So far, this was definitely uncomfortable but better than the strikingly similar situation with Lionstorm, a change that he attributed to accepting the offering. But that left the challenge of figuring out what to do with it when his stomach was in knots. As Ratpaw said that he would be interested in taking some, Fawnpaw was admittedly taken aback by it when the alternative had been feeding the queens and elders after himself, the ranks supposedly before them on the food chain. Fawnpaw was a cat of peace though, and he didn't want to guilt Ratpaw more than it appeared he already had. "Sure," he said, taking a step away as if to demonstrate that Ratpaw was free to have it, "you can take as much as you want, then I'll um-- y'know, eat some and bring what's left to the others."
|
Ratpaw's eyes lit up and he nodded enthusiastically. He perked his ears and bent down, taking a few small bites of the fish before standing up and dipping his head. "There! I hope you like it," he said with a grin. Then, the white feline stood up and stepped away from Fawnpaw. "Well, I guess it's time for me to go find my trainer! Bye!" He turned away and raced off, his pelt heated as he disappeared onto the mess of cats in the clearing, his tail waving.

(Sorry if this is the wrong cat I haven’t roleplayed in this one in awhile.))
Sky paw didn’t say anything when she heard all the other apprentices talking. She and her mentor didn’t do the test yet and she didn’t know if she would pass anytime soon she rarely asked though.

His gaze would remain mostly fixed on Leopardblaze, though sometimes would glance away when he felt like they made eye contact for too long, something he wasn't overly fond of. He didn't like the feeling of cats reading him, even though he was an easy cat to read. The tom pretty much more his emotions on his sleeve; you knew when he was scared, sad, upset, angry (though rare) and happy.
Ears perking slightly as the she-cat asked another question, head turning to focus more on her before he would clear his throat a bit and glance away with a sheepish smile. "No,I um.. I've been too nervous to ask any of the Riverclan cats to teach me.. I'm not.. Very good at starting conversations, and I don't want to seem like a burden to them." He at least felt slightly better to hear that she hadn't learned how to swim either, but a small lump of fear formed in his throat as she mentioned they would have to learn how to swim eventually. He hated the thought. 'You'll die if you try to swim, if not by drowning then by sickness, or some terrible monster that lurks below where you can see.' The thought caused him to shudder and look away. "I wish we didn't have to learn how to swim. I'd rather just.. Hunt in the mud."
|
Leopardblaze sat content as she listened to him speak, nodding looking at her paws, speckles of mud still present," I wouldn't even know who to ask to help me learn since I don't really know very many Riverclan warriors." She seemed to sense his feeling of anxiousness or fear, noticing him seem to tense up and she felt bad for bringing up the topic to make him uncomfortable or nervous, so she quickly added,"But perhaps when I finally do try and learn we could learn together to get over our fears of the water at least a little bit." Hoping she didn't seem silly she looked away shyly, a small smile on her face. She looked up at him nodding in agreement," I also wish we wouldn't have to get into the water. My fur feels heavier even in the rain much less swimming in it." She really didn't want to swim or hunt in the mud, but what choice did she have. She would follow her class everywhere, even into the water as much as she dislikes this now necessary option of learning to swim, so at least she wouldn't drown is she fell in.

Snowpaw sighed and gazed at the stubborn patch of blood in between his pads. He had spent all morning aggressively trying to rub off, every second reminding him of-
No.
"You're unusually quiet sky, something wrong?"
He turned to Skypaw, tilting his head. Had he passed?

