Ravenpaw wrinkled her nose at the scent, listening closely to Fadingstar. She nodded intently, eyes narrowed with seriousness and focus. She snorted when Fadingstar asked if there were questions. "Yeah, how they stand that stench?" She muttered, tail lashing. She hadn't met any ShadowClanners, but she was already annoyed by them. Even though Fadingstar was trying to keep himself neutral, based on his description and looking at where they lived, Ravenpaw instinctively felt she couldn't trust them.

Rainpaw listened intently to Fadingstar's description of ShadowClan, flinching when he described their ruthlessness. How dreadful! She took a step backwards instinctively, bumping into one of her denmates. She gasped softly, turning to her denmate with an apologetic and guilty gaze. "I'm so sorry!" She whispered. "I just got a little spooked! Are you okay?" She made sure to keep her voice down, she didn't want to disturb the others who were asking questions.

Marigoldpaw merely shook her head at Fadingstar's last question. Nope! No questions here! Marigoldpaw absorbed the information like a sponge. The only question that was left in her head was whether or not Minkpaw liked the way she smelt. Did she miss the fishy scent of Riverclan?

A few cats were asking questions, but it didn't seem all that interesting, so he continued to dip his paws in the water, plashing a little whilst he waited for them to move on. He agreed with Ravenpaw, the smell certainly was horrible. He began wondering how ShadowClan really lived, but not for long - a sudden bump brought him back to reality. He had to steady himself a little, almost falling into the water - Was this it, the big attack Fadingstar warned them about?! But, once he turned around he realised it was just another RiverClan apprentice. A small sigh of relief escaped their lips, "I'm okay, yea!" they smiled, "I almost thought you were a ShadowClanner though!" He laughed, turning away from the water. Rainpaw looked particularly scared, maybe all this talk of ShadowClan spooked her just as much as it spooked him? Plus, she was being so quiet, and he wasn't really sure why. Still, he kept his voice down to match hers. "Are you okay though?" They tilted their head, concerned, but, also a little happy that someone else might be finding this whole thing scary.

Rainpaw was relieved he was okay, but she couldn't help feeling heat rush to her ears. "Definitely not!" She gasped quietly. "They sound terrifying!" She shuffled her paws timidly at her denmate's next question, glancing down at her white-toed forepaws. "I-I'm okay." She murmured. She really was okay, Fadingstar's words just really spooked her about ShadowClan. She lacked her twin's bravery and fearlessness. "It's just...scary to think about you know?" She mumbled, looking up at Shellpaw and then back over the border. So creepy... She shivered, hoping that she'd never have to meet a ShadowClanner in combat.Like Shellpaw, she too took some comfort that she wasn't the only apprentice there feeling unnerved. At least she wasn't a total loss.
"One time, my dad told me that ShadowClanners eat their weak kits!" She whispered to Shellpaw in horror. Of course, it was entirely possible that this was just a nursery tale meant to keep her and Ravenpaw (mostly Ravenpaw) in line. But now seeing the border, and smelling what the ShadowClan scent was like, Rainpaw found herself believing in the possibility.

Re: We're Off to See the Borders! [ RC App Training ]
Once he was summoned for boarder patrol, Foxleap took a step forward and felt the tension in his large paws press into the ground. He couldn't help the tinge of anxiety, wondering if the apprentices would be safe during this excursion? Surely they needed more warriors on this trip? The handsome russet tom shook his long, luxurious pelt in an attempt to shake off the nerves. His bright amber eyes remained glued on Fadingstar as his leader spoke, nodding his broad head and following his group as they padded into the depths of their territory. Foxleap shook his head at Fadingstar's final question, his long tail eagerly swaying behind him as the group moved silently through the underbrush. His paws rustled the leaves beneath him as he darted through the forestry, remaining close by Fadingstar to protect him should it come down to it. Foxleap didn't want to underestimate their conniving opponents. His skin prickled under his fur with unease, but kept his composure calm, collected yet alert.
Aspenpaw followed the group, he enjoyed being out in the territory. For some reason nothing seemed familiar, that would change eventually though. When he became better acquainted with it all. Then he'd know this territory like the back of his paw! The further they walked the muddier the ground became. He didn't mind it but it was his most favourite thing. Suddenly the group stopped, oh had they made it to one of the borders? Opening his maw he sucked in a breathe as well as the familiar revolting stench. It was one he knew, from the raid. Which clan was it though, couldn't be windclan. They lived in fields! Uh- or maybe it was? Aspenpaw continued walking until he had made it to the front of the group, closer to where fadingstars stood. He tilted his head and squinted at the territory beyond. So this was the shadowclan and Riverclans border then. One thing was for sure, only miserable cats could live in that kind of territory.
Moving his gaze away of from the dark territory beyond the border, he looked back up at Fadingstar as the leader informed them About about shadowclan. "Shadowclan sounds awful, way worst than us. Why weren't they exiled!" he complained mainly to himself, it was a question but he would be fine if it went unanswered. Aspenpaw watched as Fadingstar marked a fallen tree. He then made his way over to a stump of what once was a tree and tried to mimic what he had just learned.
At the mention of trespassers, he bounded back to the group. "Wait if we were on a border patrol and the patrol split up to mark spot of it. What would you do if you spotted a shadowclan cat trespassing. Would we have to go back to report it to our patrol or should we deal with them alone?" it was more of a what if question but like he really needed to know! Incase. Of um. Just in case.
Re: We're Off to See the Borders! [ RC App Training ]
So there wasn't many questions to be had, just some apprentices murmuring about how Shadowclan was scary. That's good. A healthy amount of fear was a good thing. Though she wondered if she should say something to those that might be terrified or what she would even say. Then an interesting question peeped up.
"I would always say go back to your patrol members and then either confront the tresspaser and tell them to leave, or if they are already gone report back. I also don't think you should really be splitting up, but as an apprentice you should never go up to an adult on your own. You never know what they might be thinking." Adderstrike warned and informed.

