the feeling of impending doom.

Stagheart was casually grooming between his ears when he saw Willowtail exit the warrior's den, bounding over with a happier-than-usual glint to her eye. Tilting his head curiously, the large tom lowered his paw and listened to her words, eyes narrowed in thought.
"Nice, huh? Ain't no promise like that I can make," he huffed, though there was a dry, goodnatured humor to his tone, always having a soft spot for Willowtail. He rose to his paws anyway, padding out after the small warrior, curious as to who she was going to introduce him to.
As Willowtail led him to Nightshadepelt, Stagheart came to a stop, tilting his head in a silent question. He sized up the tom — a warrior he'd never really seen around much, maybe here or there. The older, larger, and scarred tabby tom peered down at him with piercing blue eyes, ones that were unreadable in emotion, simply... studying. He finally let out a huff through his nose and glanced at Willowtail, silently asking her to explain or introduce. She looked... rather excited, and Stag didn't quite know what all the hullabaloo was about, but here he was. As gruff and unreadable as always until he chose to show some emotion.

"...Mate?" Stagheart echoed incredulously, as if making sure he'd heard right. But with their serious gazes (and Nightshadepelt looking rather terrified, fear-scent coming off him in waves), he realized... it was true. They were mates. His stark blue eyes widened a bit, the only thing portraying an emotion, flicking between the two cats.
Then Stag narrowed his eyes slightly, as if scrutinizing the tom, an interested huff leaving as a rumbly sound from his chest. He sized him up again, a mixture of protectiveness and surprise making him stall for silence.
"Mate, huh..." He repeated, a small hum behind his words, deep in thought before he fully turned to face Nightshadepelt. "Hmm... uh, good to met ya, too. Haven't seen you around much before. You, uh... how long you 'n Willowtail been... together?"
He asked, a bit blunt and awkward, though there was no malice. Merely curiosity and a need to know the details, to figure out who this new guy was that was interested in his adoptive daughter. And he couldn't make it too easy for the others to know exactly what he was thinking, being a bit intimidating with the whole thing. Y'know... fatherly things.

I love her for her personality. Though I do have to admit that she is also quite beautiful and has wonderful eyes." He became extremely formal. Nightshadepelt was shaking. Though he kept up eye contact.

Stagheart listened silently and inquisitively as Nightshadepelt went on, his piercing blue eyes betrayed nothing as he sized him up, listened to his formal, detailed (yet quite endearing, admittedly) ramble... before he could comment, there was a beat of silence with Willowtail shushing him with her long tail.
Stag let out a long sigh, his gaze flicking Nightshadepelt up and down for another moment, as if trying to assess him. Then the slightest knowing smirk twinged his maw.
"Mmm, I see... I can tell y'care for her a lot," he mused, glancing between Willowtail and Nightshadepelt. He stood to his paws and padded calmly over to the tom, looming in side as he peered down at him, cocking his head as if in thought.
"You plan on... protectin' her, son? With your life, if need be? Doin' all you can for her?" He inquired in his gruff drawl, not as much as an interrogation but certainly some sort of test to see how vehemently the mate responded, still looking rather unreadable.

The tom seemed surprised at the next question. "Yes sir, I intend on protecting her even if that means I have to die. I intend to take care of her to the best of my ability. If she is hungry, I will bring her prey from the fresh-kill pile. If she is cold, I will move closer to her so that she is warm." He continued looking the much older tom in the eyes.
"And if you really would like, sir. I'd like to help you, too. If you ever need something I'd be more than happy to bring it to you. I'd even lay my life on the line for you, as well. Though you are definitely more experienced than I am, I would still do so."
With that, Nightshadepelt glanced over to Willowtail. His eyes flickered back to Stagheart's gaze. He didn't exactly know what the older tom was thinking. He tried to calm his nerves the best he could, so he put on a soft smile. He hoped the smile would quell any suspicion that might be brewing.
