the she-cat stalked slowly across the edge of the territory, her ears flattened as she looked beyond it. she always wanted to see what was out there but it was best not to...do anything about that. her eyes closed as she took in the scents of the area around her, water, vole, reeds and so on. she liked to sit and think. ways to help her clan...and she hoped she could have a apprentice soon...maybe one day she could become leader, but that was a long way to go! she lifted her head and looked up. "starclan, please let me swim down the right current." she mewed softly into the air, hoping that starclan heard her small prayer. she then looked down and closed her eyes and let the world swirl in her mind....

Separating from the group, Larkstar heads to the river, hoping to catch some fish to bring back to camp. Lately, they'd been relying on land prey a lot more than usual, it almost made her feel like they were becoming the other clans in a way, losing what made RiverClan unique. Besides, in the colder moons, the river is the most reliable source of prey and she doesn't want to risk over hunting on land, especially now. That and her wounds also hurt, so chasing after tings on land wasn't exactly a super fun thing she planned on doing.

Slowly, she creeps up to the riverbank and waits for the fish to swim by. It's odd, though, she doesn't see as many shadows in the water as usual, but maybe it's just a fluke. Still, after waiting a moment, a mitted paw drops into the water and scoops out a perch, dropping it onto the shore where she swiftly kills it, placing the new prey next to her, before returning her attention to the river. Two or three more fish should be fine, probably.

On her next attempt, though the fish is skillfully scooped out of the water, it flops around too much once it's on land again and almost makes its way back to the river. Lark manages to hook a claw in it's tail, though, and she drags it away from the bank where she kills it and adds it to the other perch she caught.
Shellwhisker followed behind the patrol, wincing as she noticed Asterpaw´s body. She slipped in front of her Clanmates, her ice-blue eyes narrowing as she saw the wounds.
´´Fox attack?´´ Shellwhisker looked up at Sycamoresprout. ´´As far as I can see, these are fox wounds. By the look of it, Asterpaw wasn´t able to fight back. There are no other wounds besides the bite marks on his neck.´´
Shellwhisker´s tail swayed side-to-side as she gestured to the puncture wounds on Asterpaw´s neck. ´´But, if it was a fox, then why didn´t the fox take and eat Asterpaw? Foxes kill cats to eat them, not to let them rot. Not like badgers do.´´

Ripplepelt's tail twitched. Shellwhisker was right - foxes didn't usually kill for sport. Why would it leave behind food in leaf-bare?
"Maybe it got frightened off by something else," she suggested. Whatever the reason, they were here to take care of Asterpaw's body, not investigate it. "We should take him back to camp so that his kin can say goodbye."

She stepped towards the tiny body, pressing her nose to his cold pelt. May StarClan give you your warrior name, since RiverClan could not.

The younger warrior then picks up AsterPaw's lifeless body by the neck and begins dragging it back to camp.

Ripplepelt let herself walk at a leisurely pace - they were in no rush to get to where they were going, why not enjoy the act of getting there?
She brushed her tail along Swanbreeze's flank in sympathy. "I've never had a litter of my own, but I'm sure they give you plenty of reason to worry," she mewed. "I've been lending a paw with the apprentices more often as of late, and with the state of things..." she shook her head. "Well. One worries about them."
The sound of the river rushing in the distance and the company of a friend had her letting go of tension she hadn't noticed she'd been holding on to. She let out a quiet purr as they walked alongside one another.

swanbreeze let out a small trill in response; her body relaxing as their destination came near. letting out a small sigh, she responded, ``apprentices are a few pawfuls.. i cannot blame you,`` she nodded, tail swaying softly. smoothing down ripplepelt's spine fur with her tail, she looked up at her, the softest hint of admiration in her eyes. although swanbreeze didn't notice it herself.
she felt a connection with ripplepelt. a bond. she had been through things; swanbreeze has, too. she felt.. relatively happy that someone finally, at the least, had gone through what she had gone through; to some extent.
``oh, starclan, i haven't been to haven springs in such a while. how much longer?`` she chuckled; a faint smile on her face as she looked at her paws whilst she walked beside ripplepelt. leaning into her, searching for her warmth, swanbreeze's thin pelt still hadn't adapted from the fall's relatively warm temperature.

Ripplepelt's hackles lowered. It was obvious she regretted being disrespectful, and it was no wonder she wasn't feeling herself. "I know what you mean," she mewed, helping Sycamoresprout with the body where she could. With the constant new leadership and now multiple apprentices turning up dead, she'd certainly felt the stress and sorrow eating at her when she let it. "I think we're all a bit on edge lately."
