Mothdapple

The crackle of some leaves caught the tortoiseshell's attention and she turned her head to the direction of the sound. She saw a mouse, scurrying across the forest floor, then stopped to feast on a few seeds. Mothdapple decided to take the opportunity and dropped into a crouch. She crept forward quietly, her eyes pinned on the mouse. Then she pounced. The mouse let out a screech before going limp. Proud of her kill, the molly looked up at the sky. Oh stars, it was sunhigh already! She quickly grabbed her mouse and trotted over to the bush and dug up the squirrel she caught earlier. With both the mouse and the squirrel between her jaws, Mothdapple hurried back to where they were supposed to meet up. When she arrivied she spotted Sparrowpelt, seemingly enjoying some peace and quiet. She padded up to him and dropped her prey. "Sorry if im late" The molly apologized, then nodded approvingly to his prey. "Oh, you even caught a sparrow! Nice" Mothdapple had always found birds tricky to catch, so she was impressed to see him bringing a sparrow. "Are we ready to head back?" She asked him, assuming there was nothing else for them to do here.

The tom gathered his catches up when Mothdapple arrived back at the meeting spot. His gaze lit up seeing her catches and he let out a soft purr of approvement. "Nice catches! Alderstep will be happy. Although, we'll have to break the news that Flameheart decided not to come with," Sparrowpelt spoke with a small frown. However, he moved quickly on and turned towards the camp once more. "We'll head back now, yes."

Right, well it seemed that Harefire was the only one to have actually show up for the patrol. He had hoped that they had just been slow or something, but there was now no doubt in his mind that they were not coming. He wrapped up the last bundle of cobwebs and headed for camp.

Bumblestar led Littlelion out to the Cove. There hadn't been any sign of Wolfpaw, and she wasn't keen on waiting around any longer. The tom was old enough to find them on his own, she wasn't worried.

"Drizzlecloud said she wanted poppy seeds and lavender," she reminded her patrolmate, eyes scanning the clearing. "Let's try to hurry back."

Bumblestar led Littlelion out to the Cove. There hadn't been any sign of Wolfpaw, and she wasn't keen on waiting around any longer. The tom was old enough to find them on his own, she wasn't worried.

"Drizzlecloud said she wanted poppy seeds and lavender," she reminded her patrolmate, eyes scanning the clearing. "Let's try to hurry back."

Littlelion nodded towards the leader, she really did admire her. Poppy Seeds and Lavender, those were pretty easy plants! He glanced around, Poppies were red, right? Well, that flower was red! and! she! wanted! to! impress! Bumblestar! so! she! decided! to! grab! it! herself!

The flower was indeed red, but, it definitely wasn't a Poppy. She knew that scent, and it certainly didn't make her so.. sneezy.

Through the sneezes, they prepared to call out to Bumblestar, to tell her about the weird flower, but the constant sneezing led her eyes to what was definitely Lavender! He managed to bite a few stems off, and proudly carried them over to Bumblestar, the sneezing now gone, as he set them down carefully to talk to the other cat.

"This is what we're lookin' for, right? There was some over there, but I got em', there's also some... weird flower that will make ya' sneeze, so uh, maybe avoid the area over there...", he directed with his tail.

Yeah he had polled surrounding his mouth and looked like an idiot, BUT, he had found the requested plant! All that was left was Poppy Seeds!

“I’m here!” Wolfpaw called, relieved to have caught sight of his patrol once more. He just barely saw them leave camp and lost them for a bit, but here he was now! “Sorry.” A quick glance showed that at least one of the plants had been found, lavender it looked like. ”Are we just looking for poppy seeds now, then?” Hopefully there were some around here somewhere, but worst come to worse they could just bring back an extra big batch of lavender. Speaking of, hadn’t noticed how fragrant it was until now (probably because he hadn’t seen it until now). He made a mental note to keep an eye out for some in the future - it might be a good addition to his nest once he started redecorating it.

Bumblestar had moved away to go looking on her own for lavender, but Littlelion's sudden sneeze attack made her glance up, whiskers twitching as her ears swiveled forward. She snorted out a short laugh when she saw the pollen covering their face, and moved to gently swat their shoulder with her tail. "That's perfect, thanks."

When Wolfpaw finally showed up, she gave him a brief nod. "Poppy, yeah. Be careful of sneezing flowers--" she shot Littlelion an amused look "--Littlelion's already had a run-in with one."

She knew what she was looking for, and she found it easily. She easily snipped off three poppyheads with her teeth and straightened up. If Wolfpaw wanted to grab more, then that was great. Afterwards, they could head on back.

Littlelion nodded and picked her small bundle of Lavender back up, and prepared to leave back towards camp, after Wolfpaw gathered whichever of the herb he planned to.

Wolfpaw snagged one poppy and one lavender, figuring a mix of both would be good. The scents mingled in a funny way, almost overpowering, but not too strong that he couldn’t tolerate it for the walk home. He followed the rest of the patrol back to camp.
