the shock and utter feeling of being gutted by seeing mink-rookfire, now, almost brought cobwebfern falling down on the walk back. she didn't, though. she was composed, she was shoved together, a falling-apart folded paper boat rapidly disintegrating as it floated down a stream. her head was down as she silently followed stormstar, not checking to see if berries was still there. in her mind, she couldn't tell whether she deserved berryshine's support or not.
once they had made it into the den, cobwebfern simply offered a blink as stormstar snapped at her. she felt vaguely devoid of emotion, inhaling and exhaling. her gaze, blurred with tears that she didn't let fall, flicked up to meet storm's. the realization hit her that no-one but fawnlight, cobweb herself, and mi-rook. stars above. rook- knew. knew what rook and cobs had together. what they used to be, how close they were, how incredibly in sync they were.
' i'm sorry. ' her voice was small, it being the first thing she'd said since the aforementioned gathering. cobwebfern let her eyes and head drop back down again, staring at her paws like they were the most important thing in the den. ' nearly grown. job. duty. ' she repeated dully, and then something seemed to click in her, and cobwebfern's gaze brightened. her signature smile painted its way, slowly, onto her face, and she grinned at stormstar. ' yes. i'm sorry. i should have.. i shouldn't have let rook get to me. that's my fault. um.. i'll take whatever punishments you wish to give to me. '
her voice faltered, but the facade was brought back almost immediately. ' i promise you i can handle this role. i can handle being a medicine cat. i promise. ' cobweb's gaze flashed again to berry, emotions flickering between desperate and confident. desperate for berryshine's approval, desperate for the clan to believe she deserved being here, desperate to convince herself that she deserved to be here.

RiverClan Apprentice ''The Empress''
Ultimate Predator

Primrosepaw felt herself relax at Stormstar's approval, and yet the apprentice hadn't even felt herself tense up in the first place. That was...confusing, in a way. ''Thank you, Stormstar,'' A thick, warm-hearted purr rumbled in the Empress' throat. ''I appreciate the praise, very much.''
Long, pointed ears perked up at the gray-furred leader's last sentence. Primrosepaw would be a warrior at the next meeting, as long as Adderstrike said everything had gone smoothly? Emerald hues began to shine with excitement, but the Empress forced her fur to remain flat in an effort to remain professional.
Primrosepaw wrapped her tail around her paws neatly. ''I never got the chance to give you a proper congratulations on your leadership, Stormstar, so...'' The RiverClanner trailed off, considering how she wanted to word this. ''...congratulations. I know that it can be hard sometimes, and I just wanted to let you know that if you ever need someone to talk to, then I'm here.'' Primrosepaw didn't want to distress the leader, but she didn't want to overwhelm her, either. Besides, Adderstrike would tell Stormstar just how great the Empress was with serious conversations, much like this one!
Stormstar - RiverClan Leader
She had thought that would be all, but it seemed like there was one other thing that the apprentice was here for. Stormstar's whiskers twitched in thought as the 'paw offered her congratulations. "Thanks, 'ppreciate it," she chuckled, tail flipping around to the other side. This was certainly a far cry from the 'paw who had been whining in camp about how unfair the punishment Stormstar had given to her as an apprentice was - perhaps she really was growing up. She wasn't sure if she would ever take her up on the talking offer, but it was nice to have regardless.

sleepily, the medicine cat apprentice bonked her head gently against stormstar and smiled up at her. ' already, there's been a lot to do. like.. i know we're meant to be busy, but within a day or two, i've already helped diagnose a pregnancy. it's.. insane. um.. don't tell anyone i said that. dunno if it's public information. sorry. ' cobwebfern scratched behind her ear, yawning quietly. ' not that she's been working me at all! i haven't been getting great sleep since getting to this camp.. i dunno if it's related, just probably something else i need to figure out. ' her eyes warmed with pride at storm's words. ' i'm so, so proud of you. you're going to lead this clan to what we should be. and i promise we will be. because with you in charge.. we're going to be better. '
cobwebfern offered a reciprocating smile and cleared her throat. ' uh, yeah! i've been learning a good amount, so far. it's been.. a lot, but nothing i haven't been under. as in, pressure, stress. i mean. yeah. it's been well. and i'm happy. ' she grinned at the leader, bumping her head against the other's flank. ' and what 'bout you? how's being a leader been? you're already doin' better, i can tell. '

