"Poppypaw! Sharppaw! Woohoo!" the enforcer whooped, crying out the names of the new apprentices.

The young warrior had of late taken to dreading new apprenticeships. He always worried for the cats training. Did they have good mentors? Where they being good apprentices? Would they make it to warriorhood? Would they survive more than a moon? His friend, Starrywisp, had not. And she had been a good warrior, yep. The future looked grim for others ever since her death. Ever since Risingpaw's death, too... So Silverlark did all he could do. He cheered. Because a good, energetic send off was the right kind of energy to have. To not worry the new paws and hope that they did their best! Mmmhmm.

Reassignments, on the other paw, were never a good thing. It was proof of apprentices neglected, with no real sign that their next mentor would be better. His hadn't been. Neither Shadowfur nor Shadefrost had done a thing for him, and he couldn't help but feel bad for these cats. Doomed to go through the same cycle of neglect he'd gone through. Maybe he should approach some of them later. See if they needed some help with their training. Enforcers had helped him out when he had been training. Larkfire most of all. She didn't really seem to care much about the apprentices anymore. Or she didn't have time. Had a good reason, though, he supposed. What with being the new mum to half the nursery.

A small snort of amusement escaping him at this thought, Silverlark felt his ears perk up as he heard his name being called. Wait, he was getting a new apprentice? After Cloverpaw went missing? True, true... he tried his best with Cloves. He never understood why she left. Maybe Dawnstar didn't either, and she was willing to give him another chance? Well... this wasn't Flashpaw's first mentor... so he would make sure to show that he wasn't like those bad warriors who didn't care. He was going to teach Flashpaw how to be the very, very best combat warrior ever. Victory! ... Although maybe he should suggest getting hunting lessons from some other cat. That was most definitely not his strongest skill... nope, it wasn't.

Muscles rippling under his winter coat, the gray tom stood, looking around for the young she-cat he had just been assigned to train, surprised she hadn't come to him first. Hmmm... maybe she was shy, yep. Or maybe she didn't dare to come over to him even though Dawnstar always gave new apprentices and mentors a chance to meet up before she continued with meetings? Heh heh, that would be silly silly, but he could understand. He knew some cats thought Dawnstar was scary and mean for some reason. So! It was up to him to go find her instead! Show her he had her back already, mmhmm.

Finding Flashpaw was surprisingly easy, her bright, ginger pelt standing out clearly amidst the sea of black and gray coats. And just like he'd figured, she was scared... or nervous? Maybe just cold. She was shivering though, and that was no good. Nope. But that was okay, that was okay! He would just have to be extra friendly, mmhmm.

Making his way towards the apprentice, Silverlark sat down heavily besides her, offering a beaming smile down at her while he studied her. Mossy bogs... she looked young. Couldn't have started her apprenticeship too long ago? And she was already needing a new mentor? Cats in this clan... Sometimes made him want to cuff a few of them behind the ears. Or maybe she wasn't that young and he was just getting old? He was fifteen moons old... Maybe he was just getting up there in age? Still, that was no reason to be anything less than friendly to his new apprentice! Hopefully they would get along just fine, heh heh.

"Hello hello, how do you do? Name's Silverlark. Pleased to meet cha!" the tom purred, verdant eyes gleaming for a moment before he closed them shut, his friendly grin widening. "I know we in a meeting and all that, yeah? But what say yous? Want to head on to the clearing once this over? Get better acqua- ackno- abol- at knowing each other? Can start planning for your training all fast like. Make sure we on the same trail, ya dig?"

@blxze. [Flashpaw]
| From her post I assumed she was six moons old, almost seven? Sorry if I made a mistake there! Silverlark isn't the best at determining age sometimes, so can always chalk that up to a character mistake if she's older. Not sure what your character needs in terms of training, or if your tracker is already set up? Let me know via VM if you need any help with anything if you want, but if not, we can just have Silverlark and Flashpaw communicate fully in character and go through the training that way if preferred. |

Flashpaw shyly nodded. Silverlark seemed... well,
rather friendly. The ginger tabby looked up into her new mentor's
eyes. They were green, like her's. "Yeah, that sounds good."
she said quietly, though her eyes sparkled. Her old mentor had gotten
none of her training done whatsoever, so the molly desperately
had needed a reassignment. Encouraged by his friendly, seemingly-
open nature, Flashpaw forced her head to stay high and her ears
perked up, and then shook her head, trying to clear her head. She
didn't know what to think about getting a reassignnment- she'd
never needed one before. It was all new stuff to her.

