The pale tortoiseshell kept a firm and confidant expression, letting out a huff. She didn't have any battle training, but it would do.

"Has everyone who wants to spar arrived?" Grapepaw asked nervously. There weren't many cats, but it might still be fun.

ear twitching at the yowl echoing in the clearing, rookfire lifted his head in interest, his own hunting even had just concluded and the medicine cat apprentice was battling the heavy sleepiness of one of the last warm afternoons this season cycle. yet, the dark pelted former enforcer lifted himself onto white tipped paws, wandering over to see what the unfamiliar apprentice had planned. some sparring would hurt and even if he wouldnt participate properly, he'd at least keep an eye on the participants to make sure of no foul play. from what he saw, it was almost exclusively apprentices which pretty much confirmed his expectations of not being able to properly participate, too large and experienced to reasonably get anything out of a spar with a cat half his size.

it was a bit ridiculous to him that grapepaw had announced theyd need someone with medical experience in case someone got hurt as if a sparring match with now claws or jaws involved would cause injuries substancial enough they could walk the three foxlenghts to the medicine den or at the very least yell for one of them. perhaps this was simply the weird flavour of jealousy he had yet to shake even as a official medicine cat. seated relatively close to the group of apprentices that had gathered, rookfire rested his striped tail atop white tipped paws and continued observing in silence. perhaps this would at the very least be entertaining which he heavily doubted after seeing the trainwreck the enforcer challenge spar had been despite both of them being warriors, but there was always the chance that he'd be caught by surprise. otherwise, he didnt have anything better to do right now so there was hardly a reason to go back to laying around if he could at least pretend he was participating.

Shadepaw stalked over immediately. Sparring-- Without the constant aggravating cheerfulness of her mentor. Yes, please. She didn't acknowledge Silentpaw-- It was expected he'd be here. He was here in all the other events she'd attended, too. It didn't matter. Silentpaw didn't matter. Only winning did. For Clovepool. To prove she wasn't a complete waste of time. She was ready to do this. Besides, she liked the rush of fighting, the one time she'd actually trained.
