So this was Dawnstars son eh? Well it explained why he was so plain looking and like.... buff. His pelt was pretty boring and not even silky but his form was at least masculine, which was far more fitting on him then the too mannish leader. Seriously did Dawnstar not even care how she looked? She was all scarred and looked like a tom, sure Twilightstar didnt look the best but she was old, it was expected, she looked better when younger Rainpaw had heard. Dawnstar was still young and she looked 'impressive' like leaders should but not like attractive like a molly should.
Rainpaw, ever opinionated felt it was important for one to look attractive if they wanted a mate (which Dawnstar had to/did given she had kits) and in her very straight mind looking like a tom would for sure only attract you mollies.
Whatever, end of story she wasnt impressed with Grottopaw but the fact that his breeding was probably good despite the fact that he was still plain looking like his ugly mother. Plus he didnt even have good answers and she scoffed, grumbling "So youre boring and dont have interesting stories then, just say that." Honestly the molly didnt know why she'd chosen him, obviously he was dull and she was best talking to Coldpaw about the past gatherings and stuff, Rainpaws sister was at least intelligent.
So, she turned back to Coldpaw, tossing her fur and chirping a pleased "Oh Leechscars great but we knew he was one of the best already. But hes soooo bossy I-" before getting INTERRUPTED by another of the rude little snots dumb questions! What a brat this guy!
Scoffing the molly crinkled her nose at Grottopaw, rolling her eyes before confidently declaring "Well thats a dumb question! Of course they wont work, theyre tiny little mouse eyes, youd need cat eyes. Ugh go away my sister and I want actual proper conversation now please."
Staring narrow eyed at Grottopaw until he left she eventually leaned over to whisper to her sister "What a creep, why is he so obsessed with your eyes? Next time he asks Ill steal his eyes for you so he can be without him, maybe he'll be less fixated then. Not like you need his though, bet youre better then that weirdo easily, youre already smarter."
At Crowtooth's friendly greeting, the newly appointed deputy did his best to hide his...surprise? He didn't expect the other deputies to be friendly towards him, let alone to compliment him. At least, he thinks that was a compliment?
"Er, thanks. Nice to meet you, Crowtooth." He responded, a bit awkwardly, but out of personality returned the friendly tone (despite every bone in his body screaming at him not to). As the WindClan deputy introduced him to Mistlewhisker, the ShadowClan deputy, the bengal twitched an ear in acknowledgement. "You as well, Mistlewhisker." He mewed. Stars, it was hard- annoying, even- to feel the hatred towards the other Clans he felt ebb slowly away as he was treated with welcome.
When Mistlewhisker replied to Crowtooth, referring to her scars, a bit of embarrassment seared Sunheart's pelt. Sure, he had some scars. One on his snout and the other his shoulder, but both of those were earned during the fight with the other three Clans. From Snakefang. Ah...he wondered if that she-cat was here now. He'd love to shoot her even the tiniest of smug looks.
Ah. He probably shouldn't do that. Buuuut maybe he'd catch a glimpse of her as they were leaving. Not like she'd miss him sitting up here with the other deputies. Oh, right. They were speaking to him. Probably best not to look too lost in thought- or incompetent, really.
Straightening his shoulders to look more confident, he turned more towards the other two and listened as Mistlewhisker spoke. "Prey is running well for RiverClan. Though the river is still frozen, it should thaw soon and has made for fun games to keep Clan morale high." The tom mewed, clearly thinking fondly of a memory (that being of the ice race). "I can't wait, I'm not much of a fur-prey cat." He admitted with a slight chuckle. "I can admit black birds aren't too bad though. Nothing will be a nice juicy carp, however." He joked.
'Hello, deputy.'
Before he could say much more, an unfamiliar voice cut through his thoughts, and he had to stop his jaw from dropping a little in embarrassment as Lightningstorm commented on how they didn't make cats like him in WindClan. "O-oh." Was all Sunheart managed to stutter out, pelt flushed. Could they tell? Stars, he was not making a good first impression as deputy. He needed to be more serious than this. Were they just picking on him? Surely not...
Finally opting to dip his head in respect to Lightningstorm, the RiverClan deputy gave her a sheepish grin. "Lightningstorm, right? WindClan's medicine cat?" He asked the she-cat. "It's nice to meet you."
Uuuuuugh come on Mistle! What a stereotypical shadowclan response!
Groaning and flopping into a slouch the tom lightly jabbed a paw into the mollies side at her scar comment, snarking "Scars are scars sweet-cheeks, aint nothin' too it. Though I will admit my facial scars at least make me a look a bit ruggedly handsome." The tom glided a paw under his chin, smirking playfully before sniggering, aware any potential attractiveness of his face was ruined by how awful his shoulder scars were. "Though Ill agree on the badger thin', mean buggers those. My scars" Gesturing to his naked shoulders "taught me yer leader chooses foxhearts fer mates sometimes, got Grimhound back pretty good though, heh."
His expression made it clear he was kind of teasing, well aware from her mooning looks Mistlewhisker was also probably among the 'foxheart mates' though the tom still wanted another chance at Dawnstars first mate.
Nodding along as the other deputies comments on patrols and prey the tom skirted the issue of how windclans prey was doing (not well what with the twolegs) by immediately starting an impassioned whine about idiots. "We're the same in windclan but by the stars when ya get a stupid cat messin' up yer day an' lovely calm patrols theyre EXTRA stupid.
Like maybe I dont know beavers an' Im totally in the wrong but back me up here buddy, they aint aggressive unless ya attack 'em right?! Like there's no reason ta attack 'em if ya just... see one around." Gesturing wildly in confusion at Sunheart by Crowtooths tone it was clear he was pretty sure he wasnt crazy here but instead someone had done something stupid with a stupid defense it'd baffled the windclan deputy.
They'd probably had lingered on the topic had Lightningstorm not been... Well herself and the tom quickly scoffed, rudely gesturing at the medicine cat playfully before sternly pointing at Sunheart and warning. "Dont indulge her. She's trouble that one an' those sweet words are a trap. Save yerself pretty boy, run fer it while ya can." Lightningstorm was going to hit him for daring to imply he was anything less then a delight (god the mollies in his life were EVIL) but he was a selfless martyr, protecting the new deputy. Such kindness, much honor.
Quickly the gathering was over though, and seeing off anyone set to leave the skunk striped tom occupied himself by sticking his tongue out at his foiled herby friend, tail flicking.

