The little white molly, stared into the dark entrance of Bumblestar's den her pelt prickling. "Yeah she could..."Maybe they should have stayed by the elder's den. They couldn't rip kit's heads off. It wasn't allowed! She heard Goldenkit say he was turning back and she whipped around. "Ok!" She raced after him and swatted at his ear. "Last one there's a rotten mouse!" She bolted for the nursery, even though she could feel her chest heaving. She knew as soon as they got to the nursery both kittens would be out. This game was too much fun! I don't want it to end! She tipped her head up and let her whiskers get caught in the wind. This had been the bestest day ever!

GoldenKit tumbled over his paws to chase after her. He wasn't going to lose this race. he bounded across the clearing back to the nursery. His paws couldn't stop fast enough, and he ran straight into the side of the nursery. He blinked his nose hurting. There wasn't even a small dent in the wall. "who got back first?" His head whipped around to see SlugKit. He couldn't tell who had won. The golden kit's paws felt heavy, and he was about ready to sleep. He yawned and shuffled his paws into the den.
There was a lot that Hollowpaw still needed to learn and a lot that he still needed to say. Everything in ThunderClan's territory, for instance, he had yet to see. Unsurprising, considering he was only just apprenticed... and then immediately shoved into a different role in the clan. It was an interesting position to be in, that was true, but one Hollowpaw was grateful for - if only that it was a stepping stone on his journey to becoming king of the forest. Tonight, as the sun was going down, he was antsy enough to request a quick trip through the territory. The weather was much cooler at night, anyway, so there was no risk of overheating as the two apprentices currently within the medicine den had done.
Much of ThunderClan seems to have started going to bed for the night or taken up posts at the camp's entrance to stand guard, so his choice in escorts would be limited, it seems. That wasn't a problem, he'd just grab the first two warriors who looked to be even a little bit awake right now.
"Laurelfrost, Sproutfleck," he calls to the two felines, getting their attention, "it's getting late, but I wanted to ask if you'd be willing to take me into the territory, maybe to the Cove, or something. I want to get started on learning the forest." They're free to say no, of course, but Hollowpaw would just find someone else to take him if either cat refused.
"Whitepaw!" Wolfhive defaulted to calling for his apprentice, but realized too late it... didn't work like that with this one. Damn it, having a deaf apprentice really threw him for a loop sometimes.
So next, he opted to look for him and once he found him... made sure Whitepaw could see his face. "Going... to do some... battle practice.. in camp... You ready?"
If not for all the dangers in the territory, he'd opt to do it there - but Whitepaw especially was at risk of being hurt and Wolfhive figured a spar in camp would be a good practice run.
Everyone seemed to be winding down for the night. Most heading into their dens to get some rest. Laurelfrost however, lingered. She was finding herself too restless to contemplate sleep. Unfortunately, she couldn't leave camp, and she absolutely refused to pace to burn energy, that would simply be a waste. As well as inconsiderate to the few clanmates that were still awake. So she tucked herself towards the edge of camp, still visible to the majority but out of the way. Grooming her grey and white fur as some sort of managed way to funnel her energy. The tabby was not expecting to hear her name called, even more so by the newly crowned medicine cat apprentice. A small territory tour did not seem like the worst idea. She quickly got to her feet shaking out her fur before padding over to the young cat. "Yeah sure, I can do that."

In the aftermath of much of the chaos Wolfhive found himself in, he caught sight of his 'ma and joined her. "Got some news, none great though. Basilkit got out of camp and ran into a dog, I dunno if the dog didn't see her or Pinepaw was too fast, 'cause the dog didn't hurt her but she ran into a.." Hmm... he didn't have a word for it. "Twoleg jaws, thing. It snapped her leg near in two, wasn't much keeping it together so I had to amputate. Havin' Drizzlecloud look after her since there isn't much I know for shock, 'n that'll kill her before any amount of bloodloss." He shook his head. He wasn't happy Basilkit somehow got out of camp - a lesson to listen shouldn't need to be paid in blood.
"Also found Willowfrost near the border. She's in rough shape, got attacked by a pair of foxes hunting together and got lost trying to get away from them. I brought her back to camp but we might wanna look into that, see if they have a den 'n kits nearby." He wasn't sure if fox paired up like they did.. but just in case, he didn't want a fox family in their territory.
At least the last bit of news wasn't terrible though, in comparison to the rest. "And final, I went out with Alpinepaw earlier to Willow's Rise. We found Moonmaul's body in the area with a bunch of vultures eating it - I managed to recover his remains 'n bury them, but the birds just kept a distance 'n didn't actually leave.." Alone, going after a flock of large birds wasn't practical. If Bumblestar wanted, a patrol might have better luck taking them out. "Don't know what killed Moonmaul either, his body was too rotten and picked at to tell."

