High Rank Announcement [#hrannouncement]

"In honor of your determination and ambition, I give you your warrior name from this moment onward you'll be known as Pigeonstep [ @Toodle ]. I welcome you as ShadowClan's final Enforcer." At first, Dawnstar had been debating on whether a newly ranked warrior should be considered for ShadowClan's elite, yet her age and that missing paw shouldn't be the defining factor on whether Pidgeonstep should acquire the rank. She had the skill, and tenacity, and showed a maturity that many of ShadowClan's experienced warriors failed to show. Dawnstar was hoping this would inspire the rest of her clanmates.

"Mothkit [ @LeoDaLeaf ], Willowkit [ @Wintersun ], and Spiderkit [ @ghostt]. Let's get your apprentice ceremonies done." Dawnstar yowled, eyes searching for the three kits.

Willowkit jerked her head up in surprise, before slowly walking over to be closer to the leader. Was this really happening? She was becoming an apprentice!! Willowkit didnt think she had ever been this excited in her life. Looking up at her leader, she waited for any more instructions.

Spiderkit's ears perked as he heard his name called, "omg omg omg it's happening I'm gonna be an apprentice" he mumbled quickly to himself before jumping up, as he didn't want to waste the leader's time. Excitement washed over him as he walked over to Dawnstar with stride and confidence, he didn't want to seem too childish in front of the cats that were watching. He sat down and looked up at his leader, awaiting what she had to say next.
This moment felt like forever, he was so impatient, yet he had to keep his cool.
He hoped his mentor was nice, plus he would get to see Dustpaw!
He couldn't wait!

The mottled she-cat sat up proudly as Pigeonpaw spoke up to accept her duties and responsibilities as a new warrior. Prouder still as the massive leader spoke the traditional words to give the grey she-cat her new name, Pigeonstep. Then her blue eyes widened and an ear-to-ear grin crossed her face; she could nearly squeal. Her butt lifted from the ground as a shiver ran down her spine, vibrating her tail. Her apprentice, former apprentice, she corrected herself enthusiastically, would be joining her team as an enforcer!

She bounced over to the newly appointed enforcer, leaning in to bump Pigeonstep on the shoulder playfully. “Welcome to the team! Hope you didn’t think you were getting out from under me so easily!” She giggled.

She turned her attention back to Dawnstar as she recognized one of her daughters’ names. Moth kit was finally making it to apprenticeship. Frostpaw had already had hers but, come to think of it, she hadn’t seen that one in a while either. She shrugged and slipped back beside Elmshadow. Whether he wanted to accept it or not, they were now a Shadowclan power couple and their daughter was becoming an apprentice. Another excited shiver ran through her as she tried to compose herself.

The molly eyes glistened as her name was called, she was right it was her apprentice ceremony! She stood up from where she was seated towards the back of the crowd and weaved her way through the clan until she popped out towards the front, she spotted Willowkit and Spiderkit already there waiting and she quickly stood next to them.

Excitement prickled at her pelt, who was her mentor going to be? I hope its someone good so I can get at the same level or better than Frostpaw..

Pigeonpaw - no - Pigeonstep. The long-haired grey Molly bowed her head, partly in trying to tamper her over-excitement. She was a real warrior now! But wait. Her breath caught in her throat and she looked up to meet Dawnstar’s eyes. Had she heard her right? That had to be a mistake. No, of course she’d heard her right. Pigeonstep was an enforcer?! Pigeonstep smiled and stepped back to let it all sink in. She was just made a warrior and she’d been named as an enforcer. She barely felt when Cougarivy bumped her shoulder or heard her playful congratulations. She turned her smile to her former mentor. For possibly the first time in her life she felt at a loss for words. After the trauma with Silentwhisper in her early kithood, her questioning and finally all out search for why her family was so different, her biological parents not wanting her or not knowing about her, Batsong and Snowpaw leaving her(twice), and then that Thunderclanner taking her paw. She’d made it! She never doubted it, and even getting enforcer. She knew she’d show them all! She wasn’t just another warrior of Shadowclan! She’d vowed from kithood to become the strongest warrior in Shadowclan and now here she was, chosen as one of Shadowclan’s elites!