Crowtooth agreed with her and pointed to his scars, earning a curious look from the Deputy. She had not been in the battle where Grimhound gave Crowtooth those scars, and hadn't been aware of the significance. The comment about Dawnstar's choice of mates had a slice of irritation shooting down her spine, even though she knew he was likely not referring to her. Would he, in the future? The next time they met on the battlefield, would she become just another foxheart who left him with the memory of her claws? It was likely. Mistlewhisker was surprised at the sorrow she found in her heart at the thought, and tucked it away for later. It was the unfortunate reality of their existence, and she wasn't going to delude herself otherwise. Instead, she grunted in acknowledgement. "I'll even them out a bit for you, next time we are at war." They were quite jagged.
Mistlewhisker listened with vague interest as the Leaders above her gave their announcements. It was a calm moon, it seemed, which the Deputy somewhat appreciated. It meant she could listen to the dark-furred rabbit next to her yammer on and on and on. Wonderful. Sunheart had learned in his younger moons what Crowtooth hadn't yet learned in his longer lifespan; the benefit of short, to the point sentences. The ShadowClan Deputy hummed in agreement at not being a fan of furred prey, though a carp was hardly her ideal prey. "I suppose I play into the stereotype of enjoying frogs." Mistlewhisker was well aware of the other clans' thoughts on frogs--hell, even some of her own clan--but someone had to eat them, and she enjoyed their unique flavor. "I find most do not give them a chance."
Crowtooth and Sunheart were distracted by Lightningstorm--did everyone find that tom pretty??--so Mistlewhisker watched the clans group up and get ready to leave. She was quite looking forward to her warm, pelt-lined nest back home.
"Mm, it's been a while since I've been around so many cats as well." Smokefern admitted. It was easy to see how overwhelming something like this could be. Not just in the amount of bodies, but the noise and smells too. Her first gathering was becoming a distant memory by the moon, but she could distinctly remember the surprise she had felt, seeing all the clans in one place.
"It's easier with company." She stated, sitting down near the apprentice. Brownpaw at least didn't seem bothered by her presence. Or at least had enough presence of mind to not snap at a warrior. "While I'm hardly the most skilled conversationalist here, I am an expert in comfortable silence. At least until you find something far more interesting."
Despite the relative cool facade Smokefern put up, her words were wry.

Unusually for her, Brownpaw wasn't too engaged with what Smokefern was saying. She nodded at her words, saying something like a "yeah," but her attention was pulled to the new arriving cats and the bustling around her, keeping her from focusing on the conversation.
So there was a new leader of Riverclan? The brown she-cat, with the scars, and the interesting eye. Did Fadingstar die, after Riverclan was driven out...? And this cat was the one who took over?
Unfortunately, as an effect to this being her first gathering, Brownpaw didn't know what the important cats from the other clans looked like. She remembered descriptions, and names, of course, but a lot of the cats standing by the leaders now she didn't recognize. Sleepysunrise and Silentpaw were near there too. Why? And shouldn't Mossfreckle and Grousepaw be here, with the other medicine cats? She hadn't seen either of them in camp, actually... but she had only been there briefly, before leaving. She'd have more time to see everyone when she got back.
Brownpaw subtly bristled when Twilightstar spoke about the twolegs. Twolegs, near camp territory? Sure, it was Windclan, but it wouldn't be hard for them to reach Shadowclan. Would they take more cats? Put them in cages, and...
No, no. Her clanmates would be careful. They wouldn't be like her, wandering into a trap so easily- they would be smart.
Brownpaw made a slight grimace as she felt a pang in her leg. It twitched, weak and uncomfortable by her side, so she shifted in hopes to make it stop. She was thinking too much. Everything would be fine.

...Had she done something wrong? She regarded with wide eyes as Berryshine’s accusatory tone entered her ears and left out the other, hardly registering the cold words and blatant pain in her voice. Sleepysunrise knew ShadowClan and RiverClan had been tense in the past, she knew they still did not like each other. Her gaze caught that of the other medics, and Silentpaw whose eyes looked as if she’d committed a heinous crime. Berryshine’s tone who told the same story. She said nothing, head tilting forth and gaze lowering pensively. What had she done? She didn’t know, gaze only lifting when it seemed ShadowClan was leaving as well. Ah. She ran out of time.