Mudhound was being embarrassing in the middle of the clearing in full view of everyone again. Flat on their back where they'd toppled trying to reach the 'good spots' the tripod was licking themselves with absolutely no shame, pulling stupid poses to make sure they hit every area and looking almost like some moving post modernist cat statue then an actual creature. But given this was pretty normal for the tripod it was generally ignored by the clan.
What wasnt ignored was Wolfhives grim report, and the hornet flipped themselves around to a better position to listen, tongue bleping out. That was grim and all rather sudden and at once, wow poor Woofie for being the one to discover it all.... And poor Basilkit, though she shouldve known better then to leave the camp alone much less at all as a kitten.
They'd try and lighten the stress. "I can go take care of the dog to get one thing out of the way. Bumble-sis you've seen me fight dogs before and talk to them so you can trust me with this, doesnt sound like the dog was much of a threat anyways. Ill bring someone with me just in case, whoevers free unless you have a preference."
Maybe Sprucejumper or Snakepelt unless their sister wanted them to bring the big guns.
Wolfhive wasn't sure how comfortable Bumba would be with Mudhound handling the dog aspect alone. "Probably best if you did take someone with you. The dog might not be an issue, but we got more threats than that in those woods 'n I doubt Bumba wants you to return with another lost limb." Foxes, owls, traps... what else?? "Maybe take Raggedear or Hawkcatcher, they'll keep a good eye out for you."
Back to Bumba. "Since foxes have been the biggest issue - as far as I know the traps have only gotten Basilkit, 'n the vultures.. well, they aren't digigng up graves, I'll take Sproutfleck 'n some others with me to see if they're around 'n clear them out if not. Then if we're not roughed up, we'll swing by the area the traps are in 'n make sure they can't hurt anyone. Otherwise, I'll have a different patrol handle it when I'm back." Vultures could be the final worry - and they were probably the easiest to deal with and least dangerous when compared to everything else. "Oh, by the way.." There were a couple cats Wolfhive wanted to make Hornets, and he'd go on to share the names with his ma. "Any objections to me promoting them? They've both been really solid 'n I think this could mean the world to them."
Oh, and while he was at all this, he nearly smacked his paw into his face. "Damn it, I forgot... Finchswoop was talkin' about some possible cannibal freak loner by the border, 'n apparently Shadowtail got attacked by a badger. Not sure what to do about the freak, but I'll have the badger dealt with if it's still around." Why did everything decide to happen at once!!
There was far too much going on, and it was giving Bumblestar a damned headache. The tip of her tail twitched as she listened to both Hornets give her their updates: foxes, badgers, vultures, dogs, traps, a CANNIBAL, and on top of all that, they still had an owl to deal with.
"Mudhound, take his advice 'n see if you can handle the dogs," she bit out through gritted teeth. "Wolfhive, you do what you think is best regardin' the foxes 'n the traps. Maybe take those two" - being the cats he'd suggested for promotion, that was - "with you 'n see how they handle it. If all goes well, then yes, we can see about promoting 'em. As far as the situation with the freak 'n everything else goes, send out some patrols to scour every inch of the territory 'n see if they find any dens or sets or anything else we need to deal with. I'd rather not be caught off-guard."
hahaha!!! free at nighttime, at last! somehow, the stinker had slunk out of the nursery, flashy tail tucked safely to her flank to darken it, and bounded out into the clearing on bumbling paws.
however, past the obstacle of sneaking around, she found herself in the dark. the moonlight was slim, being only a crescent sliver in the starry sky. woah. she squinted and peered around, unused to the world being painted dark. the kit burbled quietly to herself and staggered around, snuffling at the ferns.
why is everything so big!!! she pounced at her faint shadow and rolled over onto her back. looking up, the distant, twinkling stars made her dizzy. she batted at the air and tried to claw one down. nope. no good.
sighing, she flopped to her side and blinked around at the clearing. "guh," she muttered. she squirmed and slithered around in the dirt.
