Seabreeze stepped out from the medicine den after making sure that his apprentice was settled before padding out into the clearing in search for the nearest high rank for the situation and his eyes landed on Fadingstar. The lionheart made his way over to the leader calling out to him gently, but his tone of voice was serious, knowing that this would be his first time needing to actually punish one of his own apprentices. It was scary, but what had just occurred on that patrol warranted at the very least a talking to but he wanted to talk to someone about if more should be done to prevent this from happening again. "Fadingstar, I have something I need to ask you about. I had a situation on the patrol that I was sent on with both my apprentices by Dusklion, and you were the first high rank I saw after getting Covepaw settled in the medicine den, so I am talking with you."
He sighed before kicking off the conversation by explaining everything first and then ending with his question, "While out on a hunting patrol, Covepaw had pounced for a mouse and ended up with a strange, clear thorn-like thing in his paw. It didn't seem to hurt him much more than a regular thorn but I didn't recognize it and so I wanted to be cautious. Going to clean it and get a good look and then decide if I could remove it so we could walk more comfortably to the med den or if it would be better to walk back with it in to get more expert eyes on the matter... though, Duckpaw took my moments of deciding to instead go ahead with playing medicine cat. He ripped the clear thorn from Covepaw's paw and then attempted to throw moss on it, when Covepaw reasonably started to cry out and me panic because things were going very wrong, Duckpaw scolded Covepaw and the attempted to throw more moss and cobwebs on the wound.. I... admittedly lost my temper and told Duckpaw to sit away for a moment while I calmed Covepaw enough to bring him in to the medicine den...."
"All that is to say, I feel that for the act of endangering a clan mate, in both furthering an injury and potentially risking faulty herbal knowledge that could've ended with Covepaw even more hurt, I think some punishment is in order. I just don't know what, I don't have much experience in giving them out, I want your and Dusklion's opinion on the matter."

Tail twitching indignantly as he padded into camp, Brokenstream headed straight for Dusklion. He didn’t like having to do this, but she had to learn. ”Dusklion,” He mewed coolly, but the his eyes clearly gave away his annoyance. ”My apprentice, Catfishpaw, didn’t seem to accompany me on our border patrol, so I finished it solo. Please let me know what you would like to do.” His sharp green gaze glanced around, wondering if she had even left this spot.

Brokenstream is RiverClan’s Head Lionheart - If You Need Him, Mention Me
Fadingstar was finishing with his grooming for the day after returning from an early solo patrol through the territory. As he looked up, his eyes met Seabreeze's as he approached. He perked his ears as Seabreeze informed him that he had an issue to report.
He wasn't certain why the Lionheart was coming to him and not Dusklion, since this was her jurisdiction. But given that Dusklion had plenty to do when it came to hearing other reports and dealing out punishments, Fadingstar supposed he'd handle this. He wasn't happy about it, though; hopefully she wouldn't bite his ears off again like with Thunderchaser.
As the leader listened to Seabreeze explain the situation, his frustration at being involved turned into anger at Duckpaw. Granted, she was just a kid, but one that was old enough to know better than to do that. Or, at least she should know better.
While Covepaw's life didn't sound like it had been put in danger by Duckpaw's actions, if this sort of behavior wasn't nipped in the bud immediately it could spiral into something more concerning. Fadingstar wasn't certain why the apprentices in the Clan were suddenly trying to play healer; did it have something to do with Mistyshard's lack of presence around the Clan lately?
Whatever the reason, it needed to stop. He wasn't going to have lives potentially endangered by apprentices who felt they knew better than the Clan's healers.
"You were right to handle it the way you did," he said after the Lionheart had finished reporting. "Duckpaw is still a child, but she ought to know better than that. If she can't handle herself appropriately in situations like that, then she isn't ready to be an apprentice.
"Go tell Duckpaw that she's confined to camp for a quarter moon. During that time, I want her doing chores around the camp. I also want her apologizing to Covepaw, and I want you to be there to ensure it's a sincere apology. Tell Duckpaw that if anything like this happens again, she'll be demoted to kit for a moon. I'm not playing around with safety, especially kids' safety."
The leader rose, preparing to depart for his den. "If she fights you on it, go ahead and demote her for however long you see fit. The youth in this Clan have started running wild as of recent, and I'm not having it. I appreciate you coming to me, but in the future if there are any issues with patrols please speak to Dusklion first."
Before he left, the leader gave Seabreeze an approving nod. "You're doing a good job as a mentor, Seabreeze. Keep it up."
[ These are the terms for Duckpaw's punishment that you can pass on: She's confined to camp until August 9. During the next week, Duckpaw needs to make at least two posts of her doing chores around camp, like changing out nests, babysitting kits, tidying up the dens, etc. Each post needs to be at least 50 words to count. When these posts are complete and August 9 has arrived, have her come speak to Seabreeze. ]

Dusklion - RiverClan Deputy
Spotting the first of the patrols returning, Dusklion turned her attention to Brokenstream. The annoyance in his expression was easily read and the deputy prepared herself to hear what had gone wrong on the border patrol. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as she had thought (i.e. a fight with their neighbors). But this was still frustrating. "Thanks for reportin' back, 'n lettin' me know about Catfishpaw. I'll see about talkin' to her. Everythin' good border-wise?" At least he had finished the patrol, which was good. It meant that it was marked and she didn't have to worry about going out again to mark it.