[That sounds good! Flash hasn't had any training yet sadly, and I'll be making her tracker, so really it's all good on my end. I'm excited! ]

“I’m quite good at my hunting…but I suppose learning the way Shadowclan does it would be, ok.” Turtlepaw said in a gruff tone. The more she learns the ways of shadowclan the faster she’ll be the leader, maybe if she’s good enough at it maybe Dawnstar will acknowledge her at it! At the thought of this, her sneering smile returned.

High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]

Once all the mentors had greeted their apprentices and Mossfreckle said a few words of gratitude about his promotion, Dawnstar immediately demanded every cat's attention. She wasn't done speaking.

"Listen well, it seems those lynxes I had been hoping were just passing through are staying around ShadowClan's territory. Reports from Silverlark have them scented briefly at both the Croaking Swamp and near the Icy Heartlands. It seems to be a mother and two of her kits. The mother has proven to be hard to detect, she is as silent and stealthy as a well-trained ShadowClan warrior. Her kits, as expected, are louder, but can be just as hard to hear or spot when they want to be." Dawnstar growled irritated.

"Thankfully, it seems that so long as we're stealthy they can't detect us either. At the moment I haven't a clue where they are stationed, but it doesn't seem like they've noticed we own the territory or taken to actively hunting us. I'd prefer keeping it like that until we figure out how to deal with them. The Enforcers have been tasked with working out a plan to get rid of the lynxes. Unlike the foxes, we can't battle lynxes without caution." Foxes were one thing, lynxes were another thing entirely. They had to be careful with trying to drive them out or kill them. These were some serious threats.

"For the time being, we'll leave the lynxes alone and I'll continue to allow cats to roam the territory unsupervised but don't be surprised if I enforce the buddy rule should the lynxes start to become aggressive."She knew her clan didn't like having to take someone with them out into the territory all the time. But she kinda needed them alive so they were going to have to deal with it.

"In other news, I've decided to no longer allow cats to cross into ThunderClan's territory. You will mind their border from here on out." Dawnstar didn't bother with elaborating as she should have. She left it at that for now.

Fogkit
shadowclan kit | he/him | 6 moons | albino
purrks; kitty softpaws (inactive) | tags; -

Fogkit stumbles to the edge of the clearing, blinking his tired dull blue eyes as if they’re filled with dust. How long had be been sleeping-?

Aw, nuts he’s missed half a meeting. Fogkit scans the clearing for a place to sit, but after realizing he has no one to sit by, he sits at the back.

Cornpuff scowled at the news of the ThunderClan border, but kept his face in check. He didn't want to get questioned by Dawnstar about funny faces. He had other things he was doing at the moment anyway.

A dark-eyed queen poked her head out of the nursery, blocking the entrance. Her ears stretched to pick up the announcement. At the mention of the threats, Ravenclaw sighed, almost glad she was expecting kits at the moment. So long as the lynxes didn't come near camp, she didn't need to worry about them.

Gracklepaw brightened up as he heard his name called by Dawnstar. Dawnstar was the coolest leader ever! And she was super cool for letting him join ShadowClan. The black furred cat couldn’t keep his stupid grin off his face. He still couldn’t believe he was an apprentice. He’d dreamed about this since he was a kit, and now he was officially in a Clan!

Gracklepaw watched as a new, bigger warrior approached. Who was this? To be quite honest he hadn’t been paying attention to the cats name, or really anything past the point where Dawnstar has announced his joining of the Clan. “It’s great to meet you Hickorysplinter. I’m Grackle! Er, it’s Gracklepaw now.” He corrected with a sheepish grin. “And, if you don’t mind me asking, what’s a mentor?” Oh drats. He already felt stupid in front of his Clan, and his mentor, whatever that is. This was not the good first impression he’d hoped for.

. . .

@finley.exe - sorry for the late reply! ive been sick lately