Willowbriar called out "Pigeonstep, Pigeonstep!" and listened eagerly to the next part of the meeting. This was what she had really looked forward too! The idea of an apprentice had always appealed to her. She loved apprentices and kits, and had always planned on having kits of her own one day. If she had an apprentice, she'd be able to teach it all that she knew! That thought excited her. Of course, at a moment of happiness and joy, the voice came.

Rough and deep, it spoke in her mind. Why in the world would you want an apprentice? There's no way you could teach a kit, let alone protect one! How could you, if you couldn't even protect your own brother or mother? You're a failure of a cat. No. The she-cat shook her head. Yes, she was a failure. But she wouldn't let that stop her from enjoying the moment. More kits were becoming apprentices! It was a great thing or the whole clan, and she was going to enjoy it.

Dawnstar watched the interaction between Cougarivy and her former apprentice, Pigeonstep with a touch of envy. Dawnstar's interest in taking an apprentice herself had weaned greatly due to the betrayal of the last one. Eventually, she had put him out of his misery. A bittersweet story, that ended up in some odd trauma to form within the leader. Any apprentice she trained she'd always wondered in the back of her mind if they'd end up like him as well.

It was safer for her to simply train ShadowClan's apprentices when she had free time, rather than devote all her attention to one single apprentice. Sparkpaw was the only apprentice she had attempted to train, more as a debt to Talonstone than anything else, but she vanished for a number of moons and even though she had returned to ShadowClan, Dawnstar had lost all faith in the she-cat. Dawnstar doubted that the apprentice would remain loyal to ShadowClan for long, she had no drive or passion to be what Talonstone had been.

"From now on until you receive your warrior names you'll be known as Mothpaw, Spiderpaw, and Willowpaw." Dawnstar forced herself back on track as all three newly named apprentices peered up at her with excitement and eagerness. Well, actually, Willowpaw looked more shocked than excited, did the hairball not keep track of her age or something?

"Willowbriar, it's about time you start training an apprentice. Mothpaw is yours to teach." Dawnstar glanced over at the warrior who watching the new apprentices with this type of earnestness that Dawnstar would be a fool to ignore. She clearly wanted an apprentice and so she'd get one.

"Spiderpaw, your mentor will be Lynxblossom. I trust he'll train you well." Dawnstar waved her tail in the direction of the gray cat with the bobtail. The leader was really hoping that she wouldn't have to reassign any of these apprentices by the next meeting.

"Willowpaw, you'll be training with Redheart." The warrior had recently returned to the clan after a long period of absence. Perhaps a little responsibility would keep him from wandering this time.

"Pinepaw, I've no clue where your mentor disappeared to but considering they're no longer around to train you. Foxwhisper will be taking over your training." Dawnstar wasn't sure why she didn't have as many cats to assign as normal. But she wasn't going to question it since it wasn't something terrible.

"Now then, Purekit, despite holding the rank of a kit, you old enough to know better than to sneak into a gathering to cause an unnecessary fuss with some stupid ThunderClan apprentice. I don't care why you did, all that matters is that you did. So even though you recently just return to the clan, I'll be sending you out in temp exile for the next seven sunrises, if you survive, I'll let you back into ShadowClan. I'll expect better behavior from you. Your apprentice ceremony will be delayed by a moon from the time of your return." Did Dawnstar give dung if her clan thought she was being too harsh on a kit? Nope, not in the slightest. Purekit was lucky she was still breathing. If the kit was arrogant and smart enough to sneak into the gathering unsupervised, being stuck in the outskirts for a few sunrises wouldn't hurt.

"This meeting is over." Dawnstar finished, leaping down, although called out to a select few as soon as her paws were on solid ground. "Spiritfire, Redpaw, Aspenpaw, Orchidmoon, Juniperpaw I want you all in my den. I want to speak with you. If anyone sees my foolish cousin, Ebonyfang, return tell him I want him in my den immediately." As the massive shadow queen began to retreat to her den, she stopped to shoot Cinderblaze a sharp look.

"You, go to WindClan and find Twilightstar. She'll have a message for you." Dawnstar growled to the deputy and then finally retreated into her den. So much work, so little time.