Wow, he was verbally acknowledging her by name! What an actual, genuine shocker! Redmire curled her tail and set out to follow the group, sticking close to her apprentice for the duration of the walk.
As they neared ShadowClan and Fadingstar gave his explanation, she snorted. "If they're over the border, feel free to drive them off or kill them," she told Ravenpaw. "They're asking for it at that point."

Fadingstar glanced down at Softpaw at the apprentice's question. "That's why it's important to memorize the scents of the different Clans as soon as you can. The quicker you come to know the way that each Clan smells, the easier it will be to identify scent markers. You all already know RiverClan scent by heart, so there shouldn't be any issue with not being able to scent our own scent markers."
He intended to make a point with his final sentence, not wanting any apprentice to get it in their head that they could use inexperience with Clan scents as an excuse for crossing the border.
Aspenpaw piped up with a comment about how ShadowClan should've been exiled, before asking about what to do when encountering a trespasser away from the rest of the patrol. While Fadingstar agreed with the sentiment that ShadowClan should've been driven off a long time ago, he wanted to keep the group focused on learning.
He glanced at Adderstrike and Redmire as they offered answers to Aspenpaw's question. For the first time in... well, ever, Fadingstar found himself agreeing more with Redmire than Adderstrike.
"Adderstrike is right in that you shouldn't be going off alone as an apprentice. If you're on a border patrol and a warrior tells you to do that, I want you to refuse and tell Dusklion about it as soon as you're back. But if it happens once you're a warrior, Redmire is right. Any trespassers should immediately be challenged. If they refuse to leave, they should be attacked, and killed if necessary. The only exception is if its a young apprentice; if anyone in this Clan kills a kid unless it's absolutely, unavoidably necessary, you won't be remaining in RiverClan.
"You all have strong voices; if an attack happens, screech at the top of your lungs for help.
"Ideally, nobody should ever be alone at the border these days. Someday, when you're a warrior and on a border patrol for a Clan we're on bad terms with, always stay in pairs or as a group."
There were no other questions aside from that, so Fadingstar beckoned the group on. Their next stop would be WindClan; a Clan that had quickly grown to be a huge disappointment.
"This is WindClan's border. Feel how strong the wind is here? WindClan live on open plains, so they don't have the protection from wind that trees provide. You should be able to scent a fresh, airy, dusty scent; that's WindClan.
"WindClan used to be a noble, honorable Clan, but over the past couple of seasons they've turned fox-hearted and cowardly. Twilightstar used to be a great leader worth admiring, but unfortunately her leadership has declined. I don't know if it's senility or what, but the fact remains that WindClan is no longer the grand Clan they used to be. They showed more restraint than the other Clans during the 3v1, but I still encourage all of you to exercise caution around them."
Glancing around, Fadingstar spotted a few tufts of fur caught on a spiky bush. Part of the bush was trampled, suggesting some sort of scuffle had happened here. The bush was directly on the border, so it was too difficult to tell which Clan the fur belonged to.
Nodding toward the bush, Fadingstar turned toward the apprentices. "Can anyone tell me how you'd handle this if you came across it on patrol?"