Stormstar - RiverClan Leader
A cat was pregnant? Well, it wasn't like it could be hidden for long. Stormstar didn't really care who it was truthfully, since kits were a great addition to any Clan. Once they, you know, grew up and weren't absolute menaces. It worried her to hear that Cobs wasn't getting a lot of good sleep, but perhaps it was just the new camp. For the leader this camp felt more like home than ever with the distant sound of the crashing waves and the smell of the salty ocean air - but perhaps not all of RiverClan liked that.
"'M glad you 'n Berries are workin' together as a team. She's a bright kid 'n a good mentor. Hopefully between the two of you guys RiverClan'll be in good paws whenever the next inevitable fightin' breaks out." Stormstar rolled her eyes with a grin, knowing that the peace they had right now wouldn't last for long. Plus, if she were being honest, she missed the thrill and adrenaline of battle. It had been awhile since she had a good, true fight.
A yawn parted her jaws as she glanced at Cobs, pausing in thought over her next question. "It's been pretty much everythin' I imagined it'd be," she chuckled humorously, glancing at the den's ceiling. "Lots of watchin' over warriors who wanna act like kits, 'n kits who think they're warriors." Even despite all of that... "Feels good. Feels like all the work I put in is bein' recognized." A soft smile. "'M gonna make sure RiverClan thrives again, I swear it," she added as an afterthought, glancing down at Cobs with a grin.
Otternose looked up as Stormstar padded up from behind her, saying she could enter before the leader entered her den. Otternose followed the RiverClan leader inside before sitting down in front of her. "Well, you know Ottersplash right? My sister? Well . . ." she didn't really know where to go with this. "Well, I don't want to have a name similar to hers, and I also find it a little dumb that our mother named us the same thing so . . . I'm requesting a name change if . . . that's possible . . ." She mewed softly.
Otternose didn't want to be linked back to her sister, so she was cutting off all connection she had with her, she didn't even consider Ottersplash to be her sister.
Stormstar - RiverClan Leader
Ottersplash? She hadn't heard that name in awhile - that was the cat who had poisoned ThunderClan. Who in the hell named both of their kids starting with the same prefix? That thought aside, Stormstar blinked as she listened to the warrior before her. "Yeah, it's downright fluff-brained 'n 'm shocked no leader has changed them before," she added with a roll of her eyes. "Yeah, I can do that. You got any in mind, or you want me to come up with one?" The idea wasn't unappealing, especially since she wouldn't get to choose the warrior name of Primrosepaw who had already requsted a name.
Good, no negativity from her leader. The grayscale feline seemed pretty neutral about the whole thing, and the lack of flat out hostility was a good enough sign to Goldfish. Fireglow. A good name. She watched the interaction thoughtfully. No questions were asked. Goldfish nodded thoughtfully, then flicked an ear- then turned her head- to face Ch- Fireglow. "Welcome to RiverClan." It almost felt too formal, honestly, but no worries Oh! Right, the tortoiseshell had something to talk about with Lioness. Not too important, but still. "Oh! Lioness. I wanted to talk to you about something privately, actually."

Stormstar - RiverClan Leader
Dismissing the newly named outsider with a flick of her tail and watching them go, Stormstar turned her head back towards Goldfish. Something she wanted to report? "Go for it," she nodded, wondering what this would be about.
The golden bengal gave a small yawn and a stretch before making his way towards the leader’s den. It hadn’t been too long since he’d been in here last, but things have changed since then. Excitement ripples through his pelt as he stood outside the entrance to Stormstar’s den. ”Stormstar,” He called out, not wanting to intrude any ongoing conversations she may be having. ”I just wanted to discuss if there was any change in my duties?”’Now that I’m Head Lionheart?’ He didn’t dare add the last part out loud in fear of seeming too…pompous. He was proud, of course, but the twitching back and forth of his tail was all he could do to contain his excitement. ”If you have a moment, that is.”
Hearing the paw steps approach her den and the familiar scent of Brokenstream drift towards her, the leader grinned as he entered the den. "Yeah, come on in. Been meanin' to talk to you about all that." Head Lionheart duties. She would need to call a meeting altogether with all of them at some point. Especially now that the camp was closer to the original meeting place she had found when she herself was the Clan's Head Lionheart.
"Don't really have an outline of what I want you to do. Basically you'll be helpin' me 'n Owls with stuff like permanent demotions 'n exiles. 'Paws out of camp, warriors caught causin' trouble. You've got full authority to step in 'n deal with 'em as you see fit. I trust you enough to know when it's needed 'n when it's not." The 'not' part was what would need to be gone over, considering her approach differed quite a bit from her brothers. "I also wanna talk about battle strategies 'n new things to teach our 'paws, but that's somethin' I wanna make sure Owls is here for, too. But if you've got any ideas to implement, feel free to hit me with 'em!"
Rosehawk
RiverClan Warrior
The Collector Agatha Kitty
Chill of Death
´´Stormstar?´´ Rosehawk called into the den before her form cautiously made its way in. ´´I´m making a report.´´
Sitting back on her haunches, Rosehawk´s eyes narrowed to adjust to the gloom. ´´I took Cricketpaw out hunting at Lionsbeach and we found a dead rat. It was crowfood, rotten,´´ The Bengal explained, wrapping her tail around her paws. ´´We buried it. We didn´t touch it, we used a stick to push it into the hole. I didn´t want it luring any threats onto the territory.´´
A report? Turning around from where she was rearranging her nest, Stormstar blinked. A dead rat... and that was report worthy? "...Did it have predator scent on it or somethin'?" she asked, wondering what part of this warranted her being told about it. At least they both seemed to have the smarts to not touch it and just bury it.
Berryshine was indeed following, coming to a halt beside Cobwebfern. She'd sat close enough to be comforting to her friend, a wordless gesture of letting her know that she was right there — but not close enough to touch so that she wouldn't be entirely distracting from Stormstar's incoming words. Berry had to fight off a wince at the severity of the leader's tone; it was evident that she was stressed, and perhaps embarrassed. This was RiverClan's first real show with their full high ranks and Storm as leader; it all made sense. It just felt pretty bad that it was directed at Cobwebfern, of all cats. The secondhand sting reached the little brown she-cat and made her ears flatten a bit as if in shame herself, her empathetic nature making her chest ache as she glanced between the two sets of blue eyes: one blazing like fire, the other downcast.
At the second half of Stormstar's words, talking about Cobwebfern being unable to handle everything, Berryshine's eyes widened slightly; in all of her shock and confusion over the situation, the mere thought of doubting Cob's abilities to be her apprentice hadn't even crossed her mind. Now she saw that maybe she should be thinking about these sorts of things, even if they initially sounded wrong to her brain to dwell on. She was RiverClan's full medicine cat now, and these sorts of decisions now rested on her small shoulders; the good of the Clan had to be prioritized.
Leafy-green eyes were shining in conflicted emotions; before she could make any real judgements, she wanted to know the truth of what happened. Clearly, a few key cats of RiverClan knew something about Rookfire and his past dealings, and Berry was just about lost on it all. Maybe she'd just been too young or completely distracted when it all went down, who knows. At Cobwebfern's gentle, broken assurances (Berry could only sort of pick past the facade, not entirely), she wanted to believe her — everything in her did. And there was no chance she was moving from Cob's side now to show her silent support. But she felt like she was missing too much to understand.
"I-If... if I could ask..." Berry would chime in hesitantly after letting Cobwebfern have an initial chance to speak; sheepishly she shuffled her paws in nervous habit, as if afraid to interject even though she knew deep down that she needed to ask this, and that she had every right to. Her gaze flicked between the leader and the other herbalist beside her, wanting (perhaps needing) one or both of them to explain, to clarify all of this mess...
"What... what happened, exactly? W-With, um... Rookfire?" She sounded almost a bit hesitant to say the ShadowClan cat's name, and then embarrassed to be so clueless — but regardless, figuring it out would give her at least some insight. Because Cobwebfern's behavior had shocked her as well... it didn't seem like her friend to just have that sort of outburst, at a Gathering no less. So the benefit of the doubt was pointed to this being something rather... personal. Surely something one-off, not reflecting Cobwebfern's actual behavior. Right?
Berryshine had picked up bits and pieces that left no clear picture between the squabble on the Stones, and the small brown she-cat almost looked tired for a moment, trying to fill in the gaps on her own.

