Having found out that he was going to become a mentor for the first time, Sunburst was very excited. He made his way towards the apprentices' den, humming as he walked, and then poked his head through the entrance, looking about for Birchpaw.

"Hey, Birchpaw, you in there?" He called out, hoping his new apprentice would be in there.

The fluffy ticked tabby yawned sleepily and stretched. Someone was calling to him.. but who was it..? He tried to remember. "Yeah.. I'm here. Whosat?" He opened one eye but all he could see was the sun around the figure of a cat.

He hoped he hadn't forgotten anything. But after becoming an apprentice, he went right to sleep. And didn't sleep well. He worried for half the night about if he'd do okay or get up on time or remember who his mentor was and looked like. So yeah, safe to say he didn't sleep well at ALL.

"It’s me, Sunburst, your mentor!" Sunburst said to the young tabby, feeling a sense of pride as he said it. He took a few steps forward so he could speak a little quieter, as to not wake any sleeping apprentices. "How'd you like to start training today?" He said, a little quieter but the excitement still in his voice. "Don't worry, I won’t make it boring, who's to say it can't be fun?" He said with a little laugh at the end.

His heart skipped a beat when the figure said it was his mentor. As he opened his eyes wider, Sunburst stepped forward and he reconized his orange pelt. "Oh! I'm sosososo sorry! I'm late aren't I?"
He got up quickly, sitting down and grooming his messy pelt. He looked at his mentor with an awkward, shy smile. "And yeah! O-of course I'm ready! Been ready all night!"

He was anxious, nervous and a tad shy. He didn't wake up on time, didn't recognize his mentor and on top of that all his anxieties from the night before were valid.

Buttercuppaw wandered around, checking the moss nests. She often did this when other apprentices weren't around. Thorns could be the worst thing imaginable, and she'd rather discover one than having it prick a cat in their sleep. How awful! You could be having the best dream ever and then you get poked. She corrected herself on the "empty" part of her quest. This den was filled with another cat she knew by the name of Kestrelpaw. Such a cool name! She thought, kestrels were very beautiful birds. Buttercuppaw looked up at the apprentice before going back to checking the nests

Kestrelpaw noticed the other apprentice- Buttercupaw- looking her way. Maybe I should talk to her? She thought, and began to pad over to Buttercupaw. Hi... Kestrelpaw said akwardly.

Kestrelpaw noticed the warrior approaching and said, I would love to train! But I don't know if she wants to. What's your name?Where are we training? She managed to clamp her muzzle shut, her eyes gleaming, waiting for answers

"Hey it’s fine, don’t worry about it!" Sunburst said. Birchpaw seemed to be quite worried about being late, could prove a useful thing in the future for deadlines and stuff, but it was his first day as an apprentice so Sunburst really didn’t mind. "So there’s a few things we need to cover, plus a few extra experiences you need." He began. "Fighting, hunting and rabbit hunting…" Although those last two got him thinking, "I’m really not sure why rabbit hunting is separate from regular hunting though." Sunburst! Stop before you lose focus again! He told himself. "Anyway, I really don’t mind whichever one you want to do first! Anything you wanna try first?"
