"I smell fish. And it's strong." Bouncepaw meows, not with any particular distaste- he doesn't have much thought on it.

Even though he hasn't stepped much close to Riverclan, Bouncepaw can hear the roar of water rushing by his ears, the taste of fish in the air, and the faded scent of Riverclan. Unlike the border with Thunderclan, he doesn't wander in too much. Instinctively he feels like what he did previously may not have been a good idea.

Second on the list was the riverclan border and, as it'd been for what 3(?) moons now it was free of the neighboring clans scent. Just windclan, strong and clear after Silverrose and her patrol marked it recently. Now that was a patrol that did the work even with only one warrior and two apprentices. Good cats all.


In this place the herb order was different.
"Yer goin' for burnet here. Small leafy green shrub wit' leaves wit' jagged edges except theyre soft ta the touch, not sharp. Tall dark pink flower but we're after the leaves today. See like theres a shrub over there."
The tom pointed at an example, once more sitting and supervising, letting the apprentices get to work without help as their punishment.


"Now, yall shouldve learned this in the nursery but here's why patrols are important. When I was a kitten (so an' age ago) the leader had left Twilightstar in a bind. Slackin' warriors an' unmarked borders so our scents were so weak they'd almost faded. Shadowclan an' thunderclan took advantage o' that and stole huge stretches o' land from us just because we didnt mark an' so seemed weak an' an' easy target.

Which was true. There were other factors but huntin' patrols were no better, not showin' or reportin' an' cats died from starvation. This is why I dont tolerate slackin', a warrior that dont do patrols aint a worthwhile clanmate an' can be a burden ta the clan. Ya'll get slack as learnin' apprentices but dont rely on that fer long."
As he spoke, trying to make sure this got through to the apprentices the tom kept a keen eye on the riverclan side of the bank, idly wondering when the other clan would come home. Or if. Maybe they'd all died in exile, though that could be an issue if so.

Ah well, once the work here was done it was time to go.

He followed Crowtooth again as they reached the RiverClan border. The tom could smell none of the fishy scent of the other clan - only WindClan's strong scent. Listening carefully to the tom, he would nod. Going over to the bush, he would set down his Juniper Berries and carefully pull off a few leaves of Burnet, grabbing the two herbs gently in his jaws and rejoining the fury.

Time to do the border stuff with the bordering and the border, yeah! Ok well this was probably the most boring type of patrol but what was Adderstrike really supposed to do about that? Nothing much, though she did hope that they wouldn't run into the Fartclan. It honestly wouldn't surprise her if all of that 'clan' went back on their promise and tried to kill them or mutilate their children again. It would be even less surprising if one bad faith actor decided to take things into their own hands. It happened all the time with her own clan, what made the other clans special when they acted like vile rogues unlike themselves. Honestly, the only thing that might make her think of leaving Riverclan is pulling the three versus one like all those rogues.

This was terrible. Well kind of, that was likely just his paranoia speaking more than anything else but his mind was tormenting him nonetheless. Walking with Hollytail and Adderstrike towards the Windclan border was awful. Beyond awful even. This was terrifying. It took all of his worries about returning and ampliphed them to 10 million. What a great Lionheart he is. Scared at imaginary threats. Are they imaginary though? Windclan had been the cause of the massacre. So perhaps his fears weren’t unfounded.

So here they were. On the border. Terrifying. “Aright, stay close. I don’t want to spread out too far. We’ll be slower but safer that way, I don’t trust Windclan.” The lionheart spoke shortly as he started to look up and down the border from his position to see if he could spot any approaching moor runners. Okay. Clear for now. That fact didn’t settle his nerves. Not in the slighest. Seabreeze stepped forward and winced at how old the markers are and how strong windclan’s were and quickly started to reset them. They were home again. Everything was okay.

"Nope." Bouncepaw shakes his head. Windclan was much larger than he thought, with lots of borders. Luckily nothing yet happened, unlike what he feared. Well, if you don't count the prey that he failed to catch. Bouncepaw follows after Bluestrike, stifling a giggle at Bluestrike's gagging. Not that it didn't smell weird, but to him it didn't smell that bad.

"Is this the end? Or are there more places left?" He asks.

Hollytail followed Adderstrike and Seabreeze to Sedgewater valley. He listened as Seabreeze explained that they should stay close. "Understood!" he mewed. He went a little down and marked the border, going down the border and marking every so often.
