Mallowpaw shifted slightly while she thought of something to say. "Who's your mentor?" she finally asked. Are they fighting? Mallowpaw knew a lot of mentors would be participating in the raid, although Mushroomcloud wasn't.

Everything she said just set off weirdness in his head, like the last time he'd spoken to her before Dad had intercepted. He shuffled his paws, an uncomfortable expression flickering across his face. "Because... they're ThunderClan? I care about ThunderClan. It's my home and it's where Mom and Dad are."

She retreated back to her watch, sitting straight.
"What if your parents came from different places? Different clans? Would you love one if they were ThunderClan, but not the other if they were from somewhere else?"

Blinking, she set a shell over her heart. This shell was not hate, it was for her protection. If she got too loose-mouthed, the kit might blather everything and ruin her, and her babies' lives.

"Anyway, I hope they're getting back soon," she scoffed, rolling her eyes. "My rear no doubt looks like I had a mess happen, thanks to this dirt. Oh, and I wonder if they'll remember what I said, hmph."

She thrashed her tail, careful not to thwap the kit over the head.

Her gaze frosted over once more. She did care about him, but unfortunately her current situation was not ideal for any relationships. The cats around may start gossiping that she was influencing youth...

Oh Starclan, oh Starclan! Mushroompaw barged into camp, tripping and tumbling into the clearing. The small, black-furred apprentice panted heavily, his body trembling like a leaf in the wind. Mushroompaw crouched on the ground until he caught his breath, then signed to anyone around, 'Please help! Please! I found Fawnpaw dead! She's dead! Help!' His signing soon came into wild movements as he started trembling and tears started to pour out of his eyes.

Mushroompaw had never really met Fawnpaw, but she was a clanmate nonetheless. Oh, why? Why did a fellow apprentice have to die? How could this happen?
