Thrushkit glanced around at her siblings and heaved a quiet sigh in her little chest. She’d have to be the one to speak up won’t she? She looked Bumblestar in the eyes, a spark of a fire in her gaze, and nodded determinedly. “Yes. We’ve all agreed to take on new names. Fresh start and all that.” Plus, every time they heard their names called it just reminded them of the terrible events at the last meeting…
“I want to be named Sunrise. Like a new day.” She declared, puffing her little chest out proudly. Thrushkit looked around at her siblings, beckoning them to speak up on what they wanted their names to be.
The young tom-kit nodded his head, yes they were here to change names he - he didnt want the name that was given to him by his... what should he call her? mother, a monster? He didn't know and he didn't want to think of it. Focusing his gaze on his sisters ords saying she wanted to be called 'sunrise like a new day' , it sounded nice hawk didn't have a proper reason to change his name to what he picked he just liked the name, turning his gaze back to bumblestar he spoke "I would like my new name to be hailkit" he meowed slightly.

Starlingkit shot a look at her littermates as they spoke, eyes narrowing. She hadn't quite given much thought in her own name change, having found no reason to spend time on something like such. Thrushkit had chosen a decent name. Sunrise. Like a new day... Hm. Corny.
"Horizon for me." she muttered, tail curling around her paws as she sat. She'd overheard some apprentices and warriors talk about the beautiful horizon ahead, always there whether it was sunrise or sunset. Also, it sounded cool.
Please feel free to bump me on any ongoing RPs. I have ADHD and it gets really hard for me to keep track of all my RPs ^^

Oh, the apprentice who'd needed a name change. Bumblestar lifted her head to blink at him as he stepped into her den. Why did everyone who came by here think she was going to bite them or something? "What's up?"

He stepped towards her. "Uhh... well wanted to talk to you about my name." He forced a small smile. "I uhm... would like it changed." HE felt a little bad for asking. She was the one who gave it to him. "I feel like Sunsetpaw would fit me better."
Sunflowerpaw´s large form stopped at the entrance to the den of the ThunderClan Leader, her ears twitching nervously. Would she be getting Violetfreckle in trouble with her mate?
Shaking her head and pushing away all negative thoughts, the golden-and-cream mackerel tabby made her way in the den, relieved to find Bumblestar lying in her nest. ´´Bumblestar,´´ Sunflowerpaw mewed, her amber eyes glittering in the gloominess. ´´I would like to request a reassignment. Violetfreckle hasn´t be training me much..´´
Bumblestar curled her tail, eyes narrowing. "Absolutely nothing is wrong with you," she practically bit out, "'n if anyone's ever tried to insinuate that to you, you give me a name 'n I'll go handle it right now. Yeah, you smell a little bit different, but that's not a bad thing, 'n it doesn't dictate what you go by. Is there somethin' specific you want to go by?"

Nothing was wrong with her. When Bumblestar said these words, it was as if a heavy weight was lifted off of her chest – kinda. She had been so worried about the chance that something was wrong with her, that she was completely blindsided by the next question. She’d always referred to herself as a she-cat, but what if others didn’t see her that way? Did everyone who looked at her think she was a tom? She was conflicted, unsure of what direction she should go or what she should call herself – much less what other people should call her.
Sure, it made her a bit sad and maybe uncomfortable when people referred to her as “he”, but if she didn’t quite smell right, how could she blame them? What did Mommy and Daddy think of her? Did they see her as a she-cat, or had they seen her as something different – an enigma that doesn’t quite fit with everyone else.
Gosh! This was hard! Shaking her head, she stared down at her paws. ”I– I don’t know,” She said in a meek voice. They were never one to be too particularly outspoken, but in this case, she didn’t know what her heart wanted. They didn’t know how their feelings were aligned. They just wanted to be accepted – by their family, but also the clan as well.
Eyes hesitantly flicking upwards, she glanced at the small-framed leader before her. ”I… How did you choose?” She asked. Bumblestar had mentioned that being a tom hadn’t felt right to her, but this was confusing. She liked Timberpaw, but that’s usually what toms did right? Feeling some sort of affection for she-cats and all, right? So what… what did that make her? Should she refer to herself as a tom in order to fit with the norm? But wait, Bumblestar called herself a she-cat and she seemed close to Violetfreckle so what... Goodness this was so confusing. Swanpaw felt like all this thinking was going to make her head spin and fall off. Just how did things like this work?

"Alright. Not knowin' is fine. I didn't really figure it out 'till a while later, anyway."
Bumblestar settled down into what was mostly a loaf, one hind leg still outstretched as she tilted her head at Swanpaw. "My story's probably a bit... outta the ordinary, I guess you could call it," she started. "Several moons back, when ThunderClan was really strugglin’, I got into some trouble. Was out at the border by myself as an apprentice ‘n got picked up by some Twolegs, brought to a nest. They had this little white gnat of a kit who really tried to get on my nerves, ‘n thought callin’ me a she-cat was the way to go about it. Hearin’ it made me question a lot of things instead of feelin' bad like I think he wanted me to, but it wasn't ‘till I talked to a warrior named Shallowshiver about it." Stars, it felt like moons since she'd spoken that name. She missed them. "They were like Mudhound - neither tom nor she-cat - 'n they explained that it was okay to feel that way ‘n that nothing was wrong with me. I kinda just started experimenting in my head, 'n figured out that being a she-cat just felt better than anything else did. So when I figured it out, 'n I finally worked up the courage to talk to Cinderst--sky-" her voice still would always catch on the name, no matter how much time had passed "she told me... told me how proud she was of me, made sure I knew she was, 'n gave me the space to figure out how 'n when I wanted to tell the rest of the Clan."
That felt so long ago now. Two season-cycles, maybe? Perhaps a little more. Bumblestar cleared her throat and blinked the gathering mist stirred by the memory from her eyes. "It wasn't a quick 'n easy process for me. Took a little while to work it out. I think for some cats it comes faster than they can blink, but if that's not how it goes for you, that's okay. I know it's hard sometimes, thinkin' you don't fit in. But you do. Don't think you need to force it. If it takes you some time to feel it out, like it did for me, that's fine, yeah?"
