Tuskclaw stood at the edge of the clearing, with Russetkit standing before her. She was attempting to teach him the basics of the hunting crouch; she felt it was important for her son to know a few things before his training started.
"Make sure your wait is even," she told him gently. "So you aren't leaning too heavily on one paw or the other."
The large tabby she-cat demonstrated the crouch once again for the kitten. Russetkit nodded enthusiastically and tried to mimic it.
"Look, see! They're all even!" he squeaked triumphantly. His little tail stuck straight up in the air.
"That may be true," Tuskclaw purred, "but your tail would give you away! When hunting, it needs to be down low, but not too low . . . You don't want it dragging on the ground."
Russetkit pulled his tail down, and it brushed the ground. "Whoops," he mewed, and then it shot back up in the air the way it had been a moment before. He gave his mother a am I doing it right? look.
Tuskclaw smiled. "You're doing very well, Russet. Why don't we pretend . . ." The she-cat sat back on her hunches and pawed a pinecone over. "Pretend this is a mouse, a really juicy mouse. See if you can catch it!"

After about half an hour of the playful training, Russetkit was getting tired, and a little bored. So, Tuskclaw led him to the prey pile to get some food before a nap.
Rottenheart is sitting under a willow, his expression stern and cold as he licked his paw, minding his own bussiness. Doesn't seem he would appreciate being spoken to.

Squirrelwhisker was approaching the spotted black tabby, her voice soft as she called out the warrior´s name. The thick-furred she-cat gave a wave of her tail as she sat down beside her Clanmate.
´´Is everything alright?´´ She mumbled softly.

Alerted by her clanmate's voice, Darkcloud's head snapped towards Squirrelwhisker as she sat down beside her. "Darkcloud, are you alright?" What a strange question...hardly anyone asked her it so why was this cat they barely knew the one to bring it to attention. Was she alright? A rare query indeed...truth be told, she wasn't sure herself but she couldn't just say that, could she?
"Of course, I'm fine." The dark she-cat answered rather bluntly, amber hues staring cooly at the thick-furred warrior. Grief could be hidden by a facade of confidence but in Darkcloud's case it was her almost permanent lack of emotion that made it easy to hid her feelings. What would she get in response? Would they just leave? She hoped so.
"I was wondering.. if you can help me and my apprentice, Rainpaw tour Shadowclan. I'm not too familiar with the territory myself." She gulped as she spoke the last sentence. "The name's Amberfern." She mewed quietly, her nerves getting the better of her. "My only other outing was a herb patrol with a named Sharpfrost and an apprentice named Eggpaw.. I think?" Amberfern sighed a bit. She was a warrior, she was supposed to have nearly everything figured out but she didn't and she blamed herself heavily for it.

It was true! Rainpaw's hunch was correct. Her mentor didn't know the territory either! Lynxshade seemed capable though. She really hoped the Enforcer would agree to help. Her blue eyes were almost pleading as she stared at the Enforcer eagerly. More than anything, she just wanted her training to get started.
Silverpaw looked at the warrior, and his lip curled in disgust. "What are you doing? Floping down like that? You look so undignified!"

Silverpaw tossed his head. "Well, I've been training! And at least when I rest, I don't flop on my belly! Aren't Shadowclan cats supposed to be more mysterious and dignified, not belly-flopping cats? Or kits who are weaklings? Or other apprentices who get caught doing stuff they aren't supposed to? Shadowclan is full of cats who don't belong here!"
