As the cats arrived one by one to heed her call, Dawnstar sat back on her haunches and flexed her claws. She never felt like she had enough cats to deal with problems at paw. She knew the number of cats she had in her clan and the few devoted enough to gather to help their clan when in need were too few. She'd have to work out a way to crack down on laziness when called to action like this.

"Briarsplash, you can take Birdpaw, Sleepysunrise, and...Gutspaw if you can find them and head up the bait patrol." She hadn't seen the apprentice anywhere yet and Dawnstar wouldn't waste time on them if they could not be punctual. "If you can't find Gutspaw, you can head out without the apprentice, unless one of you is confident in your tree climb skills." Dawnstar cast the question to the volunteers. She could replace the apprentice, but she wanted to head up the ambush patrol and keep an eye on her clanmates.

"You'll need to hunt prey, the kill has to be a bit messier than usual. I need as many rats lured out as possible." Dawnstar reminded and then looked over at Tuftedtusk.

"You can lead the extermination patrol. Take Squirrelrise, Quitepaw, Blueberrybird, and Midnightpath if you can find her." Why were so many cats dallying when she needed them here for the clan? "If you can't find Midnightpath, take Ratflame instead." Her eyes danced over to the molly that was here on time.

"The rest of you can come with me, we'll take care of the ambush. Rookfire," The intimidating she-cat felt the tom's uncertain from a tree length away as he tried to get nerves or whatever had him disquiet under control. "You come with me and the ambush patrol. I know there is some herb particularly for rat bites, bring that and whatever else you think you'll need. You'll stay out of the fighting unless there's no avoiding it. You can grab whoever to help carry herbs if you need them. Since I'm leaving Mossfreckle in camp, I'll be counting on you to tend to the wounded. You can handle that, right?" Dawnstar's glare was openly scrutinizing as she awaited an answer.

She didn't doubt the Rookfire's ability, he and Mossfreckle were trained by Lostspark, who was trained by Elmshadow, who was arguably one of ShadowClan's best medicine cats before his passing. It was the strange anxiety he was showing that troubled her. Rookfire often played it cool as a storm during leafbare. So what the heck was his problem? She couldn't hope to gleam inside of his head. The cat has put in the work to earn her trust, something she's acknowledged by giving him his current rank, and all it would take was one big mess-up to have that trust undone.

Here she was giving him another chance to prove himself he better not let her down. It would be oh-so-disappointing.

An ambush? Starlingcall's eyes glimmer. That can do. They flex their claws and stretch out their front legs, relishing in the burning anticipation that always comes before a battle. It glances at Rookfire, silently vowing to the medicine cat apprentice that it will not let a single rat touch them.

She could tell the scrutiny in Miss Grandmama's eyes as she observed Rookfire, and Sleepysunrise felt a certain air of interest within the peculiar exchange, much so on Rookfire's end. But the enforcer knew far better than to get caught up in the teachings by watching those around her; there was prey to be caught and rats to be lured, evidently, and if she couldn't be trusted as the patrol's leader then it pointed out to her needing an increase in her work and performance; improve upon all she had been doing. Blinking slowly, Sleepysunrise pulled away her gaze and rested it on Briarsplash and the patrol they were meant to lead; they better not waste much time, rats sounded like nasty creatures, and she'd rather rid ShadowClan of the plague that had Miss Grandmama displeased and could harm the clan in their sleep. ...Speaking of, had Birdpaw not already joined the gathering crowds? The younger apprentice was often spotted with friends or family.

No worries, attacks like this didn't need her to be on any specific patrol, and really, she'd be fine anywhere the fighting was.

Tuftedtusk nodded solemnly, sweeping his tail to gather his patrol together. Turning to Quietpaw, Midnightpath, Blueberrybird and Squirrelrise he would lift his chin.

"You heard Dawnstar." He rumbled, eyes glinting. "It's our job to exterminate the remaining rats. Do not dither and do what is required of you. Understood?"

He waited for his patrol to gather around him and then he would be ready for Dawnstar's signal. He would do this patrol right. He would keep the clan safe.