"I-I don't really like talking to cats I don't.. Really know. Or at least, I don't like s-starting conversations with them," agreed the tom with a nod of his head. It was nearly impossible for him to hide his own anxiousness on the subject, his body always got shaky and he tended to avoid eye contact even more. So it wasn't hard for her to pick up on the fact that he was quickly getting nervous/uncomfortable with the current subject. Thankfully she was a kind cat that sensed it, and tried to accommodate, some just kept going until he was a blubbering mess and then awkwardly left. Yarrowpounce would look at her with a small smile of appreciation, one last shudder rolling down his spine. "That s-sounds like a great idea.. It's always hard facing your fears alone," he'd watch as she glanced away with a smile before he too couldn't help but look away, his heart thudding in his chest. 'Am I being too awkward? I really hope I'm not, I don't want to drive my own clanmate away!' The thought caused his smile to fade and transition just slightly to a worried grimace.
"Yes, the water is.. It's terrifying. I'm too scared that I'll.. I'll drown or something. I don't know, there's a lot of things that can go wrong in the water and with my bad luck, it's bound to happen." Clearing his throat, the tom would shake his head. "I'm sorry.. I. I don't mean to bring you down or anything, I.. I need to work on my pessimism."

Re: RiverClan Clearing
Returning to camp with Fawnpaw, Lionstorm raised his head as his eyes searched the clearing. "Troutrunner!" his voice boomed out, calling for the name of his former mentor. "Troutrunner!" A brief cough, at the sensation of something hitting the back of his throat. "I need you to come here, right away!"
Fawnpaw would like what he had in mind, he was sure as he looked down at his companion. Troutrunner would treat him fairly.

Leopardblaze saw his smile fade away and she worried if she had said or done something wrong. She listening to him as explained his obvious disliking and reasonable fear for being in the water. She nodded, her face with an understanding look upon it," I understand the feeling of bad luck, I've definitely had my fair share before I joined the clans." She had a small smirk on her face as she spoke but she stared at the ground and a sad look crossed over her face before she shook her head, putting a genuine smile on," But that was a long time ago..." She flicked her ear as he cleared his throat and she smiled," It's fine." In all honesty she didn't mind if other cats were more pessimistic or optimistic she had thinks she has an even amount of both. She felt her stomach growl and looked away at slight embarrassment sure that he heard her stomach growl, politely saying, "Sorry I'm hungry... Would you like something when I go get something to eat?"

Re: RiverClan Clearing
Fawnpaw winced as he walked in beside Lionstorm, and he immediately was starting to screech out for another cat -- really, he'd forgotten how loud Lionstorm could be, briefly musing if there was any half-deaf elder in ThunderClan that hadn't heard him. "Troutrunner?" he questioned with a curious tilt of his head, scanning the clearing in search of this cat. Although he thought he'd heard the name in passing, he couldn't pinpoint who it was and hoped to match a face to the name.

"Yeah, I... do. It's nice." Fawnpaw didn't know what to say about a fish, already having complimented its size and gratefully accepting, but he was at a loss beyond that. Discomfort seared him upon Ratpaw's retreat, but he nodded and called another 'thanks again' at him even if he was unsure of whether it'd reach when he was basically gone. Peering down at the fish, bewildered, he managed to eat to fill the emptiness in his stomach before the twinge of guilt diminished his appetite. Maybe the elders would enjoy the rest of it, Fawnpaw thought, the faintest of smiles on his muzzle as he deemed it a better fate for his gift than being devoured by him or wasted.

Re: RiverClan Clearing
Hearing her name called, Troutrunner emerged from the warriors den immediately, ears pricked. She had been speaking, for the first time in some years, to her daughter, Cowslip. Though the black and white Molly who trailed behind her had evidently been glad to see a familiar face in her new territory, she was far more bristly than her mother remembered her to be. The two parted ways without a word, Troutrunner quickly pinpointing Lionstorm, who's voice she fondly recognised, and Cowslip wandering off to a quiet corner of the camp, her emerald eyes so similar and yet so unlike from her mother's matching ones, filled with resentment.
"Lionstorm," the blue Molly greeted her golden deputy politely, eyes lingering on him, and face unsmiling; she was worried to have been shouted so briskly, but such was the younger Tomcat's way. She spared a second to glance to the cat at his side, and smiled quickly at him, recognising him as the young apprentice that Lionstorm had become so fond of lately- Fawnpaw, she thought. Perhaps the Tom had another patrol for her to go on, or perhaps there had been some trouble he needed seeing to.