Otternose nodded. "Yeah- I do have a name in mind . . . I was thinking . . ." She paused, going over the name in her mind, making sure that it's what she really wants. "I would like the name Ferretnose" she mewed. She liked the sound of it in her head, and it also sounded cute to her as well. She looked at Stormstar, waiting for her to respond.

...She was smiling. She... was smiling. She was smiling?!??!?"Is this a damn joke to you?" Fury rippled through her pelt, anger at herself for Cobs making her this frustrated and at the situation as a whole. Blue eyes narrowed incredulously, unwilling to believe that there was a smile on her face right now. Her stomach churned uneasily as she started to pace in front of the duo. Thoughts flooded her head that perhaps Cobs wasn't ready for this, and that Berries needed to pick another cat, healing knowledge be damned. But another part felt guilty for even thinking about it. She knew as good as anyone that this was Cobs' dream. Ripping it away from her...
Looking now to Berries who spoke up - who seemed to be perfectly okay with how everything was going which disappointed Stormstar - the leader huffed. "A no-good piece of crow-food traitor who fled RiverClan when she didn't get the rank Cobs is in now," she answered bluntly, the face of the former RiverClan cat flashing through her mind. "Came back durin' the battle, killed a six moon old 'paw barely out of the nursery. Probably was responsible for half the injuries you 'n Mistyshard treated. A rat. Worth no more than the dirt in this den."
Stormstar's blue gaze shifted to Cobs once more and this time it was harder. She hadn't wanted to do this, but with the way Cobs was acting right now the leader needed to think of the Clan first. "You're not comin' to the next gatherin' unless you can convince me you deserve to be there 'n that the behavior there - 'n frankly this behavior right now - won't happen. I had a lot of faith in you, Cobs, but right now all I see is a kit who isn't ready for this role. 'M not gonna demote you, but I can't afford kit-squabbles from any of my high ranks in front of the other Clans."
So far Berries had been a bit quiet, and she wondered if the medicine cat would agree with her or not. Sure, she was on the quieter side, but at least she hadn't poked the bear sitting across from her at the gathering tonight or cried like a kit fresh out of the nursery.
Stars above...
[ @finley !! @squidz - once again storms thoughts and actions do not reflect my own adding onto this, for the next gathering fin if you want cobweb to be able to attend she will need to come speak with stormstar to convince her that the recent behavior won't be an issue, otherwise she will be banned from attenting the november gathering ^^ ]