Dusklion - RiverClan Deputy
There was still three patrols left to report in. Glancing up from her spot she watched as Seabreeze popped out of the medicine den - she must've missed him initially coming back - and got to her paws to flag him over when he... headed over to Fades instead. Confusion blanketed her features as she watched. Her ears angled forward to listen, catching most of the report. Why wasn't he reporting to her? Swallowing the deputy stood where she was, looking to what her brother would say while her heart started to speed up in her chest. It seemed that Covepaw had gotten hurt due to Duckpaw's actions - the deputy assumed this is why the patrol, or Seabreeze, wasn't carrying any prey.
...Okay, so he was handling it. Any anger at her brother that would've come forward was forced back down, leaving a bitter taste on her tongue. What normally would've ended in a scathing remark from her only got a nod to both cats, figuring that her word wouldn't be needed since Fades had already issued a punishment. She didn't miss how he asked the Lionheart to report to her next time, and a part of her wanted to retort to not bother; if her Clanmates still saw her as nothing more than a border murderer, then they could go report their patrols to Fades. If Seabreeze wanted to report to Fades and not her, that was... fine. She couldn't necessarily stop him, but to say it hadn't surprised her was an understatement. He... they were okay right?
Nerves tingled her paws and the deputy turned away and sat down, facing away from the two cats so they couldn't see the brief hurt that flashed in her gaze and waited for the other patrols to report. Her jaw was set in a hard line as she glanced towards the medicine den, making a note to go check on Covepaw after everything was reported in.
[ i sincerely apologize for dusk, please know that her thoughts/actions do not represent my own. i had a bit of a hard time struggling on how to write her because of trying to keep her IC while also working around the fact that IC she would've been in camp when seabreeze reported and noticed him reporting to fadingstar and not her. again i apologize for her thoughts /w\ ]
Vole hanging limply in his jaws, Falconflight padded wearily up to the fresh kill pile and flung his catch with the rest of the prey. That done he scanned the clearing for Dusklion and soon found her "Hey, hunting patrol done, caught a vole. Hope that's all good 'cause I don't really want to go out there again." He muttered, too bothered to not be honest. He'd already forgotten about the whole Beaverpaw not knowing how to hunt thing anyway, he didn't even look back to se if the apprentice was with him.
Next up to report was one of the hunting patrols. Angling her ears to listen to Falconflight, Dusklion scrunched her nose up in annoyance at his obvious aversion to going out again to hunt. "What are you, a 'paw who got scolded? It's a warriors duty to hunt for the Clan, 'n if you're needed to go out again you will." The deputy didn't bother to hide the sharp annoyance in her tone as she narrowed her eyes, glancing between the two. Whitethunder wasn't with them, so she assumed they hadn't caught anything. Figured, for an outsider who hadn't seemed to make a lot of effort to be apart of the Clan. After a beat she flicked her tail dismissively, letting both the warrior and apprentice know they were dismissed.
Eveningthaw gave a grunt of approval to Ryesong and Redwater, tilting his head up slightly as he gave StarClan ultimate gratitude for the haul they had gathered. Aloud, and under his breath he murmured, "Thank StarClan for blessing us with a bountiful hunt. The night is clear and bright."
Momentarily addressing Ryesong, the faintest hint of an amused smirk painting his wry expression, Eveningthaw commented coolly; "Good, but never good enough, my dear friend."
After sparing a cursory lick to his chest fur, he addressed his patrolmates, "Very good, very good. A nice haul that will feed many good cats. Lets get back to camp." He hummed, dipping his head to scoop up his prey. With the mighty raptor in his jaws by the throat and the other morsels dangling by their tails secured in his powerful bite, he turned towards camp and lead his way with head high.
Trotting into camp with his convoy at his heel, the warrior reported in to his deputy, chin upturned proudly.
"Reporting in. We've collected quite a bit of prey for the clan. I caught a hawk, two mice and two vole; I fear that the prey bird activity might be dangerous to smaller apprentices and warriors." He added, almost as an afterthought. If they were small enough and stupid enough to get picked up by a bird of all things, perhaps they deserved to be carried off. RiverClan certainly didn't need them.
He stepped aside to deposit his prey in the pile and let the other two report in their bounty.
Ah, here came the Goat King. Appraising his catch with a raised brow, Dusklion had almost expected to see him dragging in another one. But no, this time it was a hawk. Still rather impressive, especially considering that there were also four other fresh morsals to go along with it. "I can see that," the deputy grunted with a half-smirk, leaning forward to nose the feathers of the bird. Her ear flicked at his comment about it being a danger and she nodded. She had noticed them too, circling the skies much more frequently than back in their normal territory. "At least we haven't had that happen yet." Which was a good thing, but still the deputy made a note to be vigilant about it. "Good haul. You keep this up 'n soon I'll expect you to bring home a coyote or fox," she joked with a grin, flicking her tail to dismiss them.
Duskleaf padded back into camp with his head lowered a bit, he just hoped one of the other patrols had brought back more positive news. Making his way over to Fadingstar, this wasn’t a report he was looking forward to giving.
"Fadingstar…I'm sorry, we couldn't find Dusklion or any evidence she'd been there." He glanced around to see if any of the other patrols were here as well, but none of them seemed to have any better news to report. "I'm sorry…" He repeated.
(This is set during the same day Dusklion went missing!)
"You'll take the high road and I'll take the low road
And I'll be in Scotland before ye
Where me and my true love shall never meet again
On the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond!"

With a sigh, Brokenstream nodded. "All good. Not a sign of any outsiders and nothing to show that our Clanmates have disrespected the border." He mewed with a sniff. "As for Catfishpaw, she's a good kid. Excitable. Don't be too harsh on her." He said with a slight frown. He worried a scolding from the deputy herself might crush the young cat's spirit. But yet a soft purr broke from the back of his throat. "Sorry, I worry about her. That's all. I'm sure you have it under control."
