Rainydawn could see the uncertainty in Goosefury’s face and she felt guilty, but guilt was better than pain and she could only rationalize it as a necessary sacrifice to make sure she didn’t get to close to him. Of course the conversation turned to the night before, since they were clearly both thinking about it, and she ducked her head humbly in the face of his thanks.

“Yes, I believe you did. Don’t mention it.”

Her voice was a strange mixture of coolness and gentleness that she could kick herself for. Damn, she was getting worse at this by the minute! Why oh why had she climbed into his nest? At this point, she could only hope that he’d lose interest in talking to her after a night of sleep without nightmares. That was, if he managed to make it to sleep without a nightmare. Suddenly, Rainydawn was concerned- what if he woke up screaming again? She’d have to check on him before she fell asleep, if only to assuage her anxiety on his behalf. Great. She felt anxious for him. That was a good sign.

"Um." Gee, Rainydawn sure was different during the day. He had to squint at her again to make sure he had the right cat. Yeah, no, it was definitely her. Wow. Interesting.
He glanced away for a moment before hesitantly returning his gaze to her. "So, uh, maybe we could go hunting somtetime? I mean, I could go hunting," he corrected himself quickly. "For you. To pay you back. Maybe." He couldn't hold back the awkward cough that tickled his throat. Yikes, this was not at all going how he had hoped.

As Lionstar called for another warrior, Russetstrike's heart sunk a little. He had hoped he would be training with Lionstar, and he thought that was what the leader was going to do but, he had thought wrong. Looking back, he watched as Snowstripe padded over. Not knowing anyone except Shimmeringpool in the clan, it would be good to get to know more cats than Lionstar and her but, he still felt that small prick to his heart.

"Snowstripe, this is Russetstrike, one of our newest Clan-mates." Lionstar nodded to the russet tom. "He's in need of some swimming and fishing lessons. I trust you can handle that?" Crabpaw may have been a failure, but he figured that was on the apprentice who decided to up and vanish on everyone.

Goosefury seemed as uncomfortable as she felt and Rainydawn had to bite back a friendly chuckle. Instead of giggling, the bengal cleared her throat and forced herself to meet his eyes, quickly extinguishing the amusement in their depths. Rainydawn took another bite of her meal, struggling to chew it with Goosefury’s eyes on her. He looked... cute as he stood uncertainly above her. She wanted to know what was hurting him but whatever freedom the nighttime gave her dissipated like the morning dew under the sun’s light.

“No need, don’t worry about it.”

Her tone was even and unemotional and she struggled to keep her eyes looking calm rather than unnaturally dead. It was a fine line between lack of emotion and lack of life. The molly wanted to ask how he was holding up, but absolutely refused to let herself do that and left her response at the singular sentence. Likely, it would come off as uncaring and Goosefury would realize that she wasn’t the cat he thought she was. Which was a good thing. He would surely think she was an unfeeling husk like everyone else did and she would be free to go back to her life in isolation.

"I could do that Lionstar. Should I bring Stormpaw with me as well?" The warrior asked since she was also appointed an apprentice a while ago.

Shimmeringpool remained silent as the two toms talked until her leader turned his attention upon her. "Yes, of course." Dipping her head in acknowledgment. Casting her gaze to Russetstrike the silver and white warrior mirrored his smile. "Come with me, I will help you gather moss so we can make your bed." Shimmeringpool said to the new Riverclanner.

Wow, his response was just one word, perhaps the silver and white warrior was making a mistake by coming over here. No! You have to stay strong! The voice in her mind encouraged Shimmeringpool to take a few more steps toward the tom. "How are you?" Gracefully sitting down next to her clanmate but in a respectful distance.

Wormbite limped into camp, licking his shoulder. Thankfully the bleeding had already stopped. He would put away the prey Lightpaw and him caught before glancing around for Sootflare.

Catching the tom's scent, he approached him. "Sootflare?" He meowed, tilting his head to the left as he waited for the tom to realize.

Once he turned around, "The beach is fine. Lightpaw and I caught some prey, " Wormbite mewed, disappointment seeping into his tone. He wished he could have at least taught Lightpaw something -- showed her something. Then again, he didn't really have anyone else to blame then himself.
